And you don't need an excuse... When the boss says "where were you on Friday?" simply reply with "Where were you on friday?" and walk off, tapping your nose with your index finger. He'll get confused and leave you alone.

Just be honest and tell your boss you couldn't be arsed going in to work. He/she may admire your honesty. If they don't just make a complaint to HR that your boss sexually harrassed you. Problem solved.

It's definitely got to be the old "I sent [insert appropriate person here] an email over a month ago booking that day off. Did they not get it?" Blame IT for the problem. If it's brought to IT's attention they won't give a sh*t so it won't go any further. Job done.
