You are such a show off Squirrel:)

Don't worry Olga-bait. Helga-bait is just practising her sarcasm. :D:D:p

If Helga (or Olga) were behind me, I might actually be able to run the 5k in under 20 minutes. :D

I'm probably not the best person to be advising on matters of the heart. :D These things have a way of sorting themselves out, do they not?

This is ridiculous. I seriously think I will have the dubious honor of being the most unfit going into GV. Went to the gym today, what I discovered was worrying.

Set the treadmill to 3 miles (as the "target" apparently for starting is 3 miles without stopping). I managed 0.70 miles @ 5mph before whacking the big red stop button. I have little over a month to improve this. Just hope its enough time.

I don't feel quite so bad now. Thanks for cheering me up pal. :D

We don't have to run the 5k until week 5 of our training, so we've got about two months to improve. :)

This link will get you to 5k in 8 weeks very easily. If you are impatient you can start at week three. IT WORKS. If you are not used to running, dont kill yourselves by going out and running 2-3 miles in one go. You will get pissed off, not enjoy it and possibly get injured.

    Waddle on!!!

Make sure you run up plenty of hills in advance of tackling the trail in GV . I saw it today and made me sweat just looking at it. Mind you, that could also have been due to the fact that I'd just seen my good mate Mr.Anderson all uniformed up. Rocking the High Viz Jacket he was!!! :p

that looks like a good idea, I really hate running I could do 6k in about 35 mins a few years ago but have got a little out of shape. I will have trouble squeezing a smoke in to the walk bits but I'll give it a go!

Think I have got more work to do, ran in the gym for 35 mins and only got to 2.5 miles. At least it is a start I suppose and I am still alive to tell the tale.

Join us on our runs... see the first few runs and gym visits... they hurt :(

But i've done a few now and spend currently 50 mins on either xtrainer or treadmill and its not so bad now. Once your body gets over the initial shock you'll be suprised how quickly you progress at first.

I think above advice is good on the whole, take it slow at first and don't be disheartened if your performance is not what you hoped initially :)
