Wow guys,,,,,,it's been a couple of days since I got to log on but it definitely looks like my positive post has spread and created a thread of loosers this week :D Yeeeeaaaahhhhhh

I also managed to loose 2 pounds this week, I was absolutely delighted. I know I can really get back on track and loose the rest. The changes I made this week was to get back exercising....2 walks and 1 aqua aerobics and then I also tracked and most importantly was very honest about the points I was eating.

Jwacqui,,,,,,I agree we definitely need to go every meeting,,,,good bad or ugly, its the only way to have a fresh start rather than delaying it another week. I've been going every week for 10 months but have only maintained over the last 3 months but Ive still gone every week and I really think thats the reason Ive not gone back up and up every week.

Well done everyone what a great news story it has been this week :D Big pat on the back for everyone

I bought the At Home pack in January and I've read it! But that's about all. I've started so many times but only last a day or two. I just can't get myself motivated and eat myself through the day, even when I'm not hungry!! I've joined WW a few times in the past but usually stop after a couple of weeks and I usually didn't stay for the class. I'm thinking now I might try joining a class and together with this thread I might find the encouragement I need!!! Do most people just get weighed and leave or do you think staying for the meetings make a difference?

I had 2.5lb off this week, one more to go for my first half a stone, please god I'll get it this week :)

    Hi October
I think you really need to be ready for ww before you start, you need to be ready for the commitment that it takes because lets be honest it is not easy whether it is 1 stone or 10 stone you have to loose. Maybe you should make a decision to join on a week when you have the time to concentrate on it for the week and if you can get on a roll after the first month it will come easier the further you get into it.
I think that it if you are ready to commit you should be ready to really follow what ww recommends,,,,they recommend you get weighed in and stay to the meeting, they recommend you track your points and drink water as well as introducing exercise 30 min 3-4 times a week. It sounds simple and it is really but you need to be ready for it which is the most important thing.
Good luck with whatever you decide but dont beat yourself up about the weeks you dont do it. Life is too short :D

Hi all and thanks for ALL your posts .. they really keep me going although I don't post every week. I am cheering you all along from the sidelines.

My problem was that I had stagnated at 3 stone lost for over 4 months and reading recently this seems to be affecting lots of the long termers I thought I would let you know what got me going again.

I think is was ladiee24 who told me that you can get bored and complacent with the same food all the time so I now vary my diet every week. It has got me back to feeling like I'm not really dieting again as every week I have something different. I think this is the trick to WW. You are not on a diet you are changing your life style.

Sar84 I hear what you are saying about the exercise, but I promise you if you can find the time it will pay huge dividends not just the weight loss but how you feel too.

I have a friend who is doing this with me and she has started getting off the bus a stop earlier and walking the extra distance as she has 2 babies at home and has no time either for exercise, other than running around after them;) Can you do this in your busy schedule, perhaps on the way home from work as I know mornings are rotten? If you are anything like me, you will hate to go out to exercise once you get in from work so if you can do it on your way there or back it might help with the motivation.

Since posting my first time in January I have lost 4bs. Not a huge amount but I'm now 4lbs away to my end goal:)

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all of you and sending lots of positive vibes to the lifers like me!!

    Be good xxx

Hi All, well (unfortunately!) I am still struggling - just can't seem to get into it at the moment:( But, I am not giving up! I am going to stick with it & even if I remain the same for the next few weeks I know that eventually something will click & I will be back with a vengence!

Hi October - just to let you know that, unless there is a real reason not to, I always stay to my class. I really do think it helps & I guess there must be a reason why they say that those who stay to class lose more than those that don't.
I agree with 1lbAtaTime - you really do have to be in the right frame of mind to stick with WW & only you will know if you're there or not. I am struggling the past couple of weeks but I think the fact that I started with such determination & I don't want to go back to how I was before will help me through. Good Luck, keep us up-dated here - this thread can be very motivational!

Good Luck to everyone this week - keep the positivity up!:) (It helps those of us that are struggling when we need it most!)

Thanks for the replies. Over the weekend I read 2-3 WW magazines I had bought but never really read properly and I've also been reading over this thread so I've decided to join WW on Wednesday. I'm off work for a few weeks recovering from surgery so there really is no excuse why I shouldn't do it now with all the free time I have! I was ok yesterday but did go over the points by about 4! Will try better today!

    Hi all,
Good luck to all who have weigh in's this week! I have mine tomorrow and I am so determined to get that 3rd silver 7!! Just wondering what everybody thinks is key to a good week?
I never know whether it is best to stick to my points and eat them all or to save the 4 on as many days as i can.
Just some tips would be a help and general opinions.

    Thanks!! ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 59 ✭✭1lbAtaTime

    Hi All
Well I've had an good week so far :D On Saturday night there was a little naughtiness but I knew it was coming so didn't end up going too much over my points and have been on track since.

LorDar: I was stuck in a rut for a while but I kept going to my weigh ins so managed to maintain, 2 weeks ago it clicked again with me and now I really feel I am back on track so hang in there until it comes right again and you will get rid of those last few pounds :D Remember Summer is coming and how great would you feel with those last few gone,,,,,,that's what did it for me...14 pounds in 14 weeks is the target for the 28th May.

Jwacqui: I reckon if you can eat your points in the week this works. For me I find that I usually go over one day in the weekend and then I make them up in the days before my weigh in on Thursday, so if I go 8 over at the weekend then I have 2 less than Im allowed each day so that by the end of the week I have broken even. Remember that the more weight you loose the harder it gets so if you use 4 points less per day than you are allowed then your body will get used to eating so little and you wont have anywhere to go with your points, ya know.

Good luck with the weigh ins :D Keep up the great work :p

WOW ladiee 24, that sounds like a great plan, I have a long way to go to meet my goal but I really think that one of the reasons ww works is down to the fact that the leaders have 'been there, done that' not like a dietician or someone who has been slim all their lives and just doesnt get it. Best of luck with getting to your goal. Your decision to become a leader will probably be great motivation while you get to your goal ;););)

a little suggestion if you're not doing it already bring fruit & veg "sticks" to work or have them prepared in the fridge & my very new best friend this is sugar free jelly! i always said oh i should make jelly then forgot now you won't see my fridge without good old jelly inside. best of luck for the next couple of weeks & do keep going to your meetings they will help ;)

Hey, everyone on this site is doing so good - well done. I myself had nearly two stone off, I was just about 1/2 pound away then i gained another 1/2 pound then lost it then gained a pound, then last week I had gained 3 pounds in one week, I told everyone to shame myself into actually doing well, i have my weigh in tonight so I will see how I got on, so I have been attending two years and have lost a total of one stone and 10 pounds. The leader was saying about 3 weeks ago, that one woman lost 10 stone in two years and another lost 8 stone, maybe im just not dedicated enough!!!:o

Lovinit - of course you are dedicated enough, you don't lose nearly two stone with no dedication! Concentrate on how well you have done so far and how well you will continue to do. I went back to WW last week and have to say it's great reading all these success stories!
Good luck at the weigh in tonight!

you do have dedication you might not have as much weight to loose as other people, you may have a slower metabolism there are 101 factors but the main thing is you've lost 1st 10lbs a great achievement! why don't you set yourself mini goals to get to you're finaly goal it's the best way i find to break down the big picture.

Hi all, I just said I would finally introduce myself. I have been reading your posts on and off since I started WW but never posted. I’m actually looking for a bit of advice…

I joined WW last September. While I was doing my leaving cert a few years ago I was so disciplined and I lost a lot of weight, just from not eating any treats at all. Then I started college and since then its just been eating and drinking and I piled on the weight. Last September I saw a picture of me and I knew I had to do something about it. I wasn’t huge but I was starting to look like a “big” person and it was such a shock. My best friend had joined WW over a year before that and lost nearly 6 stone so I said I would give it a shot.

When I joined I was shocked at my weight. I’m tall but my BMI had me as quite overweight. I lost 7 pounds in the first week. It was just such a shock from eating all the take aways and everything. I loved all the recipes. I was eating so much better than before but I felt like I was eating more food. So I gradually lost another stone after that. I got to 21 pounds just before xmas. I only put on 2 pounds after Xmas, then over January I was kind of up and down because of exams and stress but three weeks ago I was 3.5 pounds away from 2 stone.

I feel fantastic. Everyone is saying how amazing I look, I’m wearing tight dresses and old jeans I used to wear when I was 17. I’m a 10-12 on bottom and 8-10 on top and yet my BMI still has me as overweight. My problem is my target in weight watchers is nearly another two stone away. I go to the gym every single day and do a really good workout. I’d earn 7.5 activity points a day. I’m a student that isn’t working and to be honest can’t afford the tenner a week. My mam has to give it to me and she thinks Weight Watchers is a scam because they say I have to keep paying until I lose another 2 stone and I really don’t think I could physically do it. Everyone is telling me that muscle weighs more than fat and I am toned. My hips and bottom area are the worst for me though and I would still like to lose weight there but not 2 stone?!

Basically I’m getting really disheartened. I just started my work placement for my course and I haven’t got time to go to the gym in the mornings. Two weeks ago I went to the meeting and I was up 3.5. I knew exactly what went wrong, I just wasn’t getting away with eating as much because I was doing less exercise. I play gaelic and my training is on the same time as the meetings now. I didn’t go last week… I can feel myself slipping and I don’t know what to do. I can’t afford to go to weight watchers now but if I had a gold card I would definitely go to some meeting even just to get weighed. I didn’t go last night again. That’s 2 weeks in a row I have missed. Will I have to rejoin?

My leader is so so nice and she even said it to me one day that she wants to change my target for me but then she never did and I don’t want to go up and say it to her, I was hoping she would say it again to me.

Any advice? Anyone else in a similar position, where their target seems unattainable?

Hi all...well i went to the doctor about my leg and basically iv to see a physio.. so no gym or exercise until then!! So my overindulgence at the weekend has now crept up til today an i cant even burn off the excess!!

Headn away fri for three nites so i no il be defo goin over points for the weekend. WI is tamo and after a mad few days really am not expecting anything..Quite gutted that cant go to the gym i really am..

Hoping i can try and maintain over next few weeks even to get myself back on track!! :(

Good luck to all WI.. xx

I'm currently about 21 stone  and like 6 years ago I was 13!! Time to take action and start looking after my body. Any info on weightwatchers would be useful.

    hi siobhanoh,

well done on a super weight loss so far! there is nothing worse than the financial stresses of more recent times. you are allowed 2 holiday weeks every six months at your WW class. so if you miss more than 2 weeks you will have to "rejoin" as such the fee is never more than €20 when you rejoin. i can also understand your mum's frustrations in helping you to pay for WW & when things are tight €10 per week can affect things.

what i would recommend doing is try as hard as you can to stick to the plan as much as possible & maybe try get to a meeting once a month it would be €20 per month but it would be then €5 a week until you get back on your feet financially. really remember to track & keep up your exercise & i'm sure you'll maintain your weight.

you do seem to earn alot of bonus points with your exercise but are you banking these or eating these? if you are eating them maybe try only eat 3 of the 7.5 & bank the rest could be helpful in maintaining also.

    best of luck

WW is pretty much the same everywhere in the country except with different leaders. You may need to try a couple of classes to find a leader you gel with. When you first go to a class you'll fill out a short registration form with your personal details: name address, height, contact details. you pay your fee to your clerk it's €20 for the first week then €10 per week after that. in January WW launched a new programme called the dicover plan it's a points based system & it's full of very helpful information. the first part of your class is split into 2 parts the first 30mins is weigh in you'll pop onto the scales each week & hear how you've done you then generally take a seat & there is a talk for 30 mins where you'll pick up tips from your leader & follow wwers. each week there is a general theme to the meeting be it getting active or getting enough fibre into our daily food. hope this helps & if you need any other info please ask away!
