Irish in McDonalds

Anyone notice the amount of Irish working in McDonalds recently compared to a few years back. Have to say from a personal standpoint i think it's bloody great. Was out the other night and stopped off on the way home and a couple of girls in the line in front of me where taking the piss out of some fella (sounded like he was Dublin 4 roight) behind the counter. Jesus i nearly felt sorry for the lad as they where making his life hell. Anyone know what these poor feckers get paid? Can't be much more than the dole me thinks. Question is if you had no choice would you do it?

If I was looking for a job I'd take it no problem. The minimum wage is good enough, even now.

Depends... how hot were the women?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

They're a decent employer in Ireland.
There are far, far worse places to work for that wage.

you don't have to flip burgers, you could work on the tills, do some cleaning, maybe manage the place...

You don't know the value of a euro until you have worked in one of these places.
Good honest work never killed anyone.

I had a job in McDonalds over 20 years ago, the best bit about it was the free food :D

I applied there and got nothing.
Aparently I'm in competition with people with degrees in catering etc.
My brother worked there a while back and reckons theres nothing like the **** the workers put up with from customers and managers

I wouldn't mind working there, but I don't know if I could take the abuse. They'd be getting a dose of McJonty sauce on their burgers whether they liked it or not

I've got a wife and 2 kids - if I lost my job tomorrow I'd have no problem with it.

its a wage for a weeks work, would u rather beg than that? No wonder the foreigners had the jobs!!!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,674 ✭✭✭Teutorix

McDonalds allways pay just above minimum wage

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 349 ✭✭li@mo

Why oh why do the but gherkins in their burgers?

I think Ireland is changing rapidly.

5 years ago if you were on the dole you were a waster.
If you worked in McDonalds you were foreign
If you were a bank executive you were plotting the greatest downfall of a nations economy in history bar Iceland.

Now its becoming more acceptable and rightly so.

Well, I left college in '89.

The Boat Train was your only option then.
Did all kinds of dangerous/sh1tty jobs that nobody else wanted to do,

I'm 40 now, married, mortgaed, kids etc . & still (luckily) working.

I spose you could be doing worse things. Though, I know, I couldn't hack it.
    NO WAY!

I'd easily prefer to work in a coalmine in Bosnia.

    But that's just me;)

McDonalds pay €9.15 an hour on starting scale. I'd flip burgers for that if I didn't have something else.

Theres a McDonalds being built in Ennis, they had a sign up for recuriting people and in the space of a few days they had over 500 applicants. Lots of them were accountants, bankers etc...

i pity the dude behind the counter, the women where prob students,or loud mouthed slags the usual ****e,although its great to see irish back in them places again, alot of snobbiery took place during the boom, people complaining about outsiders doing the job,but not one of them would take a job in them places, now since we are deseperate for work, the tables have turned

I worked there one summer during college (2002). The pay was crap - minimum wage minus 70c for your lunch. This was deducted even if you didn't eat there!
    Managers could be right knobs.
The customers were the worst - very demanding and aggressive. Once they see that uniform they treat you like scum.

knew someone else who worked there, told me you would had to clock in and out when you went to the toilet!

    Worked there many years ago.

    Worst job I ever had.

I'd try sellin me arse in the phoenix park before I'd go back there if I hit tough times.

They totally indoctrinate their managers and senior burger flippers. They keep yelling stupid slogans around the place.

Anyone who's worked there will still feel their rage levels rising when they think of the phrases "A time to lean is a time to clean", and "A time to relax is a time to ajax".

Muppets. And we weren't even allowed a full meal for our lunchbreak. Our "meal allowance was like 3 pounds 30p, and a big mac meal costed 3.50 or something, and you weren't allowed top it up with the 20p yourself.

I think I'd feel less weird working for the scientologists :P

Sounds like training in a Degree in Prickdom, from what I've read above.

God, if I'd have to work there, I'd have to exercise my Licence To Kill.

I never talk about that though..........
