Would you say the same if it were a man?

Would a man in this condition have been allowed to keep his child?

God yea - my comment had nothing do with what sex she was. She was mentally ill. I don't see how her sex has anything to do with it.

As for whether a man in this condition would have been allowed to keep his child - can't answer that one. In this case child was an adult too. Would hope no child would be subjected to the dangers of living with a mentally ill parent - regardless of gender of parent.

Just wondering if my username was unisex would you have made your comment? Your assumption is Im female - Im assuming your male....

say what you will about the dangers of guns, it won't be until the government steps in and makes automobiles illegal that we can really make life safer for the children.

Yep.....guns should be banned from gun ranges....or at the very least bullets.

Gun ranges in just about every town, thats for sure. But deranged mothers doing that? not so much. Unless you happen to know for a fact this happens on a regular basis, which, you don't.

Sick Marie Moore took her 20-year-old son Mitchell to a shooting range for what he thought would be an afternoon's firing practice.

But as he aimed at the target in front of him, the crazed mum pulled the trigger and gunned down Mitchell at point blank range in Casselberry, Florida.

“I’m so sorry. I had to send my son to heaven and myself to Hell,” she wrote in a suicide note.

    Pretty mental.

No mention on Boards of the guy in Germany two days ago who shot three people in a courtroom before killing himself? (At least, I've not seen it)

Of course, doing so doesn't fit in with the whole "Americans and their guns, particularly, are crazy" meme...

    Well,

    a) He wasn't American, so naturally it wouldn't fit into the Crazy Americans meme

    and

    b) When was the last time you heard of a German schoolkid going on a shooting rampage? If it becomes as regular an event in Germany as it is in the states, then maybe you'll start seeing "crazy Germans and their guns" threads.

A cook opened fire on members of his family in a German courthouse yesterday, murdering his sister-in-law and leaving two other people seriously injured before turning his gun on himself.
The 60-year-old, identified only as Franz Josef N, shot his relative during a break in a court hearing relating to a long-running inheritance dispute between himself and his six siblings.
He began firing outside courtroom eight at the regional court building in Landshut, Bavaria, killing the 48-year-old wife of one brother and wounding another sister-in-law as well as one of the lawyers involved in the case.
As people elsewhere in the building barricaded themselves inside rooms and jumped out of windows at the sound of gunfire, he then took his legally held Magnum revolver into an adjacent room and committed suicide.

Anywho, american news gets more coverage for a lot of reasons. For a start its the largest english speaking country in the world, with a hugely powerful media machine and a lot of english-interweb is predominantly US. It also happens to be the leading superpower. Then there was the Bush years... we get a lot of attention; not all of it good.

If this sort of thing happened here the government would ban anything more lethal than a pencil parer - yet the US government refuses to do anything about gun law.

I know it's written into the constitution, but this is one place where that article MUST be torn up if all the hick dip****s vote no to a change.

NO guns by ANY citizen who hasn't specifically proven through veriable witnesses that they need it for hunting in an organised manner or for farming/vermin etc. Much more stringent checks need to be done also, as well as re-checking EVRY YEAR.

Umm.. Two weeks ago? 17-year-old shot and killed nine students, three teachers and three passers-by.

Then there was the 18-year-old who shot 11 people before killing himself in a school in Emsdetten about 30 months ago. He wasn't very good, though, they all survived their wounds.

They had two school shooting sprees within two months in 2002. 12 teachers, two students, a staff worker and a cop killed before the shooter killed himself in one, three shot and one wounded before the gunman topped himself in the other.

Not bad, considering their smaller population than the US.

Listen to this 911 call, and tell the woman she's only allowed have a gun to hunt vermin.

Try breaking into my house when I'm at home. I'll give you a quick (and violent) review of your priorities.

On a more practical level, when they arise you can go up against the zombies at close range with a hurley. Personally, I'm keeping them as far from my brains as possible.

Another college shooting. Again, though, it seems the shooter was an idiot. Three wounded, one dead, himself. Guess which continent it was in?
