Jade Goody has passed on, what are people's thoughts on her now,d oes anyone think any differently now that she's dead?

There is already a condolence thread for her, this is more for general discussion.

TBH she never really bothered me - but the fact is her death has saved a lot of womens lives so well done her for not hiding away

I think the sun had her done as Ms Piggy.

Would she care tbh.I mean pigs are short-sighted but are friendly animals wheras cows are very curious and big.

I think the increase in smear tests is a byproduct of her putting herself in the spotlight rather than Jade consciously trying to increase awareness.

Meh. Diana was a chav herself. She was just born into money and married more of it.

I think Diana was fairly villified in the press before she was dead too. The whole Peoples Princess thing was after she painted that mercedes with her head wasn't it?

This young lady will be the same. It'll take the Sun a long time to remember they called her a fat pig all those years ago.......because that wouldn't sell papers.....

....and also your average Sun reader would not recall events from...say...yesterday.

Just replying to the thread. I don't recall expressing an opinion. Don't know why I bothered actually.

I'm not down with all the celebrity gossip and what not, but my sister told me that supposedly Jade was due to go into the doctor (possibly called for a check up) well before she was diagnosed. She said she was too busy and cancelled the appointment. If this is true, and she had gone to the doc, the cancer would've been spotted in the early stages, and she would've had to have gone under the knife for what I'm told is a routine operation.

it is sad when anybody dies especially as young as jade goody...and the positive from her death was the cervical cancer awareness that it triggered....

BUT...i think there is a fairly disturbing aspect to all of this...the fact that reality TV is going beyond the slightly dystopian vision highlighted in films like 'the truman show'...to a dark fascination of actually wanting to see the trials of someone just before death....Big brother creators are fairly amoral in my opinions...basing the show on the stanford prison experiment of 1971 knowing the mental effects of confinement and using it for monetary gain....
of course this change in tv broadcasting to a more invasive personal 'gonzo' approach was embraced and fuelled a hunger from the majority of the tv viewing public...and just like coronation street ..the writers had to think of more extreme shows to keep the ratings higher.....to the point where brainwashed people find it perfectly acceptable to allow film crews into their homes for people to analyse their young childrens dysfunctionality (or lack of)...which is then watched by half the planet who want more real live reality whether dark, happy or otherwise....Jade goody was part of the brainwashed posse who found this acceptable....but in reality it should'nt be......

i cant wait to see a live execution...with a close up of the eyes....watching....it probably will happen and ratings will soar....

it makes me mad when people like ye post total crap like ye have

1, yes she was a chav but a nice one . if any of ye have young kids and find out ye were going to die would ye not try to make as much as ye could to for them before ye died ?

    2. from her been diagnosed with cancer she bought it into world focus and loads of young girls have now had checks done who would not have bothered .if by doing this she has saved one person then what she done was right and for people to say otherwise is bull .

But as pointed out,its not like cancer was an unknown illness.

I dont hate her just because of these recent events but rather the fact she is famous just because she got naked in a house and then forced herself on the public.

    1. No if I had kids Id rather spend my time spending every minute with them not with my PR agent trying to squeeze every penny out of it.

    2. Fair enough. If that much good comes out of it I do applaud. Then there are plenty of people who voluntarily try to raise awareness and give up their time for nothing but a cause the believe in. They should be the ones applauded here.

What I dont't understand is why everyone makes a fuss over some one they don't know, who died, I could understand if she was a distant cousin but she's not....

With out sounding to blunt I dont really care. i relaise in some way I may of contrbuted to this thread but tbh i only contrabuted that i don't really care...

I was more saddened bye the death of james brown and john martin at least those cats had carisma and made some damm good music.

Oh it's crap because it's not the same as your opinion?
1, yes she was a chav but a nice one
Explain to me how she was "nice"?

It was hardly her intention to raise awareness of cervical cancer - it's laughable the way she gets credited with this.

I agree though, she may as well have used the publicity to make money for her sons.

I hated everything the woman was about, and how she lived her life. But I'd definitely stop short of wishing death on her, I don't think anyone would deserve that.

Saying that, I've made my fair share of jokes.

I thought it was that Jade had gone and asked for a smear test / scan when she was younger ,that would have shown up her cancer but was told she was to young .This is why she wanted to make the public aware and bring the age group for such test to under 25s, to prevent late Diagnosis on other young women which in her case, if detected earlier ,might have prevented the cancer spreading .

I think you would feel differently if you did have kids, tbh.

You would probably spend a lot of time thinking of things that might happen to them or situations they might be in where they need money.

You would most definitely not want to die knowing there was not enough money to look after them until they were old enough to earn for themselves.

IMO, Jade did what any parent would, who loved their kids, if they got the chance.

If the chance is there, take it.
She did,and if she hadn't then that would have been stupid, don't you think?

I think Jade has always represented something more than she was- she was the personification of the "famous for nothing" the "successful for all the wrong reasons" reality show celebrity era that alot of working people resent

but then she was just a human, she made some mistakes- which she paid for and she took some risks that paid off.

She never was someone who should have been celebrated but she never did anything to be demonised in death for either

Maybe I would, I can only say how I feel ATM. However let's not pretend like her kids would have been like something out of Oliver. The woman was already a Millionaire, their Grandmother is still alive too and their father (as far as I know). Given those circumstances I think I'd rather a few normal private weeks/months with my kids.

Boards.ie doesn't want to be seen to be a platform for cruelty and vulgarity at the expense of a young mother who has just died of cancer.

How badly did Jade need money for her kid's tho? I was under the impression she had made quite a bit with the aftermath of her original BB stint, the various big pay outs for interviews, keep fit vids and perfume. I know the racist stuff on CBB ****ed up some **** for her but not to the point she was completly skint?

As far as I know Shooter, she wasn't wealthy in the way you might think.
After the whole BB-Shilpa fiasco she lost out on all deals that were on the table.

So, she saw a way to make money back through her illness. I honestly can't blame her.
She was never going to be around to benefit from it and she knew that.
But she also knew that her kids would.

I am not a major fan of hers but I can see why she did what she did.

I'd imagine it's about the loss of control. She'd probably always imagined that, whatever her kids needs were in the future, the money was there and if necessary she could always find ways to make more. When she found out she was dying, that control was taken from her.

In her final months I suppose it made her happy to know that, if her kids in the future needed money for medical expenses/education/who knows what else, she had ensured that the money was there. And if that's what made a dying woman happy, who are we to begrudge her that?

For the record, I'm not a Jade fan. I just think it's appropriate to allow others to choose their own ways of living (and dying) without judging them.

If we are to be honest, she was a media craving wart on society. Any good that has come as a result of her cancer is an auspicious side affect of her media whoring nature.

That probably sounds very cruel, but it's simply the truth as I see it.

Last year she was a racist........and now shes a hero!! never liked her and im not going to pretend i ever did! peoples opinion changed just because she died....people only liked her because she was blatently annoying and stupid which equalled entertaining.

Boards.ie is a privately owned forum. There is no free speech here. You would know that if you read the charter.
I'd also like to point out that the is no such thing as free speech under Irish law. This is an Irish based website and is subject to Irish law.
You can thank the government for that.

I don't like blatantly annoying people.
    Who does?
And it doesn't equal entertainment afaik.

She is dead and gone now, so there won't be anymore Jade Threads, hopefully.

I never watched big brother and only ever knew of her from sunday newspapers that my parents bought, I was out of the country for 4 years and since returning I don't buy red tops so I was never really bothered by her being in the media. I do think it speaks volumes about both our society and agents/managers to see people get famous for doing nothing. But fair play to the woman she made money for herself and children.

I didn't know she had cancer until I read somewhere that she was told it spread and was terminal. It sends chills down my spine to imagine how it must feel to be told your children will grow up witout you and you only have a short time left with them. Hopefully they will be well taken care of with her money.
