I would never have voted for them anyway (only been able to vote in one general election so far, and I didn't vote for them then)

I'm going to abstain. The policital parties in this country are a fcuking disgrace. We're an international laughing stock and i'm embarrassed to be represented by any of the muppets.

If I had the power I would put them in prison, so no, I wont be voting for them LOL

    I'm going to abstain...

There in lies part of the problem that allows the cowboys to get back in.

If there is no one that you like in the main parties either side of the political fence, there is usually a local pseron in your voting area that is trying to highlight a closing of hospital/service/local issue that is putting themselves up to gain some attention.

Why not place your vote for them instead?
Please don't waste your vote. Others have actually died so that you can have one. Don't let their deaths go to waste. Its lazy and disrespectful.

I'm not being facetious (and it does sound slightly Monty Python-esque), but it is my right to either abstain, spoil my vote or actually extend my rights of franchaisement (think i just invented a new word there:D). People died so that i'd have this choice.

I'm not being disrespectful but it's just reflecting my current disillusionment with the current state of political affairs within our nation. I, more than likely, will vote the next time, but i despair at the load of twaddle that will be put into government.

I don't disagree with you there. There is feck all to replace the shower of **** we have governing us already.
My next vote is going towards those that are serving the community in a volunteer non-paid capacity.
I'd suggest others do like-wise at least.

Fine Gael is the same as Fianna Fail, they only split because of the Anglo-Irish Treaty 90 years ago. On everything else, they are pretty much the same.

So it's down to personnel. I much prefer Fianna Fail members over Fine Gael's awful selection headed of course by the inept Enda Kenny.

    Ehhhhh...NOPE!!

Shower of a**holes, i'd rather see a less moronic bunch in government,

Well, you see, that's actually a large part of the problem. Fianna Fáil are extremely good at local politics. I heard a caller to a radio show last year talking about how she loved Bertie Ahern because he'd managed to get her a passport after she'd left it too late to apply.

It's favours for votes, tbh. Politicians in this country don't need to worry about big issues as long as they can take care of minute ones for their constituents.

I'm so sick of stupid people. Even if a party had offered a logical solution in the last GE to help to avoid the huge fu(king pothole we're currently lodged in, unless the other parties were offering something similar nobody would have voted for them.

At the moment Irish politics is like a glossy magazine - it's all about who has the best free sh!t and how hot the cover girl (or boy) is. We, as a nation, are buying into the bullsh!t and getting screwed over in the process. I blame stupid people for that.

I also believe that everyone who has a vote should make their vote count and speak for them. There really should be some effective way of saying none of the above, rather than just spoiling the vote and having people wonder whether it was accidental or not.

They are disabled in After Hours to stop the place becoming lolcat central. Also the quality of debate in AH is usually so high that illustrations are unnecessary.

In most rural constituencies, FF could put a donkey up for election and it would get in ahead of Barack Obama running for Labour. And I'm from down "the country" before you ask.

Yep seemingly regardless of what they do they will get back into power.Haven't voted for F.F. and don't intend to start.

It was a FF Councillor who said the imortal words. ..." but who will feed the Gondolas."
I forget which county it was, but someone proposed putting some Gondolas on a local river to celebrate the world cup being in Rome Italy in 1990 and that was the question posed by one of their FF Donkeys.:D

They accidently stumbled into the boom, made their cronies rich and are now clueless as what to do about getting out of the mess. The world's recession is not FF's fault, but this country's mess certainly is.
Also, Enda dosen't spend a fraction om make up like Bertie did / does, and he dosen't use tax payers money to pay for it , unlike dame Bertie
As for the HSE rant........... WTF?

Your thought-provoking and well-reasoned post has convinced me, and I will therefore be voting Fianna Fail in the next election.

(Also, who the hell are Fianna Gail?)

This type of quote always reminds me of Animal Farm and the way the animals are manipulated to shriek at the mention of Snowballs because the powers that be in the book have demonised him for no reason but that he opposed them......

There were enough Irish people stupid enough to buy multiple properties on unsustainable mortgages with unsustainable rental income. Sadly, enough of them to vote FF back in.
