It finishes by saying "Leading trough technology"

Is that a deliberate mispelling? :-)

He was not actually testing the guns. He was seeing if the water trough could survive being buried in the ground, filled with water and having a crazy person shoot guns from it. It was surprisingly obvious:D

Irish police have solved the mystery of a Polish recidivist who clocked up 50 traffic offences on different addresses and who was never caught, after one officer noticed his name meant driving licence in Polish. Skip related content

An internal police memo cited by Irish papers on Thursday said officers taking details of Polish traffic offenders had been mistakenly using "Prawo Jazdy," printed in the top right corner of the driving licence, as the holder's name.

"Prawo Jazdy is actually the Polish for driving licence and not the first and surname on the licence," the police memo dated June 2007 said. "It is quite embarrassing to see the system has created Prawo Jazdy as a person with over 50 identities."

A police spokesman declined to comment on the reports.

About 200,000 Polish people flocked to Ireland during the boom years of its "Celtic Tiger" economy but a poll in November indicated a third of them planned to leave due to recession.

This is a photograph of 2009 Obama Inauguration. You can see IN FOCUS the face of EACH individual in the crowd !!!

You can scan and zoom to any section of the crowd. . . wait a few seconds. . . and the focus adjusts to give you a very identifiable close up.

The picture was taken with a robotic 1474 megapixel camera (295 times the standard 5 megapixel camera).

Every one attending could be scanned after the event, should something have gone wrong during it.

Did ya get a D80 in the end dex? shame that, im just about to upgrade to something and mine was gonna be surplus to requirements.,lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

I didn't actually, I got a D60. I wasn't in the mood for spilling an extra 300 sheckels on the D80 just so I could use auto focus on a couple of lenses that don't have SWM's. I'm happy enough to manual a macro or a prime. I did want the D80 really, but not for 800, not when I had to replace all my lenses and flashguns from my F5 because they're not DX. Expensive lark this glass buying.

I thought you had a D60 or D70 anyway. I knew you were upping but didn't know when. What are you going for? D90 or jump to the D300 (best body I've ever used, had a play with a mates one two weeks ago, ISO noise doesn't even begin until 3200, and even then it only starts hazing at 6400)? You could probably find a D200 cheap now though, since the D300 is out.

D300 is what im looking at., havent had the chance to go play with them in the shop yet though. i might head out and see what i can get on sunday.,:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

If I thought I'd get the chance to use it half as much as I'd like to, I'd have waited out and gotten the D300. Especially after playing with my mates for a few hours. Real intuitive interface and the AF system in the live view is fantastic for macro shooting. As it was I kind of settled for the D60, but I'll eventually end up getting a D80 or D90 anyway. Probably by summertime.

Something about that "Prawo Jazdy" story doesn't add up. Poles have been working in Ireland since at least the 1970's to my certain knowledge, they just didn't suddenly appear from nowhere. Also, the Polish driving license has standard numbered fields for the holder's details, just like any other european DL.

Now some of us may have had the odd ...disagreement... with the Guards from time to time, but they're not stupid. They do know how to figure out a DL, and how to cross-check someone's name from other documents. And the idea that 50 of them would make the exact same mistake stretches credulity.

It's far more likely to be a problem with PULSE. That thing is as badly designed and badly implemented as any other large-scale computer system. There were at least three too many companies involved with it, and like most public-service computer projects it was managed by people who may be good at other stuff but hadn't a clue about IT.

This story has gone around the world, it's time somebody rebutted it.

There are other possibilities, of course... ;)

I just realised something. Between this computer, my laptop, my work computer and my iPhone, I'm logged into boards almost 24 hours a day. I genuinely think I need to start going out more.

What makes it worse, is that I realised that and found the need to post it on Boards.
