yeah that stuff aint old. old is pidgeon street, button moon, the clangers and one of my favourites Rainbow!!

thats old. i only remember them from the re runs. carlty you, mgh and a couple others should remember them from the first time:P

Lol some of those things are from the 90's but you'd mostly be remembering those as only young'n. The trouble is that I was a kid in the 80's AND the 90's so my childhood is a mixture of both.

Pigeon street and Button Moon yes... Mr Ben also! Quality....

Just so you know Carlty is actually younger than me! :P (albeit by about 8 months) though you wouldn't have thought judging by how he runs!! Almost bought him a zimmerframe today :D

Congratulations on getting the call and welcome to the March intake. :D

Do you mind me asking what your merit number was (don't post the exact number)?

A wee tip, read the start of the "Starting Garnerville Soon" thread. There's loads of great advice in there.

The Student Registration Night (SRN) has been replaced by an all day event which we assumed would be called the Student Registration Day (SRD). Turns out that it's actually referred to as the Student Induction Day (SID). There's a little more to it now apparently and it's considered an essential part of the course.

God I leave the board for a day and look at what you are all talking about

Care bears and my little pony were the best, no contest.:p

what was the name of those bears that used take that magic juice and bounce all over the place? No wonder we all grow so fond of drink - chasing the dream! and i heard somewhere that Roger Ramjet was an advert for some sort of trip biscuit?? But i agree that times were much better back then. you could go out on your Chopper with your mates and cycle as fast as you could, hit a stick, go flying over the handle bars and get up with a mashed face but it was the funniest thing ever. and did anyone else cycle over the large cans of pepsi and get them stuck in the wheel and all cycle around like triple hard bikers? Those really were the good old days. sigh.

gummi bears. i used to go out the back of my house and get all the blackberrys and raspberrys and crushthem down ad pretend the juice was gummi bear juice. i could never jump any higher tho. must have used the wrong proportions!!

My daughter plays with My Little Pony! They're still crap!!! :P

When I found out my wife was expecting, I went out and bought the first couple of seasons of the Transformers cartoon on dvd. It was for the child. Honest (I had it in my mind that it'd be a boy). I wanted him/her to grow up on the same material as I did. Turns out that my daughter loves Transformers, Star Wars etc as much as any boy! Yay! :D

It certainly was/is. I get really angry now because kids TV is no longer about kids being kids and enjoying play and having a magical childhood... it's about how many feckin morals and lessons can we squeeze into a couple hours of kids TV... if they're not learning something then there's no point watching it... that's bullsh*t if you ask me... parents can (SHOULD) teach kids stuff and so can (SHOULD) schools.

And I don't buy the, yeah but not all do teach kids argument. Putting morals into kids stuff is putting a sticking plaster of the real problem... they should be sorting out the bad parenting and poor schooling imo and let kids enjoy being kids while they can!

Anyway, that's my ex teacher rant over sorry :D

Oooooooooookay. Was that something you feel strongly about by any chance? :P

Don't forget our cartoons were choc full of morals too. Remember He-Man's little epilogues?

    Congrats again.

That is very odd though, I ~600 RC, cleared vetting months ago, got my medical pass letter at the start of January yet still no call. Hmmm.

Yeah didn't you say they told you there was no places left for March? I would be on the phone politely asking how people with merit numbers worse than yours have got phonecalls and if there's anything wrong or they need more information from you...

I done that twice already and they basicly bit my head off. They told me both times that I am all clear and there is nothing to hold me up. So I really can't risk calling back =/

But no explanation as to why only yesterday someone with a merit number significantly worse and background same as yours got a call for March?

I'd be threatening letters to the policing board soon mate... maybe wait for April and if you still haven't heard then that'd be the time to take some action imo
