Even though he regretted not getting to Raven Rock on time to help me escape. Very poor scripting from what was otherwise a great game. Also, I went into the Project Purity control room with piles of RadX and Radaway with me and had something like 85% radiation resistance. Lame.

Yeah, that bugged me a bit. You've a perfectly logical option and aren't allowed use it. And it's probably the only place in the game where that happens.

It would have been the real reward for
rescuing him in the first place
    other than having
a near indestructable, gatling laser weilding lunatic as a companion

    They allow
you to send Lyons in why not Fawkes

    Then everyone
would survive, allowing you to continue the game to complete the other missions

I found the ending very disapppointing especially after reading about all the effort they went to make sure there was lots of variations. (I watched several on YouTube too to make sure I wasn't just unlucky).

There was lots of loose ends and more could have been made of the final battle.
That robot was nearly too powerful, apart from when he kept getting stuck on the bridge because of some stupid flaw in the game.

Hopefully the third DLC will rectify things.

    Apart from that, great game!

Stupid operation anchorage bug :( Once I finished the DLC it said I had completed the shoot them in the head quest despite only having pick pocketed one key :(

When the continuation of the main quest is released, maybe those will become options for ending the game.

I would hope so, and have a more logical ending to the extended quest.

Is the PC version still sold through that gowawful Games for Windows platform? Or can you purchase it elsewhere? Am simply not going to waste my cash on the G4W if it still is...

Still a tad short (I finished it full (100 ingots and all) in around 4hours)

Much better than Operation Anchorage. (For the following reasons)

    Pittsburgh is a nice area.
Highest Point in Fallout3 I believe is here
New Perks given (I got 3)
Lots and lots of new Armor and Weapons (You get something for every ten ingots you get)
Storyline is decent enough, it plays the good vs bad karma well.
    New enemies called trogs.
More reasons to come back after the main quest has been finished.

I hadn't actually played Fallout 3 in a while actually, so as the Pitt was more like classic Fallout I thought I would give the game a spin before deciding whether to ... "buy" the DLC (if you know what I mean). I discovered something though; I found I hated Fallout 3.

I dunno what happened in the interim between when I played it regularly and coming back to it last night, but the terrible AI, awful animation, atrocious combat controls and general feeling like the game was about to fall over (are Bethesda Russian in disguise?) made me turn off the game and scratch my head. All the things I ignored with Oblivion (particularly the combat) just wound me up something rotten with Fallout 3.

Don't think I'll be back to this game again, DLC or no DLC ... :(

I pretty much have to agree with your assessment. I only really played through the story missions without really exploring the Pitt in detail. I finished the story in about 2 and a half hours
I sided with the raiders and betrayed werhner as im playing the game as a bad character
but given you have several options about how you complete the story it gives more replay value than Anchorage. Im going to explore the Pitt a bit more now though.

Just jumped into my saved game of this from 4 months back. Its like reading a brilliant book that I put down long ago. I randomly picked a quest somewhere in my log and 5 minutes in I was getting critical hits on slavers with no idea why I was killling them, but enjoying it regardless.

Such an excellent game, but more importantly, such a great game engine. Its like they took Oblivion, got rid of the main problems and modernized the the theme. Love it. Just wish i had more hours in the day to play it.

I'm just after speaking to the NPC in the wasteland who tells you to go to a train yard to get to the pitt, and the game freezes once it has to load this area, whenever I get close to it.

Is anyone else getting this? There are a few results for issues with this DLC on xbox, anchorage was pretty glitchless, but this wont work at all.

    Any one else get this?

    Thanks.

It seems to be a very common glitch, this is a joke, I got the gamer points just to get the pitt.

thought the pitt was alright enjoyable few hours of game play

anyone seen any updates about broken steel yet?

I found this game way too short. The level cap should of been higher/harder to reach. The main plot seems short and took no length to finish. Compared to fallout 2 its weak in my opinion. Looked very good all the same

You must play really long games if you found this one short. I got nearly 60 hours out of it. Did you do all the side quests?

Well I went off the path untill I was fully leveled (without the cheat) Did'nt have any trouble with AI so I just continued on the main missions and to my surprise it was over. I'll be the first to admit I missed a few side quests but whats the point when your fully leveled with the best weapons? I enjoyed it while it lasted but I just think Fallout 2 had more to offer! If you went off the path too early in 2 you were dead lol

Another reason was that the weapon choices in 3 are less than 2. I so wanted the browning and the bozar

Game took me well over 50 hours cos of the side missions. They are far better than the main quest which is the main reason to do them.

Yeah I get that but did'nt realise I was close to the end because there are'nt that many main missions. IF it had all the weapons of 2 it would of been a class game

I haven't been keeping up with this thread so I'm not sure if this was discussed:
I have the pc version. Any time I played it, the music on the radio station would constantly stutter but the sound would clear when Three Dog started talking. I had assumed this was supposed to be an effect in the game due to a bad radio signal, but it turns out it's an issue with the game and that the music was supposed to be pretty much crystal clear. I only copped it on Sunday when I had to do an ALT+Tab to the desktop and the music suddenly started paying ok.

Turns out for me it was an issue with creative sound cards in vista with apps trying to use direct sound instead of openal. I had to install Creative Alchemy and the stuttering music seems to have disappeared.

Thread about it here (ironically a playstation board):

    http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:6P-PcXrseQAJ:boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message%3Fboard.id%3Dofftopic%26thread.id%3D3089056%26page%3D2+fallout+3+music+stutters&cd=10&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ie

I found lots of other message boards with many people having the same problem and a lot of them convinced (like me) that it was actually an in game effect .

There are also other details for fixing it using AC3Filter:
    http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=824301

This option also worked for me but had the side effect of killing the voice acting volume.

Just in case anyone has experienced this issue.

Avoid the highly rated GTS travel system mod at all costs. All it does is plant a big ugly car every where you fast travel and occasionally you will end up in the middle of nowhere fighting 3 yaoi gui and two giant radscorpions. Maybe when you're level 20 but I would definitely avoid. The new worlds are fairly crap too.

    Dogmeat got killed! nooooooo

I'm enjoying the game so far. I have played about 15 hours now but haven't made much progress in the main story yet.

I had a oh fu%k moment last night. I am only level 7 and i have a lockpick skill of 37 or so. I came across the Chryslar building and investigated it anyway. Inside i went up to the 2nd floor and dropped down past the locked door on the first floor through the roof. The door needs a lockpick skill of at least 50 to open. Well got in and saved the game. Then I was confronted by loads of super mutants in the basement and i couldn't get out as you needed a lockpick skill of over 50 to get out. Lucky for me they keep a save automatically of the last time you slept so i just re loaded from there. I would have been so pissed off if i had to start again.

Don't know if this question has been asked or answered but...

I didn't get the other dlc. If I was to purchase Broken Steel which raises the cap, then buy the other 2 dlc, will I be able to increase my levels while playing the earlier dlc too?
