McDonalds pay €9.15 an hour on starting scale. I'd flip burgers for that if I didn't have something else.

Theres a McDonalds being built in Ennis, they had a sign up for recuriting people and in the space of a few days they had over 500 applicants. Lots of them were accountants, bankers etc...

i pity the dude behind the counter, the women where prob students,or loud mouthed slags the usual ****e,although its great to see irish back in them places again, alot of snobbiery took place during the boom, people complaining about outsiders doing the job,but not one of them would take a job in them places, now since we are deseperate for work, the tables have turned

I worked there one summer during college (2002). The pay was crap - minimum wage minus 70c for your lunch. This was deducted even if you didn't eat there!
    Managers could be right knobs.
The customers were the worst - very demanding and aggressive. Once they see that uniform they treat you like scum.

knew someone else who worked there, told me you would had to clock in and out when you went to the toilet!

    Worked there many years ago.

    Worst job I ever had.

I'd try sellin me arse in the phoenix park before I'd go back there if I hit tough times.

They totally indoctrinate their managers and senior burger flippers. They keep yelling stupid slogans around the place.

Anyone who's worked there will still feel their rage levels rising when they think of the phrases "A time to lean is a time to clean", and "A time to relax is a time to ajax".

Muppets. And we weren't even allowed a full meal for our lunchbreak. Our "meal allowance was like 3 pounds 30p, and a big mac meal costed 3.50 or something, and you weren't allowed top it up with the 20p yourself.

I think I'd feel less weird working for the scientologists :P

Sounds like training in a Degree in Prickdom, from what I've read above.

God, if I'd have to work there, I'd have to exercise my Licence To Kill.

I never talk about that though..........

Wow really? That's more than the Dunnes minimum wage. Nice indeed.

I've got a wife and 2 kids - if I lost my job tomorrow I'd have no problem with it.

Surely if you sold the kids that'd keep yourself and the missus fairly comfy until the recession blew over?

I spoke to the new Franchisee in McDonalds in Ennis recently and asked him about the job applicants he had. He laughed at the idea and said the media had taken one comment about a high number of applicants and ran with it. He said that Trainee accountants/architects, post grads etc were applying not actually 50 year old men and women who lost their jobs in the Industry and that 500 was blown out of proportion.

I personally welcome the idea of being able to order my meal in fast food places in one sentence rather than repeating myself 5 times and then hoping that the end result was the meal I orginally wanted going in there.

BUT, Who would you prefer, Johnny foreigner serving you happy to have a job on a much better wage than at home or Paddy McGrouch moaning about his job because his friends keep buzzing his apt asking for happy meals and then spitting in your food because you happen to be wearing the shirt he wants but cannot afford to buy on his wages.

It would be fun to link in that McDonalds ad from a year or more ago..

You know that one "do you want a career with that?" and the slagging the guy got for working in Mcds at every meeting with his mates!!

    Cant find it on youtube!

    How times change

Was out the other night and stopped off on the way home and a couple of girls in the line in front of me where taking the piss out of some fella (sounded like he was Dublin 4 roight) behind the counter. ?

I worked in McDs in college, and got this all the time. Usually from student types who should have known better.

I hope the girls enjoyed the gratis saliva and snot condiments they no doubt certainly received with their food.

Don't think i'd be up to it myself, managers in there don't seem like the kinda people you'd be motivated to work for never mind the abuse off customers.
Oh and i heard the only reason they put gherkins on their burgers is because without them the percentage of sugar is so high that the burger would have to be classed as a desert or someyhing like that.

Have to laugh at the people saying they would work there tomorrow if they lost there jobs.

Do u think ur gonna walk into a managment job?

No. You will be getting bossed around by some student almost half your age and cleaning the jax.

Have you ever seen the state of the Jax in a popular city center fast food place?

Id rather sell a kidney than work in the place.

Ive no problem working but id rather smash rocks for minium wage.

McDonalds actually has a Bachelors of Hamburgerology that you receive when you attend their own University (which I believe is in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois)
