Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Slightly thicker and extra lubricated

why would extra lube make it safer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,011 ✭✭✭cHaTbOx

It prevents wears and tear of the condom , but you may need more lube (water based this is important and anything like oil will reduce the strength of the latex by around 95% in 15 mins ) if you suffer from vaginal dryness and it's usually encouraged. I'll try to find where I read it in a bit .

yeah thats why vasaline is so avoided.

that and vaseline is pure petrol and so is carcinogenic i.e causes cancer so is not good in the nether regions EVER!!!!

also lube contains spermicides(well they should if they're worth anything) which basically is there to kill any sneaky lil stragglers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

No most condoms are coated in non-spermicidal lube- check the packet next time you're buying some and it'll most likely say "non spermicidal".

I doubt vaseline is carcinogenic, if it were there's no way it'd be licenced for use as a lipbalm!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,635 ✭✭✭tribulus

Vaseline isn't carcinogenic, don't eat it though! It can damage some of the compounds in the rubber, that's all.

In fact you could possibly argue that if a guy is carrying the HP virus that his penis is carcinogenic! Hehehe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

Gah how terrifying. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "cancer stick" :p

look at the label its 100% pure PETROLrum jelly any sort of oil based product is bad and can cause dermatitis in the short term (e.gdiesel, oils, burning of plastics = cancer thats why it's illegal)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

    *sigh*

Vaseline is NOT carcinogenic. The petrolatum in Vaseline has been refined and purified. The EU began banning potentially toxic ingredients in cosmetics in 1976.

You are wrong on two counts here.

Yes vaseline contains petroleum, refined petroleum with all the nasty stuff removed. Also I really doubt vaseline causes dermatitis (open to correction on this count, but carcinogen, not its not)

Lube CAN contain spermicide but does not by default, if you see "Lubricated Condom" that DOES NOT mean it has spermicide, it means there's lubricant on the condom.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,425 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

reallly doubt vasline can cause dermatitis.in that case my whole year would have it!

Ginja Ninja, have you never heard of the petrochemical industry? There are plenty of compounds found in crude oil which when refined have a heap of non-toxic uses!

Im 100% sure he's right, I mean it all makes sense, all plastics are made from petrol, so all plastics cause cancer, GAWH Silly Fad.......................

apparently but its better then nothing and the young persons clinic is only 3 hours so it wouldnt be that long a wait if you get there in time to get a spot.

The condom video is weird, I was thinking, couldnt she just do it?

Have never had one, don't think I need one (which basically equates to me saying I haven't slept around or a had any one-nighters) but would not be too embarrassed to seek help/information if I did think it was important.
