Thought it was offensive, very much a Partridge moment. It is basically the flagship show of the national broadcaster. Can you imagine the uproar if this was the BBC. It was a very tasteless comment in my opinion, and I'm very surprised a bigger deal wasnt made of it. Rabble rabble.
I also hate Pat Kenny and this is just another string on my bow of hate. But it was an awful thing to say. And it wasn't even funny.

So many people think this lad is ****e and yet there he is able to take a pay cut of 80K. Jeeeeeez imagine being on 80K full stop!!!!. He is grossly overpaid, hopeless on TV (not bad on radio) and as stiff as a poker.

And yet there he is every freakin week on the box on a friday night.

How can we get rid of him?. Consign him to radio only and cut his salary by at least 50%.

It's not really racist in the sense that Kenny wasn't saying anything dismissive or exactly negative about black people .But it was a rather well...odd thing to say for the (sadly) most prolific tv presenter in a supposedly modern and cosmopolitan country.

The fact was it was simply un-necessary. Why did he have too bring color into it at all? It shows Kenny to be rather out-of-touch with popular culture and Irish society in general. I don't think so. He comes from a generation where that sort of thing was acceptable. It was a slip of the tongue.

His presenting skills are another topic for another day.

Also, that garden thing was settled out of court and he was never found guilty of any wrongdoing. This site is libable for any disparaging comments. Please remember that when posting.

Pat kenny is one of the best presenters we have in this country and his Radio show is one of the most positive in the current recession.It recently had a work shop looking for ideas to get us out of this recession. he also does his homework for all his shows and is well read on every subject he covers on both Radio and Tv. You can't say anything in this country about Blacks or Foreign nationals and somebody labels u racist....get a life and if u don't like his shows change the channel!

Does his homework and is well read? Did you see the Pete Doherty interview? And after reading your final line, I was waiting for the "Some of my best friends are black".

I thought it was more derogatory to little Jack and white people "oh, you'll have to black up your face to make it as a dancer". But that's neither here nor there. The main point here - whether you think it was foolish, racist or offensive - this guy is paid 800 grand of your money every year. I expect a higher standard. Much higher.
