The lolcat bit or the bible?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Hopefully this "That looks photoshopped" thing doesn't catch on. Otherwise that will be it.

c'mon..u know it's going to..all those poor deluded "yore ma" wits are just waiting for the next big catchphrase to come along.
Hell..most of them won't even probably know what photoshop is but that will hardly prevent them from saying it :(

Is there a tread anywhere on boards that lists: acronym/definition ?

This site is very politically correct; unlike some of the acronyms used on boards.

But I am sure it's a good start.
    Thanks for the link.

    It is.
    :eek::eek::eek: No!!
I have to disagree, I love acronyms.

I would go as far as to say Aconyms FTW!

FTW, TBH, IMO, BTW, WTF - none of these are acronyms. They're just abbreviations. An acronym has to spell another word: like "scuba" (self contained underwater breathing aparatus). "LOL" is an acronym though, because people say it as an actual word. "ROFL" is an acronym too - but the rest aren't...they're just abbreviations.

I suppose 'acronym' could be an annoying phrase that people use on here, because most of them don't know what is actually means! Oh, teh ironing....

Anyone who uses 'how's the view from your high horse' or any variant thereof when disagreeing with someone. Usually in Motors.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet but "in before the lock" is a pointless phrase. It screams "I want to increase my post count by any means possible."

Is there another reason as to why people do this, or are people just that sad?

They're just that sad. It's more annoying when some tool says "yore ma", and a load of sheep then thank them - as if it was really clever to think of posting it....baffling.

"yore ma" and "+1" should be site banable.

that '+1' thing is horrendous..... its akin to a beastiality!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 228 ✭✭omyatari

'teh' really annoys me-it just ain't funny!

i actualy cought myself typing that every now and again, but as an honest typing mistake, typing the "e" faster then the "h"

    suddenly i feel deeply ashamed...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,094 ✭✭✭✭javaboy

    Yeah I hate that too.

    So...
You wanna shoot yourself or have me do it?:)

    Ha! P0wn3d!

Can you dig the ironing? I hate yore ma, IBTL and +1 when it's the only thing the post contains. It's ok if it's used in an "I agree now here's why" kind of way but on its own, no. Same goes for "This".

"angry much" sort of makes sense. I saw someone say "contradiction much" which just makes no sense at all.

To be fair, it could just be a typing error! But I dont get why anyone would find it funny.

You mean, you don't get why people find it "teh funneh". That's what the cool kids would say.

I believe you may have the wrong end of the stick there old bean. :)

Abrivation is to shorten, like saying Psych rather then psychological, auto instead of automatic etc., (note, etc instead of etcetera). It does not have to spell a word. 'Scuba' as a word did not exist before the acromym S.C.U.B.A.

Acronyms are abrivations of phrases or names made from the first letter of the words in that phrase or name, such as FTW.

    Oh, teh ironing indeed.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

"Welcome to the internet" is another one.

No f**k it. LOLcats FTW! You think acronyms are lame? .. well so's yore ma! I for one welcome our 3-Letter overlords. This thread is full of fail.

"TBH, IMO, IBTL... why do people type this things? What do they even mean?"
    /facepalm

    Welcome to teh internet.

serves no function except to annoy the recipient whilst similtaneously identifying the composer as a total dipshít.
It depends. When it's used as a response to someone who is hugely talking out their arse, it's appropriate.
But when it's just used on its own because the poster disagrees... that person is officially being a kuntbag.
This site is very politically correct
Hardly. Look at the Fritzl thread - or the Down's Syndrome thread.

Mine are: "What about freedom of speech?" Er... what about it? This isn't a state website so democracy isn't a priority. Plus, libel laws are libel laws.

"This website is so ****ing PC" (not singling you out alexander.t). Just because this website doesn't want to be a platform for racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic, sectarian, etc views, doesn't make it "PC". It's got a reputation to consider - is Stormfront highly regarded? No. Boards.ie would like to be though.

And "sekkrit" - an alternative spelling of "secret" - how quirky! It looks like it should be pronounced "seh-krit" anyway, as opposed to "see-krit".

I despise the phrase "this is after hours" when used in the context of describing how "zany" and "crazy" this section of boards is. e.g

Random c.unt poster: "generic "controversial" humourless comment

Poster 2: "actually thats a bit out of order"

Random c.unt poster: "This is after hours, i can say what i like who do you think you are to come in here and say i'm wrong, men died in 1916 so i can speak my mind in after hours okay so kindly GTFO because that is my opinion okay miss thang!! this is after hours and im entitled to my opininion no matter how worthless juvenille and disgusting it might be okay"

    Poster 2: "You're an idiot"

    Mod: "Poster 2 banned"

Exactly. The whole "PC Brigade" stereotyping is really annoying. Some people assume that just because you express some ''left wing'' views, you're automatically a hippie. Or worse, a 'celtic-tiger cub' who lives off daddy's money and has no experience of the real world. Boards far from ''too pc".

Also, the "hot Eastern European women are so much hotter than Irish women thing'' is also annoying. Well, just the slagging of Irish women in general. And if you complain about it you're a 'feminist'.
