    How's the shopping coming along?

I've got shoe polish, ironing cloths and selvyt cloths so far. Still a fair bit to go! :(

What sort of clothes are we to bring for our free time at Garnerville? I might just go (very) casual with jeans or something.

I am pretty much done with my shopping list, just need to find a plain black belt, it is harder than you would think for us girls.

Yeah just going to keep it casual, jeans and comfy clothes.

i just have to get wooden hangers.. im surprised myself at how organised I've been :) ebays great! Will be going casual too in the evenings, I need to get a suit for the SID, i only have skirt suits and dont want to be there with the legs out and all others in trousers. Any girls wearing skirts? :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 263 ✭✭PC Inwaiting

Def not wearing a skirt, I can just imagine some kind of ladder in tights situation. You don't want to get the twins over excited at this stage:D

I got a really nice suit from M&S or next is always good for that sort of thing.

I'll just save it for the weekend. :D

..and remember if you are going with flats the trousers may be too long, I am getting mine turned up.

You don't want to be dragging your trousers all over town.

What are we gonna spend our evenings doing? There will be a lot of studying, but surely it won't all be work and no play. The only thing around the area of Garnerville is an all-night tescos!

****, just realised I actually have to make friends first before considering what we're gonna do. This could be tricky as generally, I'm not very likeable. :P

Howdy everyone. I didnt realise it is only 3 weeks till SID! I havent done any shopping but i've gotten a whole heap of great intentions. Can anyone answer a couple of questions for me please? I'm going to be moving up from the South to attend college, I've sold my car last night and will buy a cheap car and re-reg it up north. Who should i check out for Insurance? I've full 6+ years no claims bonus and would hate to have to lose all that! Also is it wrong to go away on a holiday for a week between SID and the 8th March? My girlfriend is going home to her family anyway at that time and i was thinking of joining her seeing as how we've had to cancel our holiday for July. I presume i'm the only southerner out of the boardies for March intake??? Won't make it too hard to figure out who i am then will it?

There is no problem taking a holiday before you start but you need to bare in mind, that we will be given a lot of stuff to learn so you don't want to be left behind.

As for the car insurance, I am not sure about transfering your bonus over, it should not be a problem as long as you can get proof. There are plently of price cpmparison sites out there. Find your cheapest quote then check if they will accept your bonus.

    Hope that is useful:)

anyone else getting more nervous as it gets closer? My mum is still not happy at me leaving my poor husband for 4 weeks :p I think she's worried he'll be sowing his oats round the town given half the chance  :D she's so old school (but i ♥ her all the same)

Your mum should be more worried about you. My cousin lost her husband to another woman in his squad. Was 2 years before she found out what was going on. They started their affair the first day of training.

They must put something in the water, or he was just a scumbag

Good luck however gets that bunk to sleep in lol:P

I'd definately go for the latter. If someone is genuinely faithful to their spouse/partner, then they'll remain faithful at Garnerville.

And don't anyone go giving me that "I can't help who I fall in love with" crap! I don't buy that.

I totally agree with you young man. Good to see we have decent men in our squad.

God help him if I get stationed with him, I am going to give him a piece of my mind!!!

A bit early calling anyone decent though. You haven't met DownMTber in person yet! :D

True, I have a really strange imagine of what he looks like in my head, mostly like on of the guys from men behaving badly. With a can of Beer permanently attached to this hand and a feg hanging out of his mouth.

Nah, she needn't be worried, only my lovely hubby for me. No one else could put up with me anyway  First day of training??! my god, they didnt waste much time, sleazeball indeed.

The word you were looking for is 'Belter'. :D

I had to look up the word 'belter' on google:

An insulting term closely related to idiot or moron. Often used in phrashes (sic.) such as : "Neck up, ya belter!"

So yeah that works just as well too :D

    lol just kidding! ;)

    Statler and Waldorf! LMAO

It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights

You think we might be the Daddies of the group? Oh dear god i feel old :(

    Courtesy of Wikipedia:

    Noun

    belter (plural belters)
    1. (UK, informal) Anything that is particularly good of its class
    2. (UK, informal) A very good-looking person
    That's me that is. :D

If any of the police officers I've seen out on the streets are anything to go by, then yes, I'm afraid so. :(

Not true mate. PandaPants/PC Inwaiting/Squirrel81 and I didn't intend to get passionatley involved! It just happened! Our hearts ruled our heads. I'll let you visit my Garnerville Harem... for a price.

I'll be the one at the SID with a pink suit and a feather in my hat. :D

Seriously though, how can I possible admit that I'm MrFug now? I think I'll keep it on the QT.

so statler and waldorf, I wouldnt have a clue who they were, except i just googled it and know them as the old blokes in the muppets (or marley and marley for fans of the muppet christmas carol). You guys really are gettin on ain't ya?

Also, Im not that bad, I'll have you know my husband is a very happy man and he's stuck me for 7 years so I can't be all that bad really I suppose.

Actually, thought just came to me that he's even more happy of late, and probably due to the fact that he's gettin rid of me for 4 weeks :(

    ;)

thanks for clearing that one up, did not have a clue what those two old boys were going on about.

You don't know Statler and Waldorf?

Next you'll be telling me that you haven't seen Star Wars or The Never-Ending Story.

I have the feeling that you might get your three-on-one action with the afore-mention ladies, but it may involve cs spray and a taser. :P
