the show will be "in the round"

That's what they said on the Late Late Show last week.

as far as i know its at the end but its more square and fans can get in around it. but it aint exactly in the middle
    see attachment

kinda defeats the whole purpose of the stage if its not in the middle of the pitch no ?
Where would people reckon the best place to watch it from the stands ?
At last one I was up very close to stage in Cusack Upper and didnt find it great

They could do a month long residency in the O2.

    indeed.
it doesnt always have to be a super huge outside show.i wish "bigger" bands realised this

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

Have the band travel to a handful of countries in one year by doing long residency stints or do loads of countries by doing a big ass stadium tour.

I know which one makes more sense to me.

indeed i agree the residency makes sense . they would sell out (as another poster says )the 02 for a month. they wouldnt have to ship the stage around the whole time and logistics etc. the tickets are the same price(britney is a hundred lids in the 02).they would cream it in and wouldnt be playing for flights etc.

its the same reason prince did 20 odd shows in the o2 in england.he figures if people like me enough they will come from anywhere to see me.his overheads are less and he milks it.

The site diagram on u2.com seems to have the stage pushed ever so slightly further away from The Hill than on Ticketmaster not much though.

Anyone know what seats in the lower Davin stand (section 317) would be like for the U2 concert in Croke Park? They seem to be the only ones to come available on ticketmaster every now and again which makes me suspicious about the quality of them.

    Hi,

I am going to the Saturday gig (July 25th) and I am really looking forward to it !!

The only problem I have is that my seats are in block 432 row JJ

I searched google for hours and couldn't find exactly where my seats are.

I asked ticketmaster, they replied that blocks 4xx are behind blocks 3xx

But rows in blocks 3xx go from A to Z and then from AA to WW. Does that mean that blocks 4xx start *after* block 3xx row WW ? That would mean that there are a lot of rows (more than 100?) in the Lower section... I am not sure how this works

If anyone could help me, that would be very much appreciated :)

that stage is being built by the same crowd who build teh main stage for oxegen.... it looks like some monster...

Hi. I managed to get a couple of standing tickets at face value for U2 in Dublin on Monday 27th July. They costing me about 65 each. Does anyone know if this sounds right?

Plus about €6 ticketmaster fees if they were both online and yep €65 seems about right

if you go to ticketmaster and look at the seating plan for croke park for matches or anything there is a layout with all the section numbers, its fairly easy to locate your seats

Why on earth would you want beer at a football match - its a weird American phenomenon that is creeping in here and I dont get it??? Before the game in the pub and after but in the stadium???? Half time is only 15 mins and you have to factor in queueing time. Same feelings about beer at gigs - at Leonard Cohen last year it really pissed me off when people kept passing in and out to go to the bar.

Ok end of rant/lecture!!!!! Now comes the answer. The bar in Croker was closed as soon as Take That took the stage - it was open before that. Seems fair to me. Should be a great gig - going on Monday and will get to hear the Script live too which I am really looking forward too.

Bit of a strange gig this one for me. I've seen U2 live before and been impressed, but I'm completely lukewarm on the new album at best, so going with some reservations. Normally I get annoyed at people only going for "the hits", but I'm really hoping the songs from No Line on the Horizon improve live.

I have decided to travel to Dublin, Ireland to watch U2 at Croke Park.
I want to get general standing tickets, but cant figure out which ones since it seems like there are rows!
Does anyone out there have a suggestion to which tickets would be the best to get the best U2 experience??

Going to the Saturday U2 concert and was wondering if anyone knows if a concert bus is running to the gig. I would be getting on at Castledermot (carlow) and returning after the concert. Looking for 4 seats.

    Any help appreciated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 465 ✭✭nulabert

Heading up myself. Bit the bullet this time, paid 50 dollars to U2.com for the right to buy the tickets on a pre-sale. Anyways, the last time i was there i was in the upper tier of the canal. It wasn't bad, most people stood up for the gig so the athmosphere was good. But you are a good distance back from the stage and there is a massive void on the pitch at the back as the crowd moves up to the stage. This time round its a rotating stage i think so the canal or hogan stands at the sides should be ok.

We're also looking to travel by bus to the gig (the Monday night one). We're traveling from Cork. Anybody hear of any buses going?

Any idea on playlists for the tour? I'd like to hear a few tracks that they haven't played live for a while. For example 'Stay', 'Acrobat'. Also I'd like them to give Beautiful Day and Elevation a rest

Here is a link to what they are supposed to be rehearsing.

Some old and new - nice to see Unforgettable Fire for example.

Interesting indeed..would be great to hear Unforgettable Fire, Drowning Man and MLK after all these years.

Surprised Fez isnt on the list. Of all the songs on NLOTH I thought that would be epic live.

Still waiting for "Like a song" and "A day without me"...ah well maybe next time:D

Heading over on Tuesday to see the opening night which can sometimes be fairly dodgy regardless of who the band is.

Looking at aerial pics of The Claw online, looks to be something else alright. The setlists are going to surprise people with some of their inclusions if the one's getting published online turn out to be true. Only fans of long standing would know Drowning Man or Seconds let alone have ever seen them played live.

I understood that the stage will be at the Hill 16 end but I see in today's Indo it's going to be at the Canal End.

    Is this correct?

I bought my tickets to be nearer the Hill 16 end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,267 ✭✭✭kc66

According to todays Independent the stage will be on the canal end side of the pitch. Canal End seats would be great if thats the case.
    Edit: too late!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭techman

At the time of buying tickets on Ticketmaster, the seating plan shows the stage at the Hill 16 end.

They should not be allowed to change the location of the stage AFTER tickets have been purchased.

This is misleading. The pricing they used showed the Canal End tickets as being cheaper.

    This is not on!

is this not a mistake by the indo by any chace?
It is a bit of a disgrace if it has changed alright

It whiffs of a mistake by the Indo, there's what resemble architect's drawings on the U2 website that has the stage at the Hill end but further up the pitch that Ticketmaster are showing.

You can check it out here

  • Registered Users Posts: 221 ✭✭Niamhf

Anyone know what the story is with getting close to the stage...In 2005 didn't they scan your tickets to see whether you got up to the stage??
Will there be many people queueing for hours too to get close?? I am going on Saturday and am planning on queuein from early! :)

I visited Camp Nou last week, and the U2 360 stage was set up for the up coming gigs, the stage looks amazing. Its out of this world in every sense of the words, its looks like an alien craft, and is so outrageously over the top! Hope the gig is half as good!
