I have an R12 estate, from 1979, originally lime green but now very dark mud green and also is original Irish regd. It needs restoration. It was last on the road in 1997. Rust is everywhere...:D

Seen a white 1965 SL 280. What a yummy car! Guy standing next to it wasn't terribly chatty, he was the mechanic and his cousin in-law owned the car.

Sorry, no pics. was just nipping down to the shop when I seen it, doubt the guy would have been to happy about it anyway

Maybe it was a 230, not great with the merc naming system. It was just like this one:
    1965%20Mercedes%20230SL%206866.JPG
I seen it in Drumcondra. The owner was a solicitor.

Ohh I think I know the car.

They look almost identcial BTW, 230/250/280SL W113 are all the same to look at, only hub caps, mirrors, and lights are very slightly different, together with minor interior changes.

I like that Monza. I've seen a Senator parked there a lot in the past. Obviously an Opel fan.
The Uno has featured here before me thinks.

And you posted the 500 before me.:(

I also saw this Merc in the City Centre this afternoon.

Think I seen that 500 before. Picture of it in the thread somewhere with it parked up in Drumcondra with in-tow signs on the back. Someone said it broke down with engine trouble coming of the boat.

This is a kit car known as the Midas, I think it is out of production a long time.

    variouspiccies2015.jpg

This car is called a WiLL VI, a Toyota Yaris floorpan shared model and a Japan only model. The rear of the car looks like the rear of the Megane 02 hatchback but this is a saloon and quite a few of these have arrived here in the last year or so, first produced in 2000, later replaced by a Will Cypha.

The WILL brand also sells fridges, microwaves in addition to this car.

    variouspiccies2010.jpg

why would anyone go to the trouble of building a kit car that ends up looking like any other 80's/90's hatchback? And then painting it navy?

I just don't get it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,480 ✭✭✭tc20

    ^ that Midas looks like a hybrid Escort - a Mk2 2000 nose grafted onto a Mk3 body. As trevorbrady says...why?

Didn't Midas make kit cars also based on a metro ? Seem to recall a grp bodied black coloured one around in the 80s (in a mag, never saw one in the flesh), awful panel gaps and a faux Lotus look to the bodykit.

@ manta mad - you get around a bit dont you ? :p just kidding - i live near kilcoole and often see that Will - its a rare thing for sure. There's also a Nissan Pau going around these parts as well, a more utilitarian mode of transport -

Hi G Luxel and others. Are you sure that is a Midas? Looks a bit big to be Mini based. Couldn't find one like it on the Midas site . Looks more Escort size. Perhaps it wasn't popular and died the death with the enthusiasts club. http://www.midascars.net/

Saw this in a garage in Shannon. Nobody about so dont know anything about it except that its pretty ugly! Anyway, see for yourself. And I wasn't being cheeky insofar as the bonnet was already opened when I arrived, so I thought a pic of the engine was no harm. Hard to get a good one though, as it was parked awkwardly.

In a coach garage in Killarney, belongs to the owner, according to the mechanic.

^^ that Daimler is a stately old beast alright. Looks like its been in the wedding game with the flowers on the back shelf.
The 'D' reg is around 1967, though i wouldnt know what model it is.
