    SID VICIOUS

    sycho-sid.jpg

Sid has headlined 2 WrestleManias, held the WWF and WCW World Titles and has always been booked as a main event level star. Given the right opponent Sid is more than capable of putting together a great match. I will always remember his super-heated contests with Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series '96 and Royal Rumble '97. At this stage of the draft I think a big star like Sid is a great pick and I am thrilled to add him to my roster.

    Championships Held:
    Continental Wrestling Association
    CWA Heavyweight Championship
    NWA Georgia
    NWA Georgia Heavyweight Championship
    Southeastern Championship Wrestling
    NWA Alabama Heavyweight Championship
    NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Championship

    USWA Texas Heavyweight Championship
USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship (2)
    World Championship Wrestling
    WCW United States Heavyweight Championship
    WCW World Heavyweight Championship (2)
    World Wrestling Federation
    WWF Championship (2)

    Roster so far....

    Magnum TA & Arachnaman

    magnumta.jpgarachnaman27.jpg

I'm surprised that Magnum TA lasted this long. The only reason that he never became a world champion is that he was in a car crash in 1986 that ended his career. Before that he was a very popular and successful wrestler for Jim Crockett Promotions, probably most famous for being an ally of Dusty Rhodes

Magnum TA had a real tough guy aura about him. He was also a big hit with the ladies, maybe not quite a massive feat when your competition is Dusty Rhodes, but still :pac:

He was being set up for a run with the NWA title before he had the car crash. Nikita Koloff turned face and basically took his place, beating Flair for the title

And now for his partner... Magnum had a number of tag team partners during his career. Most of them are ineligible here though, for various reasons. And the ones who are eligible don't really capture my imagination. Until I remembered a gimmick that one of his partners once did!

Magnum and Brad Armstrong (brother of Road Dogg and Scott Armstrong, the WWE ref) teamed together to win the tag titles in Championship Wrestling from Florida. Later on, in 1991 in WCW, Brad did the Arachnaman gimmick. It was a complete rip-off of Spiderman, and Marvel Comics took out a lawsuit against WCW because of it

A video of the man/spider in action:

In all seriousness though, Brad Armstrong was a highly competent wrestler, a guy who could always be relied on. It also says something about him that he now works as an agent for WWE, in the company of wrestlers like Steamboat, Malenko and Anderson. At least, he was the last I heard of him

And a video of Magnum TA to finish us off:

"I am an Arab-American and I demand respect!"

    10.jpg

I'm pretty sure this guy is still available. My pick for round 6 is a guy who I feel was one of the most intriguing heel characters introduced in recent times, the Arab-American character with a massive chip on his shoulder, you know him as Muhammad Hassan!

Hassan for me had all the attributes you want for a guy on your roster. A great gimmick, excellent on the mic, a good worker and a memorable entrance theme. It's a shame WWE had to pull the plug on the character as I feel it could have been very successful.

In his short time in WWE Hussan left a big impression and had some notable feuds with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker. Here's one of his best moments where he gets eliminated by everyone at the Royal Rumble:

I think Muhammad Hassan will be a good fit on my roster. He can talk and work which fits in well with my brand which, as you can probably guess by this stage, is geared towards being quite edgy and entertainment-based.

    MNG roster

    Round 1 pick: The Rock
Round 2 pick: Jake 'The Snake' Roberts
Round 3 pick: The Big Show
Round 4 pick: Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix
    Round 5 pick: Shane McMahon
    Round 6 pick: Muhammad Hassan

My next pick held major titles in Extreme Championship Wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance, World Championship Wrestling, and the World Wrestling Federation. He is probably most commonly known from his tag team days in the WWE, while his best work may have been in ECW.

A multi time champion individually and as a part of various tag teams.
Able to fly, able to get down on the mat, a serious contender who is able to do some of the comedy moments every roster needs

    Chris Candido.

    Not the white one
    Speed Muscle

Saw these guys in the TNA X-cup and was blown away by just how fast and great they were. Any chance that they could have been carried by MCMG was demolished when they were 1 third of a 5 star and match of the year in 2006. Super fast with an array of great double team moves they are the perfect opponents for the Eliminators IMO and have such an accesible style I fail to see how any American would not be blown away by there brilliance. Adept at Pruo and the ROH/Dragon Gate style as they are champions in both japanese companies

I feel these guys will massively aid my midcard tag team matches, very much so looking forward to a great tag team division on my shows and I have my thinking cap on for innovative ways in which I can have them defended. They will more than likely be my main heel team, for those of you unfamiliar with their looks, check out their debut here, being managed by Jimmy Hart.

Brian Knobs and Jerry Sags The Nasty Boys was one of the best heel tag teams i could think of especially when they had that megaphone carrying runt the "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart as manager. They are part of the reason why we can watch teams like Miz and Morrison today because we loved to hate these guys!

    Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch

    5872770.jpg

I'm shocked that these guys are still available. In an era where tag teams meant nothing in WWE, Cade and Murdoch managed to shine and have some great matches along the way, in the all too short time that they teamed together

These two would have been great on my roster in the last game but they were picked before I got the chance to get them. They had that '70s Southern vibe about them, somehow fitting it into the modern style that they had to wrestle in WWE

Cade has never shown as much charisma or talent as when he was teaming with Murdoch. Trained by Shawn Michaels, he was the bigger and better looking of the two, a guy who had the look of a modern star. Murdoch, trained by Harley Race, was the opposite in appearance, being the dirty trucker-type guy who lived in a trailer

Their best period came when they got to work with the Hardys I think. They had some really great matches. Their feuds with Cryme Tyme, London & Kendrick and Holly & Rhodes never captured my imagination, either due to the quality of their opponents or simply because of the lack of importance placed on them in the company. I would have loved to see what they could have done in a proper tag division filled with other talented wrestlers. Which is why I've picked them here :)

Finally, there's a side to Murdoch that many people probably don't know, mainly because he never really showed it on tv, more on the WWE website. He was an excellent talker in these segments, doing film reviews and giving tours of his trailer. He would have been great 20/30 years ago doing promos

One of their first promo videos before their debut:

    NIGEL MCGUINNESS

    Nigel+McGuinness.jpg

One of the best in the world today, he was ranked #8 in the 2008 PWI 500. I was surprised that he wasnt snapped up a couple of rounds earlier but it worked out well for me! This is a guy who could easily match the success of CM Punk if he is ever given an oppurtunity in the WWE, I think that he matches up really well with the guys already on my roster.

My seventh pick is "Mr Wonderful" Paul Orndorff.

    paulorndorff.jpg

I was surprised and delighted to discover that Orndorff debuted in 1976. I can't believe that in round 7, I'm able to add one of the biggest names in the WWF of the mid to late 80's - an era that was littered with stars. Part of the first Wrestlemania main event of course. Orndorff had an epic run with Hulk Hogan in 86 - argueably Hogan's greatest ever rival.

    Roster So Far:
    1. Mick Foley
    2. Rob Van Dam
    3. The New Age Outlaws
    4. Tazz

You could say my next pick is sweet, but to some it my be sour. The ROH fans out there might even say there is a little Sweet 'n' Sour Inc.!

    Nikita Koloff and Barry Darsow

So first, a little explanation for this one. Koloff and Darsow (wrestling under the name Krusher Khrushchev) tagged in the 80s and were co holders of the NWA World Tag titles, defending them under Freebird rules with Nikita's "uncle" Ivan.

    Nikita Koloff

    Img87.png

Koloff was a much bigger star than his being selected this late in the game would suggest and as a seventh round pick I'm absolutely delighted to have him. He was really solid worker and was capable of excellent matches when in with the right opponent. He was booked in the Main Event of Starrcade 86, one of the biggest shows in wrestling, after Magnum TA's injury, which proves that hes a guy a booker can rely on no matter what the situation. Needless to say he and Flair had a really really good match that night. Whats most striking about looking back at that match is the heat that he gained that night. It was absolutely unreal and at one stage he was attacked by an irate fan. People just don't get tha kind of reaction anymore.

Perhaps the greatest indicator of Koloff's standing and the respect in which he was held in the business was the fact that Vince was constantly trying to sign him during the 80's. It was even rumoured that he was offered an imediate run as IC champion eventually culminating in a massive feud with Hulk Hogan and later he was offered a feud with Jake Roberts, at the time one of the biggest stars in the world. However Koloff showed his loyalty and integrity as a person by sticking with the NWA, believing that his run with Magnum TA would do huge business (this never materialised due to Magnum's career being cut short dur to a tragic injury). Koloff became US champion around this time as well.

Koloff's versatilty is shown in the fact that the biggest run of his career was as a face, when he and Dusty Rhodes formed an alliance for a number of years. At that time Rhodes was THE star and putting Koloff with him shows how highly the bookers thought of him. He quickly got massively over and embarked on a long run at the top where he was one of the most beloved babyfaces in the NWA and early WCW. His in-ring skills got better and better and one of he was a major part of the first Wargames matches that is one of the few matches to take place in north America to receive 5 stars from Dave Meltzer. He also had compelling feuds with all the top stars of early WCW, with the Sting feud being particularly memorable, especially for a really good chain match at Starrcade. For 3-4 years he was a main eventer with the promotion and had historic US Title (he held the belt for a record 11 months) and TV titles. Why he was never booked as NWA/WCW champion is a mystery to me , given his uniqueness at the time, but I certainly would have no problem booking a guy of his calibre in the Main Event of my show.

So there you have it, another brilliant all-rounder to add to my roster. I have several options and ideas as to how I'll book Nikita, given that hes equally adept as heel or face. With a solid match guaranteed whenever he performs he will certainly not look out of place at the top of my card and finding a natural opponent/s for him will be relatively easy.

    Barry Darsow.

    Krusher_Khrischev.jpg

Darsow is a pick I'm delighted with for several reasons. Hes wrestled under a bewildering number of personas over the years. If I'm looking for a mid-card comedy heel I can have him work as Repo Man. If I want a ready made tag team I can keep him and Koloff together and have a classic foreign heel team. His most popular persona however was as one third of Demolition, wrestling as Smash and all going well thats how I'll use him. Similar to Bubs' Malenko/Saturn pick, I can make a later selection that shouldn't be too sought-after later in the game to get him the tag partner I want for him.

Adding a big man like Darsow to my steadily growing tag team scene adds another dimension to things. Certainly matches between Demolition and the Freebirds or Rock n Roll Express would be dream matches that have never bee seen before. Again they can be booked as menacing, monster heels, or ass-kicking no-nonsense babyfaces.

Moving away from my cruiserweight type picks, I am going for a tag team i would never in a million years have thought would have been anyway half decent. But when you do not have WWE style limitations placed upon you its amazing what can be achieved. The latter to be mentioned especially was lumbered with one of the worst smiley gimmicks imaginable in what was his last (I think) part of his WWE run. The other was utterly useless in his first run with WWE, and was released without being used in his second. However, in his decent run in TNA, people wondered why WWE had never explored this route with him in either of his periods of employment with the company.

However, it was in japan where there two came together to form this unfashionable tag team, and had some great success culminating in them winning the prestigous IWGP tag team titles. Lady and gentlemen of the draft, I present to you Travis Tomko and Giant Bernard (aka The hip hop hippo, Prince Albert)

    03.jpgmbxe1.jpg

With these two, I have 2 legitimate big men to complement the styles of pretty much everyone else on my card. Plus it gives way to a lovely little storyline I have in mind.

    Giant Bernards achievements
    * Impact Zone Wrestling

    * IZW Heavyweight Championship (1 time)

    * New Japan Pro Wrestling

    * IWGP Tag Team Championship (1 time) – with Travis Tomko

    * New Japan Cup (2006)

    * PPW Young Guns Championship (1 time)

    * Pro Wrestling Illustrated

    * PWI ranked #53 of the top 500 singles wrestlers in the PWI 500 in 2008

My next pick is someone who to me as an 8 year old was genuinely scary and as close to evil as I could imagine.
One of the top monsters of all time,a fantastic nemesis for any face.
He has battled some of the top performers on the very highest stages.

    He is

    King Kong Bundy

    25.jpg

I could have picked another monster as his partner, but I finally have full picture of where my card is going. And I think there are too many people picking people with partners just for the sake of it.

I know exactly who I want for my next 5 or 6 picks and I think i've a pretty good chance of getting them....but thats probably jinxed it right there.

    Roster so far
    Mr Perfect
    Chris Benoit
    The Road Warriors
    Scott Stiener
    Rick Steiner
    Eddie Gilbert
    Chris Candido
    King Kong Bundy

Alright everyone the pace of picks is really impressive at the moment and we've gotten through most of Round 7, with just SlickRic and Furious-Red left to go. While we wait for them to complete the current round you can plan ahead your strategies by checking out the draw for Round 8...

    Round 8 Draw:

    1. Bubs101
    2. Comic-Book-Guy
    3. flahavaj
    4. Chong
    5. Mr. Nice Guy
    6. Fozzy
    7. gimmick
    8. Minto
    9. Voltwad
    10. Jayhaitch2
    11. Orestes
    12. RebelRockChick

    15. Furious-Red

So then to summarise SlickRic and Furious-Red will finish off Round 7 and then Bubs will kick things off in Round 8.

Good luck and as always, happy pickings.

I had to check a few times to see if this guy hadn't been picked. His name alone will put some bums in seats. And in his day, he was a pretty decent worker too, especially for his size (proven by his PWI Most Improved Wrestler Award in 1993). He's a two-time WWF Champion with championship wins over Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart. I give you....
    Yokozuna

    yokozuna2.jpg
I have a couple of ideas as to how I will use him on my roster, I haven't settled on what yet, but I'm excited. I did not think I had a hope of getting a name and champion of his note at this stage. His size told the story of most of his matches before it even started, but it made it no less compelling. He had an aura about him too, that you believed he was the preverbial 'Immovable Object'. A great man, and a great character.

He can also work heel or face, widening my options up that much more.

Rodney Anoa'i died of fluid in his lungs, causing his heart to fail on October 23, 2000. He is and will always be sorely missed.

I am proud to add him to my growing roster. I'm enjoying how it's taking shape.
    Team Slick
    Sting
    Arn Anderson
    Tully Blanchard
    Barry Windham
    Jay Briscoe
    Mark Briscoe
    Austin Aries
    Ken Shamrock
    Rodney 'Yokozuna' Anoa'i

    Steve Williams and Johnny Ace
    09.jpg01.jpg

A great tag team from All Japan in the 90's, Dr. Death and the head of talent relations are in my opinion the best dominating tag team available and I'm delighted to get them now. Steve Williams was a legit tough guy who the Braw for All was made for in the WWE to get him over. Incredibly strong and a great big man he was no slouch either. 3 5 star matches (2 with Johnny) and 4 other WON awards speak to his brilliance. Honestly, I only know Ace from his current position in the WWE but any man who's good enough to have tagged with Kenta Kobashi and Steve Williams who has a match of the year has to be great value at this stage

Dr. Death video with clips of his time with Ace

    Roster
    1. Hulk Hogan
    2. Ultimate Warrior
    3. Razor Ramon and the 1-2-3 Kid
    4. Mistico
    5. Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn
    6. Naruki Doi and Mashato Yoshino
    7. Art Barr
    8. Dr. Death Steve Williams and Johnny Ace
