Went with all my friends to the debs, nobody was in a couple and had a fab time..

But on the other hand, recently went to LYIT formal with boyfriend and ended up going home early cos we were so drunk.. it kinda works both ways me thinks

Was that any good? Never bothered going.

I was going to go by myself and have a laugh with my mates. Then i met a girl at a party and i bought her. then she got off with my best mate. Lousy night and really regret bringing someone.

Went to a predebs as well. That night started great and i was having a great time. Then my girlfriend dumped me.

    I ****ing hate debs.

Did your best mate even pay you back for the hire of the girl??

Think the gist of it reads "I'm gay and I'm proud"

Nope i went with a bf at the time. Two of my girl friends went together tho.

/Q the kids with the "fap fap fap" comments.

Rugmunchers were allowed go together were they? Must have been nice seeing them whispering to the wheatfield during it anyway etc. etc.

I didnt bother going to my own one, why should i go to somewhere that usually plays crap music, and there's ALWAYS a big melee at some stage in the night between some drunk muppets...

If someone goes on their own, fair play to em for having the balls to stick out from the status quo of what people consider "normal"

Me and a bunch of mates from the class went on our own and had a great night.

I wasn't with anyone at the time, and didn't see any point in bringing someone just so I could be seen to be there with a girl, who I probably wouldn't talk to for the night anyway.

Plus, I was broke and saw no point in the added expense, so bought one ticket, a €30 blazer from Penneys and got the free bus, it was basically a night of getting pissed in a suit with a pile of friends.

    Good times.

Can we just clarify something here as I'm getting very confused.

When you say 'Debs', are you actually referring to your 'Grads'?

'Debs' are for girls (and take a guy* with them). 'Grads' are for guys (and take a girl* with them).

*Or they can take someone of their own gender if they are that way inclined

Where I was, the Grad was a party in May at a nightclub where you didn't need a date, and the Debs was the more formal event in October. The boys' and girls' schools had both each.

For us, that was the Graduation Mass. Held in May, it was to celebrate the end of schooling (a couple weeks before the LC). Students, parents & teachers attend, small religious ceremony as well as presentations/speeches/music by students, before heading to a hotel function room for a session with the teachers (parents sent home!) and on to a club (with the younger/cooler teachers). Semi-formal - shirt & graduation tie (presented at the ceremony), as opposed to a tux and no dates.

I was going through a religious superiority complex at the time and stayed home watching Castaway with Tom Hanks iirc.

I wanted to go on my own, had fully planned to, but I was telling a mate and he said to bring one of the girls as she had no date. Would have said no, except she was talking with us. Could hardly say no then.
Of the 3 I've been to, thats one of the worst. But then they were all pretty ****e!

Went on my own. No harm done. Interesting evening, nothing too exciting.
