Sex and the City - are girls over it yet?

Seriously, are you girls done with it yet? Are we past that dark age in societal development? Because I keep seeing ads for it on Comedy Central. And apparently they're making a new movie too - this is particularly heartbreaking, as the only reason it grossed so much at the Box Office the first time is because every poor chump on the planet with a girlfriend was dragged to it, thereby doubling its would-be profits. Thereby convincing the studio execs that making a sequel would be financially viable.

When i was 13 i once snuck downstairs at 12.10am to watch sex and the city thinking it as porn.

I sat through the whole eposode thinking; "don't worry the sex will come, they just have to put in filler to make it airable".

I'm not a fan of it, and making out all women are is generalising tbh. Its far too fluffy and girly for me to stomach, but I don't judge anywho does... no actually thats a lie, I do :pac:

If girls ever got the lifestyle concept of Sex and the city they wouldn't be dragging the boyfriend to see it. They would have gone with their female friends. When I went to see it there were no men in the cinema.

Yeah when I got in the NTL there were numerous ads for SATC and it seemed to be on a lot. This was about a year ago so I thought it had something to do with the upcoming film. But the film has been and gone and it's still on ad nauseum!

No, I don't think it's likely that people are "over it", especially as there's another movie coming up.

Talk about beating a dead horse. No offence intended to Sarah Jessica there.

I only started watching it a couple of months ago. I think it's clever, funny and well written. Also it's a piece of fiction and women that don't see that are idiots.

I hate Carrie though, whiney bitch thinks the world revolves around her. Also usually I agree with the men and think the women are being paranoid and stupid.

The show is pretty much designed to sell **** to idiot bints while convincing them that they can still get the hot guys no matter how plain looking and vacuous they are themselves.

It also teachs women empowerment through the medium of taking as many yards of shaft from as many different men as they possibly can.

I liked Sex and The City.

Might be a lot of stereotypes and generalisations in it, but so long as you don't take it TOO seriously, or believe it's true to real life, I think it's quite entertaining!

I mainly watch it for the clothes - I like seeing how they put outfits together and getting ideas.

I enjoy Sex & The City, it can be highly entertaining. It's not realistic though, it's certainly not a depiction of female empowerment (the same messages are still there, just packaged differently - so what if they've careers and are promiscuous?) and Carrie and Charlotte are morons. Even Miranda, the supposedly "strong" one, can be incredibly needy.
