Can you give me your opinions on how to say 'sober just for today'

    Thanks!

Dúradh liomsa lá den tsaol nach bhfuil aon fhocal i nGaeilge chun "sober" a aistriú - sa chiall atá i gceist anseo, ar a laghad! :D De réir dealraimh, ciallaíonn "stuama" duine atá foisteanach / duine gan aoibh, srl - "brogús" nó "turaire". Ach is dócha gurb é "stuama" an téarma is fearr sa Ghaeilge cibé, nó b'fhéidir "tirim".

I was once told that there's no word in Irish to translate "sober" - at least, not for the meaning of it here! :D Apparently, "stuama" describes a person who is solemn, humourless etc - such a person could be called a "brogús" or a "turaire". But "stuama" is probably the best option in Irish anyway, or else maybe "tirim" (dry).

To translate it directly, I'd say "Stuama d'inniu amháin / Tirim d'inniu amháin" - Sober today only, ie just for today.

There's another way which might be closer to what you want: "Stuama/Tirim don lá atá ann inniu." - Sober just for the day that's in it.

Tá mé ar mo chiall = I'm sober. I don't know where I got it from but have been using it for years.
