It would be handier for me to take my shake before workout and then have a meal after workout, don't like taking both too close to each other. I just want to know if its ok to take shake before session. I would assume that the time it takes for your body to take up the protein would be the length of a session (1 hour approx), so if you do it this way the protien is right there in your system ready to go. Does it really matter when you take it.

I've read before (I can't remember where) that if you are bulking, take the shake before your workout, and take it after your workout for recovery.

I maybe wrong, and I probably am... :D

take one scoop before workout, then two scoops straight after. if you train hard you w,ont be in the humour of eating a meal.

I wouldn't if i'm honest - have a chicken sandwich or something about 30-40 mins before you go.

Have the shake the second you finish - your muscles are like a sponge then soaking up the proteiny goodness.

Then give your stomach a chance to settle and maybe try and eat carbs and protein afterwards

Prior to training you need more than just a protein shake, you could mix the protein with some oats and peanut butter, post training is when you have a window of an hour (its called the golden hour) to get the protein in so I would take one directly after.

are you getting hours and showers mixed up?

what are you taking the protein drink for? what kind of training are you doing?

    here's what we do:
protein:carb ratio @ anywhere from 2:1 to 1:2 depending upon the training
drink 1/3 before, 1/3 during, and 1/3 after

Its always better to get protein into ya as soon as you finish your routine. Within 20mins is when you will get best absorption etc.

A protein / creatine mix pre-workout is also beneficial.
