    It's a budget airline.

If you buy a Tesco Value product do you return it if it mildly disappoints you? No, because shouldn't expect it to be of a high quality.

A Tesco Value product is relativity cheap. They don't add a €70 tax/fee on their potato gratin when you're paying for it at the checkout.

I wouldn't go so far as saying I've any particular hatred for them, on the outside they're just a flying bus company (a cranky, unreliable one). The food you can buy on board is actually fairly ok (had a nice breakfast thingy a short while ago) and the new line of tea tastes nice.

Hearing things like this though shows them up for what they really are - a customer-bashing monster of a company with no moral centre.

    I disagree.
tbh, as far as I can recall, I've been delayed by them less than any other airline. Never had baggage lost, which has happened on other airlines.

The only issue I'd have is the crappy seats and crappy music when you land. Big deal.
Other than that, they are fantastic. I've been places I never would have before, only coz the flights costs next to nothing.

Obviously, some routes/flights have different taxes. The €70 tax I was talking about was on my Dublin-Oslo flight last year. That didn't even get me a "hello" when I stepped on board.

First time and last time flying with Ryanair. :)

Lol. Well, it's included in the ticket price with Aer Lingus and Aer Arann! :pac:

General public: Airlines in Ireland are a rip off... We need a budget airline, ramble ramble.

Michael O'Leary: Right, I see a niche, I am going to offer the Irish population what they want.

General Public: I cannot believe they are charging us for all this extra stuff... This airline isn't comfortable, we have to pay for all these extras... ramble ramble ramble...

What people really want is everything for nothing. I am more than happy to pay for the cheap flights and if needs be pay for any extras, at least ryanair give me that option. How long are you on the flight exactly? Not very long... just shhh!!! and take what you pay for...

Well if you want to pay more for some woman to say hello to you when you step onto the plane then that's up to you. I'll continue to pay less to fly on planes where the staff don't give a **** about me. I couldn't care less....just stick on my iPod and bring a book and the Ryanair staff can do what they want.

Anyway, I love Michael O Leary and I love Ryanair. I'm glad to see a sensible topic about them. I'd be more than happy to see Michael O Leary become a minister. He'd sort out any government department in no time and put all the gob****es in the government in their place.

Also, is there anywhere to see the full press conference by any chance?

But then the flight is not cheap anymore with the all the extras.

You'll probably spend more than €20 getting to the airport. Absolute bargain. Ryanair cut out the crap other airlines offer as standard to make the flights cheaper. I have no problems with that unless I need some of that then I'll gladly pay the ryanair charge for it or use another airline. Whichever is cheaper.

You are not obliged to pay for the extras. Therefore, for a lot of people they would be cheaper...

I love O'Leary for his casual appearance. Same with that guy from Virgin. Dress how they feal... a real peoples person I would think...

I am getting a ryanair flight in about 7 hours. I hope I don't change my opinion of the airline :)

I have been left stranded by ryanair, have had problems in the past with cancellations, but paying what I pay, I already expect that from them, you know?

Michael O'Leary is a feckin legend and Ryanair is absolutely fantastic.

Typical of Irish people to moan about someone offering them a cheaper alternative during a recession (yes I said the 'r' word).

Good for you that you have money to waste in these times. Is the tax then Ryanair's fault ? No. It's going to nanny state Norwegians in your case, so don't blame M O'L.

Ryanair jobs are the closest to slave labour as it gets so its unlikely he works for ryanair.
"Slave" implies they're working their against their will. They all applied and accepted the jobs themselves.

And contrary to popular perception because Ryanair is so much more efficient than other airlines, their staff earn a packet more.

Very true, for some people they will be cheaper for others they will be more expensive. As i've said before people need to take all costs into account including transport costs when you get to your destination to determine if Ryanair are the cheap option for you.

    I love that man!

But seriously, why not just fly aerlingus I mean they are now just as cheap and are more generous with there space and luggage, in fact the flight I booked recently was considerably cheaper than Ryanair, not to mention if I had booked two weeks earlier it would have been cheaper again.

Although to be honest never had any problems with Ryanair, as long as you a rocking a mp3/4 and a book your sorted :D

i guess it's just the Irish mentality to whinge and moan unless everything isn't handed to them for free on a silver platter. rediculous. oh... and what's wrong with the "R" word? there's no use burying your head in the sand.:o

i have been on ryanair flights with people like denis irwin, kevin moran and John Toshack (same flight back from manchester) and with ken doherty to malta, ryanair is good enough for those guys, yet ryanair isn't good enough for some of the ordinary people of ireland

this recession is going to hit some people very hard me thinks

    That's a bit of a harsh assessment.

I'd just like to point out that I'm not your typical dumbass 20 year old student, I'm a bit older and a lot wiser than the norm.

In fact I'd be fairly confident that I'm far more intelligent and far more multi-skilled than you ever will be (don't worry, I feel that way when I compare myself to most people)

And as for this being a stupid thread, well I think the fact that my Thanks to Posts ratio has just gone through the roof speaks for itself.

Whats the name of their last cd

How to dismantle a tax form ? (no sorry an atomic bomb or something like that)

I also think the man's a legend and he only ever seems to speak logical sense.

Imagine if he bought the main road from Galway to Limerick. They'd be a six lane toll road there by the summer with no speed limit. Let the man buy and privatize the country.

I loved the man's comment on Ryanair not helping a woman in a wheelchair get from the terminal to the airport - you don't expect the bus driver to stop, get out of the bus and wheel the passenger into the shopping centre.

For the poster who doesn't like his methods (What ever about not liking him), what part of outstanding businessman don't you like?

PS: And for luggage, unless you're moving to another country to live, you don't need a suitcase!

Yeah. Much more interesting than moaning or **** over an airline.

about as interesting as moaning and **** over other people moaning and **** over an airline
