I doubt anyone IRA or ex IRA would try and oust a socialist, who was democratically elected by the people.

Don't try and pull that one. They'd kill anyone if there was a wedge of cash or a few guns in it for them.

This quote was taken from the sky news web site
    Quote:
"Officers attempted to arrest the armed men in the city of Santa Cruz, whose governor is a prominent critic of the president.

But they fled to a hotel where a 30-minute gun battle followed, police chief Hugo Escobar said."

This is a load of crap! There are images of the bodies of the deseased from this attack! The men are in their boxers in their hotel rooms, no guns, bullet casings or around them. The rooms that they were in certainly did not look like there was a gun fight of any sort certainly not one that lasted 30 minutes and involved grenades. Im sure these men were not chased from the city in their boxers. These men look like they were brutally murdered.

I can tell you now the irish man was not a " drug dealing scum bag" and had no affiliation with the IRA WHATSO EVER!!

This man in question was a very popular guy, didnt have any dodgy background of any sort! The truth will come out, Mike is actually a really kind man. What they are saying about his involvement is lies. If you knew the guy you would understand.

    R.I.P. Mike

So he is defo Irish then?

Care to elaborate? Why was he in Bolivia with a Hungarian Militant?

Honestly i dont know why they were killed but i new mike well! Well enough to know he was a very easy going guy and had no military background. The pictures that are starting to surface of him is playing airsoft, thats the closest he has ever gotten to a real weapon in the time i new him. I have spent the day looking around the net trying to find as much info as i can and everything is not making sense. I dont know the full details yet but My understanding was that he was over there working as an engineer.

Seriously tho does any one else not find it suspicious that the men are in their boxers in the photos, groups are saying that it is a conspiracy to try and cast doubt on the opposing parties of the current president.

I really really hope the irish media will not darken mikes name without getting the facts. I know it looks bad for him now but i really dont believe what they are saying about him

Given his apparent love of guns, militaria etc., it could be possible that he fell in with the wrong crowd over there, bit of hero worship going on for his Hunglivian buddy who was very much the mercenary type, and tagged along to play at being a real 'soldier' for once.

Also had a bit of a thing for Carlos the Jackal too. Nice South American connection.

People of any age and intelligence can 'fall in with the wrong crowd' as they say.

According to his bebo. For gods sake bebo isnt the oracle of truth. Just wait until we get more details until this stupid speculation begins.

So you suggesting he had a penchant for creating an alter ego for himself?
There's a smack of Walter Mitty about all this.

I did also include 'apparent' in my post. Take nowt for granted.

    Mental.

I am with the whole "Flee to hotel in boxers and have a shoot out? WTF" brigade.

    Seems very fishy :(

They could have been stripped down after the shoot-out. Fair practice if you're worried about concealed explosives and/or booby traps.

I feel this story is gonna get legs.....I've a feeling, hope, that this guy may have gone in the way that Brazilian chap went in London. Looks very fishy indeed....

Especially since the wound in the picture seems to be an exit wound, meaning he would have been shot in the back. And if there was a 30-minute shootout, why is his body right beside a bed? And why are there no bullet casings lying around?

All this on top of the fact that he's in his boxers and clearly was either in bed, just about to go to bed or had just gotten up. Along with the other two.
What that site doesn't tell you is that the weapons were found in a cache in a nearby park.

thank god some people are keeping an open mind about this topic anyways. He was a very good friend/ brother / son ! His death is bad enough as it is and by people calling him a terrorist is just not helping. Me and my friends understanding was that mike was over there doing a body gaurd training course which would explain the people that he was with over there,

and with regards to the c4 and weapons that were found, they were not found in the hotel, reports say that they were found in a building "near by".

And no the police would not strip a man to his boxers when he is dead. and if it was a case that they would why would they stop at the boxers if they are that paranoid.

The "lovely people" at the timesonline had a few things to say about his bebo page,
    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article6115458.ece

they claim that the results he got in the various quizes were actually his answers (anyone that uses bebo would know what im talkin bout here) , for example if you were to do a quiz on boxing your result would correspond with what kind of boxers you were which is all for fun and amusement. Its like if my house got raided and they claimed i was a terrorist because i had many playstation games of a violent nature.

"General Escóbar said that all three of the dead sported similar tattoos, suggesting that they were all trained in the same paramilitary centre. He described them as “very dangerous and determined to launch attacks”. "

That tribal tattoo he has in on half the men in the world that have tattoos.

I really really hope that the Irish representative that has gone over there finds out the truth.

No offense to you, but atm it looks like he was indeed involved in something untoward. He fits the description of somebody that fancied himself as a mercenary and followed a path to fulfill that idea.

If I'm wrong, I apologize deeply

That didn't take long, those Americans get blamed for everything, even with Obama in power.

Just get up to speed on history and you will learn the US governement has financed and/or leaded an incredible number of assassinations and political destabilisations in many Southern American countries since the last 20 years.
I am not making anything up. This is history.

Look tbh what you say could be true and that would be a shame and all but it's a whole lot more circumstantial than what's coming from the other end. So I'm going to go with them until I get proof otherwise.

And yes, police and anti-terrorist units in particular do strip down suspects in cases where they are concerned about explosives. You can be sure they checked under the boxers ffs if that's what's concerning you about this, they leave them on for the photographs.

Plus they seem to have witnesses to back it all up too.Strange that.

I hadn't seen the pictures at that stage. Just pointing out that a suspected mercenary from these parts would more like than not be FFL than our own Defence Forces, or British Army, as someone else was supposing. Either way ex- is ex- so weight/conditioning could have deteriorated.

A bigger contra is if he was ex-FFL he'd still be alive ;)
