My latest is that I failed by four marks. Doh. Pretty much knew that i hadnt done well enough when i was leaving but you always have that glimmer of hope dont you. Was my first time trying so at least next time im gonna be fore-warned and know exactly what to expect. unless they decide to change the test that is. Good luck to everyone who got through with the rest of the process. :-)

    Aw no:( Total pants.

Still, I firmly believe that the experience is beneficial, I wasnt as nervous this year as it was my second time, I definitely think it helped.
    You'll ace it next year!:)

C14= Campaign 14 (last years recruitment drive). This year is Campaign 15, but will be known as C15 on the forum for handiness sake.

I think if you email Deloitte they will tell you your mark

Congratulations on passing. You can contact deloitte if you really want to get your mark by phone or email i think? C14 is an abbreviation for campaign 14 of the PSNI's recruitment.

Can anyone reccommend and websites or books to have a look at before the ac?I have totally no idea what goes on at the ac....I'm a total ac virgin!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 507 ✭✭✭bc84

the AC in my opinion, is something you either have on the day on your don't unfortunately. its how you react in certain situations, i mean you can prepare mentally to the extent that you know to control the situation and dont let it get away from you. that sounds very vague but its something that theres very little reading books or websites will help with.

my advice would be to control the situation. if the person is getting angry or riled up with you, you need to help them calm down. appreciate the situation theyre in, but explain that without talking properly you can't resolve the issue etc etc its hard to explain what i mean until your in there.

the other biggie for me is the situations. read the brief and the table on your letter that tells you what your being assessed for in each role play. its usually 2 skill sets per roleplay (i think), so before you go in, have it in your head what skills you need to show.

the other thing is relax. few deep breaths will help before going in. try and be clear and dont go off at 100mph, if your stressed out, you'll take like a motor mouth, and it'll be harder to get your point across lol

Did mine on the 19th May and got my results today. Only the one pager in the envelope so I immediately knew I didn't hit the pass mark. :(

Real disappointed but its experience for next time round...

thanks im raging its the first exam ive ever failed and the most important lol like who cares about my uni finals! aww indeed they do just need to order a 4 over the net and send the 3s back pretend they sent me the wrong size ;)
eeek im dreading it, and doesnt help having your local cops sitting up in their skodas telling you how sorry they are for you then going sure it has no relevance to your job at all  nah beca failed aswell :(

    Aw pants for Beca too:(
You'll both know what to expect for next year.
Did you fail by a big margin or just one or two? Sometimes failing by one or two is worse, which happened to me last year. Thank god Consensia made a boo boo and I got through. I missed by 2 last year and I too cried like a baby. Then I cried again when they lowered the pass mark and I got through.
Read Edzzys post about a strategy for the IST and use it next year. Things will be different!

Aw Tickle Monster, I really feel for you, last year I passed IST and AC with a score in early 50's and when I got dear John I was devestated, I couldn't even tell my husband what was wrong I was cryin so much, but everything happens for a reason and this year just wasn't your time. Keep positive and keep focused on your goal and if its meant to be it won't pass you by, that's my mantra and I have been sticking to that from last September. ;)
