The pc version comes with games for windows live. You have to buy it through the games for windows marketplace. Just go to programs\games for windows live and start it up. You'll need to set up a credit card with that system.

I've never purchased anything for the pc live games but I've done it through the 360 and can't imagine it's much different.

    PC version I take it?

Apparently there are issues with it:
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/fallout-3-broken-steel-dlc-pc-problems

I'm still getting lots of crashes on the original game on my pc even after all the fixes. Very annoying. Not sure if I'll get any of the DLC now.

So I've decided to explore the whole map. Fast travel to an area and discover whatever I can.

What are the toughest creatures? I don't mean like Deathclaws or Radscorpions; I mean like the Super Mutant Behemoth. Was there only one of them? I've encountered the Giant Ant Queen and killed it - surprised at only 28xp.

There are 4 Super Mutant Behemoth's in the game, you can use a fallout 3 fansite to get exact map locations :)
I would say they are the toughest......

Anyone have any crashing issues with fallout 3? Been fine untill about 20 hours in, then I started getting random freezes all the time. Tried all the fixes I've found online but still no luck.

Yeah I've been getting them all the time. Very frustrating. The first few were related to sound. I have an XFI soundblaster and apparently there were issues with the game under vista. I posted a fix in this thread about 2 weeks ago. That also fixed the stuttering I was getting with the in game radio music (No it's not a feature of the game!). But even over the last few days I got lots of freezes. I discovered some of them were due to my virus scanner (avg) kicking in at certain times during the day. I shut it down and stopped most of its services that the system would allow but even then the one service left running would freeze the game when it started its scan cycle.

I get freezes when I end a conversation with an NPC, when I enter a room, when I finish a sleep cycle and a few others. I've been trying not to rant too much about it but it is just incredibly frustrating and it has pissed me off a bit that they have just released the third set of DLC and yet they still haven't fixed all of the stability issues with the original game.

All I can say is turn off your virus scanner and all of its services if you can. And if you have a soundblaster xfi under vista, install Creative Alchemy and set up a profile for fallout3.exe.

Cheers for the reply. I'm using AVG too so I guess it'll be no harm switching it off to see what happens. I don't understand how I managed to get about 20 hours of crash-free gameplay and then have this start all of a sudden, with absolutely no changes to my pc.

There's no way of telling when it'll freeze for me, this morning it froze when I went to open a footlocker. When I went to play it again a couple of hours ago I managed to play for about 40 seconds until it froze again just walking through the wasteland. Very frustrating.

First Behemoth I came across was
locked in a cage by a bunch of slavers. Had killed them all and was happily lobbing grenades into the cage at it, when it turned out I hadn't actually killed all the slavers, as two of them ambushed me. Low on health, I ran for cover, killed the first, lobbed a couple of grenades at the second, no more slavers. That's when I realised one of grenades had blown the lock on the Behemoth's cage. Lets just say things didn't end well.

Don't think I found any more though.

I found the Super Behomoths easy peasy to kill. They are slow enough to run circles around.

There are around 5 of them-got them all, youtube it to get their destinations but you should have come across one during the main storyline outside GNR.

You can also find a Behomoth in
    The ruined Capitol building
, but again is easy to kill thanks to the poor pathfinding AI & the lack of doorways that can fit the fella :D

Haha, i was watching my brother playing a few months back and almost the exact same thing happened to him.

I accidentely skipped this part. After Megaton i went straight to Rivet City to finish off the quest in Grayditch and i talked to doctor Li. Now when i go to the GNR building theres no Brotherhood around and alot of enemies! Havn't managed to beat them all yet. Probably i have missed out on this behomoth.

35 hours in and theres so much to do, i haven't explored much yet especially north of the river, there seems to be alot of deathclaws up there.

Well 60 hours in at this stage and I've explored most of the map. I've had to resort to cheating as I can't level up any more and ran out of ammo! I'm back at Rivet City to find 'Dad' and think the game ending is very near...

I havn't been bothered with this game since the DLC bug fest debacle.

I got STALKER the other day, jesus, its fantastic, and I'll live without fallout TBH because of it, will get the Clear Skies sequel soon.

Great game, Bethesda have really pissed off alot of people over the DLC bugs, and refusal to acknoledge the issues when they first arose.

So I got bored and decided to kill Three Dog. I placed a grenade in his pocket and BOOM! Didn't think he could actually die. Now there's somebody else on GNR. Ha.

I've been playing on and off since November. Put a lot of hours into it over the last few weeks and my game time is about 24 hours. I screwed up the tenpenny tower quest. I had wanted to get the ghoul mask but I killed the ghoul roy while doing the robot factory quest as I thought it would get me inside the tower and then when I went to do the tower quest the remaining ghouls saw me as an enemy so I had to kill them to get the bad result.

I tried going back to an earlier save but it doesn't seem to keep every single quicksave.

Any way to get the ghoul mask with this outcome?

I think I may stop playing for a while as I still have a lot to do in the main quest and there are some other games I want to get some time on.

I didn't know you could put grenades into people's pockets, must try it out!

Any other novelty ways of killing people off?

I just DL Broken Steel with the idea of starting a fresh game (finished once before). Should I get either of the other two add ons? I've heard they are quite short, but also that the new weapons/extra xp would make the difficult Broken Steel less so.

What? Seriously? Who is on the radio instead? Is this the main game of the DLC?

I read you should install BS for the level cap and then play the other two (so you get EXP and levels for your achievements and also so you collect some weapons for BS).

Then play BS. Its what Kotaku said anyway.

Be sure to get the Oblivion Lost mod. You'll never look back after installing it.

It's a bit of a letdown after STALKER, really.

I've not had any issues but just to see what other people have is increible.

Anchorage is very, very different from the rest of Fallout 3.
It's a simulation of the conflict in Anchorage, Alaska between the US and China and...
I really didn't find it to fit well with either the setting or mechanics of Fallout.

The Pitt wasn't that bad. The plot is interesting and the extra toys are fun for a bit but there's a little surprise that could be very useful.
Personally, I've found Broken Steel to be the strongest, if only because it finally wrapped things up nicely. Also,
so much ;_; after the destruction of Liberty Prime
    .

I got Broken Steel the other day. Definitely the best of the three DLC's. It clears up the gaping plot hole of
Fawkes not going into the reactor at the end of the main game
. Some nice new perks too. The best is the one that brings back Dogmeat if he gets killed.

The new enemies are tough as nails though.

The main game. It's an engineer/technician I think. She mumbles the odd time about someone murdering Three Dog and about trying to find a new DJ.
