I suppose, some of those 10 markers would have been pretty hard to draw out

Did anyone get the error in Paper 1 read out? It was such a waste of time, a missing comma!

A quick questions, in Paper 2, the unseen fiction. For question one it asks
"From your reading of this passage what impression of OD's life do you get?"

    and

"What do we learn about the relationship between Nance and OD? Support your answer with reference to the extract."

(I kept my papers). In question one (the former) do you have to give quotes? Because it doesn't say anything about reference to the passage. Whereas it does in question 2 (the latter). I didn't give quotes for question 1 but I did for 2.

Paper one was good, for personal writing, I twisted the picture given to a near future, where the ozone layer has been destroyed, most of the earth's population has been killed by the ultraviolet radiation. The story was called "One Hour in Hell". The guy walking across the muddy field is the main character, he's wearing a sheet over his head to protect from the UV rays, he climbs into one of the long abandoned tents and checks his watch, 11:15, he plans to stay there for a few hours to avoid the midday sun. He hears bandits searching the tents, one of them spots him and chases him with a golf club and a butcher knife, he runs and escapes by pretending to drown in a river. When the men leave he checks his watch, 12:15, he realises he's survived another hour in hell. I didn't really explain the setting enough though IMO.

Paper 2 was annoying as hell, the drama was alright, I nearly jumped for joy when war came up as a theme (Does it Matter - Siegfried Sassoon) but I was running out of time for fiction, which didn't make sense so I scribbled a few answers, puked onto the page and rambled about Goodnight Mr Tom for 10 minutes.

    Hoping for that B

Haha yep, I was just getting into it then all you hear-'Everyone listen, there's a missing comma'
I was wondering that too, I think I put a few quotes in to be on the safe side but it was hard to find any because it was a terrible extract, to be fair...

Paper 1 was pi*s easy, nothing hard in it at all. Paper 2 was more difficult alright but I didn't have any trouble with it. In all other English exams I messed up,but today was the first time I think I did savage. Mobile phone debate was sooo easy in the personal writing

Awwww fuuuuuuuuck. I'm after realising a mistake I made in poetry. "Choose two of your favourite images relating to the sound of the poem." I just banged out any old images. D'you reckon it'd be worth a 5 or something?

I thought the second one was harder because we never learned what water shed was, the shoe one was piss, everyone I asked wrote the same thing so I'm confident it's right :)

I thought the choices for the essay were crap!!

When I saw a war poem.. uh i was so mad.
I put so much effort in learning all the poems.. and barely learned 'Base Details'
But luckily i managed to remember some quotes and blabbered on...

I think you get 1 mark for the poets name so I don't think you missed much. Don't quote me on that though.

Quick question, was the letter in the functional writing meant to be formal or informal? Didn't do it myself but loads were arguing over it. Anyone know for sure?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 51 ✭✭Ambrosia

I should think it would be formal, since you didnt know th man personally. I did it formally anyway.

Overall thought paper was a lovely thing, wrote well over 30 pages but still think ill get a B

How did your hands not get tired?

I wrote 24 pages over both, I kept losing focus and started to fiddle around with pens and crap in paper 2 because I was stuck for ideas but at the end of the day my head, eyes and hands were in so much pain.

Well for the target audience thing everyone said it was aimed at young people because the style of shoe is mostly worn by young people etc.

For how to get young people interested in talk-raidio or whatever it was called, I talked about having competitions, talking about topics teenagers are interested in e.g. sports, music, fashion. Having a ring-in and text-in service etc.

I did figure it out RIGHT AFTER I LEFT THE ROOM

Annoying, you know how its 3 hours for both to fill the pool?
The big pipe fills a quarter of the pool per hour, so therefore the fourth remaining quarter is tooken care of by the small pipe meaning it takes 12 hours as x.

ffs, was so pissed off after that exam.
