Haven't been to many european festival but I have to say I LOVE rock am ring, I had the best time there last year. Not too sure about todays announcements but they generally announce great bands right up to final announcement so I wouldn't be too worried!

I can recommend Heineken Open'Er in Gdynia, Poland. 4 days long festival, great atmosphere and over 100 stars.

I'm going to Rock Werchter but that looks really good, will keep in mind in the future! I say it's cheap enough too is it, food drink etc?

Couple that festival with a chillout break in Gdansk or Krakow afterwards, it would make a nice trip!

It costs like less than €80:eek: Thats very good value, as its 4 days including camping.

Woo . Yeah that's really good value and the line-up is good! I love travelling to Poland too so i'm definitely going to keep this festival in mind!

Boards is how i discovered Rock Werchter three years ago too!

The list of the artists is incomplete now, there will be much more of them. I've been working there last year (backstage stuff/supervising) and must say the atmosphere was great!

Lots of trailers with different food, I think Pizza Hut or some other popular pizza chain had their trailers there as well as trailers with food for vegetarians, BBQ food etc.

The only beer you can buy is Heineken, and you can't bring your own alcohol.

We had 7 stages last year. Every stage with different type of music so everyone will find something for himself. Festival collected over 100 international stars last year, such as The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Jay-Z, Sex Pistols and many many more.

Two of the stages were located in giant Nuclear Bunker! Unfortunately guests were not allowed to go deep inside as it was protected by armed soldiers who were patrolling them for 24h, nice guys by the way.

NGOs had their space too. Greens, Amnesty International and many more organizations and foundations were making their happenings, collecting signatures or presenting some photographies. They were not allowed to do that outside of NGO area so there's no chance that they will disturb you during the event in any other place except NGO area.

It was very safe and except few tent robberies nothing bad really happened.

Medical help is free and very helpful.

Poland is full of festivals during the summer. Every big city has its own.

Another interesting Polish festival is Coke Live Music Festival which take place in Krakow.

They have one of the Europe's biggest country music festival, comedy festivals, big Christian events with lots of Gospel music, techno and electronic music festivals (including few on the beach) and many more.

One of the most interesting festivals is Woodstock Festival. It's absolutely free, lots of alcohol, lots of gigs and over 400.000 people from all over the world every year. Currently biggest festival in Europe and which makes it even more special all money goes for charity and artists play for free.

Booked tickets for Primavera Sound in Spain. Interested in doing Hove Festival in Norway depending on the lineup. If not, I'll do Graspop again, possibly catch a day or two at Rock Werchter a week later. That's all for now!

cannot bloody wait for Primavera to be honest. anyone hear anything about a Don't Look Back show by any band at this years ATP stage? they still have not officially announced who is playing the ATP stage (although most of them i think have been announced in the general line up). Dirty Three playing Ocean Songs would be incredible as they are also performing Ocean Songs at ATP New York

Show them some lineups that may interest them, slap them in the face(literally or virtually*), then tell tehm they're going.

*to virtually 'slap' someone, just be talking to them over phone/internet, and tell them they're going. Its how I got my mates to go to Werchter in 07:D

Yeah as Mushy said show them some line-ups and some of the various countries. I can guarantee you will have a better time than staying here for rip-off and scumbag central at most of the Irish festivals.

I think the great thing about euro festivals is you are on the mainland and it's pretty cheap to visit another bordering country after the festival - you can get a nice week or so away if you plan it! We're visiting Berlin after Rock Werchter this year, have done Amsterdam and Paris in previous years. Plus and it's a big plus....the booze is waaay cheaper! :D Enjoy!
