I certainly don't know for sure but I reckon there are at least 50 private hosted forums if
not more they augment the site they don't take from it and the issues with posters,
mostly female posters stopping posting in the ladies lounge had nothing to do with the two
private hosted forums that I am aware of that have only female members, for all I know
there could be 10 more which are just the same /shrug.

Sure the same thing could be leveled at the socail groups that sprung up recently.

I don't think that people get 'shot down' for having a differnt or differing opinion
again like I have said before it's not what you say it's the way that you say it.

So what has the private forum got going for it that TLL doesn't?
Why is the private forum working?
It's working well because its open and honest. and its for ladies. and its mature. and its fun. and its serious. . . damm, the list is endless!

I really don't see the point of discussing any private hosted forum in a thread about the ladies lounge which is a public foum.

And getting back on topic, I am starting to feel there are far to many serious threads in here atm, might sound odd coming from me but still, eh um yeah.

I really don't think private forums have anything to do with it to be honest

I think people leaving tLL to go to a private forum means a private forum has a lot to do with it, no? Unless they post in both

Or does that go down as a challenging/argumentative post..at this stage this thread has only blurred the lines for me significantly. It actually hasn't clarified a thing personally

My god are ye women ever happy, there are too many stupid threads, there are too many serious threads, there are too many guys, they are too many smart comments..

You have been given an forum dedicated to you guys, the women on boards, use it. Post funny threads, post serious threads, post whatever threads you feel are important to you or something that makes you smile!

I'm not going to say it again, this is a forum for women.. thats what i am, thats what you lot are, stop looking to poke holes in the place, use it!

And private forums are just that, Private, i would apperciate it if you stopped talking about them in a public forum.

Nobody left to go elsewhere, people stopped or cut down posting in here because they didn't like the road TLL was going down. This feedback thread is exactly to find out why people stopped posting and there's plenty of points to start working off and the mods are doing so. Items outside TLL are irrelevent, we are being given the chance now to make TLL a better place to be, if you have any suggestions on how you can enjoy TLL better then please feel free to share.

Ive started reporting the threads/posts that bother me instead of getting annoyed & leaving, & i think in every case i have the mods have been very quick to either remove the post or warn the poster.

    So thanks :)

I concur with sar84, great jobs mods :) I'm really liking the turn around and the mod stick being used (I hope said mod stick is sparkly as I like sparkly things but not pink, I really don't like that colour).

I'm now posting more so could I please have a few hours of my life back please? :D

With regard to the nature of posts, my opinion is that it's a cycles thing (not of the menstrual mind). It doesn't bother me the material us ladies choose to post a topic on. I'll post/read some and not others, same as any forum in this place.

    A.

    Cathooo nails it IMHO.
i find tll very exclusive, if you have opinions which differ from the majority, you are very much out of it,
Which could be said for any forum hereabouts and this thread is seeking to improve and/or reduce such exclusivity.
i am a lady, i am more into the equality for all genders rather then then all men are bastards or women are better then men in everyway.
Laudable and I would agree with you.
my opinions dont sit well on this forum
Quite a few who post here share your opinions, yet still post.

All fine but this following BS I couldn't let go as it's downright insulting to many here.
this is why most intelligent women dont post here, they are just continiously shot down.

i also think the the private forum has a lot to do with it, which only leaves the men to post and the girls that the private forum dont like
The "girls" the private forum "don't like"? Give me an ever loving break.. If I may paraphrase Groucho Marx "I don’t care to belong to any club that will welcome that kind of attitude as a member" Jeez the air must be fierce rarefied from the saddle of that high horse. And if on the one hand you're talking about exclusivity and then post that? Irony ain't in it.

BTW it's not "then" in that context, it's "than" and it's not "continiously" it's "continuously". If one is trying to make a point about ones purported "intelligence" or simply to strike points/be bitchy, then it would serve to at least phrase and spell correctly.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

You've actually managed to insult the women who post here and those who choose not to simultaneously.

Put a subsection for the men to ask questions in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,285 ✭✭✭DancingDaisy

I haven't really posted in tLL before now, purely because I was very intimidated by a lot of the people posting. I do feel that in the last few weeks there has been a change, and I have posted a handful of times.

The feeling of exclusivity has decreased, which can only be a good thing, and I don't feel I'm going to be laughed at for making a silly comment etc. which was a feeling that I had before.

So just to say well done to the mods, I think there has been an amazing turnaround in the last few weeks. However, to the_syco, why would a section for guys to ask questions in exist in tLL? What kind of questions could you possibly want to ask?

What sort of questions do you have in mind?

There's a gift & festivity & party ideas forum for all the 'what will I get my gf for her birthday?' 'mothers day presents' 'ladies what do YOU think are good valentines presents' etc.

There's personal issues forum for 'How do I break up with my girlfriend', 'I cant meet anyone' 'why is my OH not speaking to me'

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭Ginny

TBh my posting has decreased across boards, not just TLL.
The whole original pics thread in TLL was handled very well by all the mods concerned, but it brought home to me how important it is to restrict what personal info etc. I post, hence the decrease.
As for private forums, there's loads of them, and I find it funny that there's a mod of one in here claiming the lack of posting is down to another private forum.
I post in TLL when something comes up that grabs my attention, there's been a lot of threads recently that don't do that, and if they do I go into them and there is a lot of back and forth fighting where the OP seems to have been lost among the arguing and in IMO doesn't attract any new posters to contribute.
I think a lot of people are reluctant to report a post or PM a mod when things get out of hand, which in itself is a shame, as this is one of the ways mods get daily feedback from the contributors.
All in all I like TLL and always check in and read the threads, and I think the mods are doing a great job.

Tbh I'd find that fairly insulting and patronising.

    On another, more pedantic note:

Could an apostrophe be added after "Ladies" in the title of the forum? It's been annoying me for a while.

    Thanks :)

Can the mods come down heavy on pedantry too please:rolleyes:

..Still I find it very difficult to say that tLL is not well-guided and regressing.

    Okie Pokie Folkies... :D

Im gonna unstick this thread in the next few day, but not close it, this thread will always be around for people to post comments or suggestions to improve our forum. I, personally, think that there has been a hugh turn around in the lounge, for the better. Thanks to everyone for their input and suggestions. Hopefully we will go from strength to strength!

    OK, here's a suggestion:

How about we have the one extra forum that acts as a buffer between BERGURREEHAI (BGRH) and LL for the manly and girly questions? I.E.. a man with questions for women goes there, and a woman with questions for men goes to the same forum. We could call it "battle of the sexes" (ok scratch that last part)

Or, we make a point that if a man wants to ask wimmin's opinions, he posts in BGRH with a tag like "wimmin's opinions required", and vice versa for LL.

Better to ask a stupid question, than make a life-changing mistake because you were afraid to ask.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,756 ✭✭✭Jules

what kind of questions would you suggest for this forum?

Well for example, (TMI alert! nothing X rated, but possibly gross)
"Do women prefer to see a shaven chest or like the 70s look au naturel chest rug."

Or what do women want in a man?

However as a guest in LL I would not ask either of these (nor am I asking now, for that matter!). And while the question would go down ok in BGRH, the brethren would wince at the suggestion of, say, wax.

As for the general direction of tLL, I'm a newcomer, so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

hang on, I'm an Engineer, i mean "If it ain't broke, it hasn't enough features yet."(<----ignore ignore ignore!)

Some of the serious threads bug the crap out of me when all it is is moaning and crying and the typical replies ''aw no you are great and its not your fault'' type things. it just sometimes reminds me of P.I.

There can also be alot of uptightedness also, some posters just take things waaaaay to seriously and obviously dont want to boys around, or the funny threads!

I have to agree with this, there's an awful lot of @ss kissing goes on in the ladies lounge, and there's also a pack mentality.

Basically i think a lot of what i see on The Ladies Lounge just makes girls look like moaney h0les who cant have a laugh.

Someone posted earlier its like afterhours but for grown ups ? I think its more like AH without the sense of humour!

    less boys.
every thread i happen to stumble on there is always some goons going "male point of opinion here". REALLY! SUPER! they really should have gone to you in the first place. now stop posting here cos the most you are going to get is a brush of side boob in the line for the bar

I noted the thanks of two mods to Jezzy's post above.

    Should I just go now?

I do not have the words to comment on this that wouldnt degenerate into dowright insulting you so I wont even bother.

I post on here because I enjoy the banter, its a bit of fun and there are some genuinely nice people that post here that I like interacting with.

If you feel so strongly then go to the help desk and ask it to be made a female only forum instead of making sly comments and insinuations.
