14 days peeps. 14 days. Dont let the side down PYG. Keep that pecker up. Given I have no idea what one of those is lately...Improvise...

    Ok ok ok!

They have until Friday, or things may get ugly (only joking)

People I've just deleted 18 posts of non-IST related chit-chat that was on this thread. Can I remind you all that this thread exists so users can find information about the IST easily and quickly. There are other threads for general banter and I would ask that you all keep the fun for there.

    Thanks.

Postman's just been and still no results! It'll be one full month tomorrow since I've done the IST. Has anyone else heard anything this morning?

You may not get results until all ISTs have been completed!!:(

Yeah, tomorrow will be the 4 weeks up for me too, then its on the phone to them.
4 weeks of waiting is ridiculous in my opinion, regardless of how many applicants there are. In the past I've had word back within 3-4 days.

I've been wondering about that as well, the only reason I can think of for them waiting the month is so they can work out what pass mark to set. I read earlier in the posts that they set the mark at 52 last year only to bring it down to 50, ergo, they're probably only looking for the top percentile to move on to the next stage. As I say though that's only my reasoning, they could just be doing it to be cruel...!!:mad:

I don't know how pedantic they will be, but they really emphasised the full month, and tomorrow actually isn't a full month since the first day of tests (thats when I did mine too), it's only 4 weeks. A month is actually Thursday. I'd not be surprised if anyone who phones tomorrow gets told to bog off....

As some smart cookie said yesterday, there'll not have been any post sent on Saturday so I'm going to at least wait and see what the postie brings (or not) tomorrow and then phone maybe on Wednesday if no word by then.

I have to admit it. I've lost my bottle, my stomach and honestly a little bit of my self respect.

    I'm throwing in the towel.
I don't think I can go on with joining the PSNI - that article in the paper, the fact that I'd be watching over my shoulder each time I leave the house and the fact that I would be worrying for my other half every time I leave her on her own. Maybe I'd have made a different decision if I was single, living on my own - or if I wasn't from the republic. I won't ever know that.
Good luck to everyone going forward to their next respective stages. Be safe.

You sat your IST Test yet ?
Theres dangers in every job, but if you think about the positives in helping communities and vunerable people that may even outweigh the fears of being in the PSNI.
I can understand where you are coming from though, but if your set on joining dont let the past and the recent troubles put you off it.

Youve no need to lose your self respect. You hold your head high bud. Youve made a decision and by no means lightly. And its yours to make. No one elses. Big respect for that. Good luck in whatever direction your life takes you in...

Its actually very wise of you to think like that now, as when they sit you down in the lecture room and tell you youre in the police now, it really hits home and some folks only then start to question themselves and about their decision.
Its better to know now, before you go through with it all, than throw in the towel when your in the early stages of training...trust me...that goes for everyone, really think about every little detail of the job youre applying for.

    Sorry, back to topic now.

Yeah but theres always been only 440 places. Up to this year there are normally around 7 or 8,000 people applying each campaign anyway.

Think about it though 3,00 people is a lot of people. it's like the capacity of an eircom league football match r somethin. hard enough competing wit 7,000 but wit 3,000 more it just gets harder. no wonder dey take their sweet time sending back da results

nah lyk m8 so it is. saw dat mo self.

    sweet lyk.

alot of these people will not get through the IST stage. they will more likely have a higher pass rate because of the amount of applicants. for talks sake, maybe 2-3k could pass their IST. i dont know any real figures
