    wat

Which chemistry experiment have you done btw? Trying to write up C2 atm and I'd love to see if anyone's got numbers for the rates close to what I got. I had to round 1.6 up to 2 to find one of the orders, so that's probably not right anyways...

Haven't done any. I've done all the Physics Exp's, and Civ 1 - Model Bridge and Civ 2 Stress & Strain.

    I'll never go near one

Don't knock the Wankel till you see about 700bhp from a theoretical 1.4 litres!

Nice bridge Baza, but I still maintain that being one of the first groups to do the experiment we were at serious disadvantage. We managed 20N and 1.15N/€ with no previous exposure to truss design.

I may have mentioned this before but Wileyplus drives me nuts. Is it just me or has the site been down all weekend?

i missed my chemistry lab last week. I had M1 the week before and assumed we had M2 the next week, as with the Civil experiments. So i show up to the labs in Parsons and nobody's there. :( and by the time i figure out where i'm supposed to be and get there im alrady 25 mins late.

Long story short i have to do two chemistry labs this week and write both of them up for friday i think. :(
i didn't do chemistry for the Leaving so i'm so screeeeeeewed. :P

Were you supposed to do c2? Dammit I'm trying to write it up now, it's just mental. I did do chemistry for the leaving, but I might as well not have in terms of this lab. Do you know where we're supposed to leave these things on mondays? This one is due tomorrow, but I dunno where.

Oh, we didn't design it from any knowledge cleaned from Mech lectures. Demonstrator told us to do a toblerone truss, so we did.

    Wiley's a POS..

Empathise HARD on the CH2 front.

Pretty bad isn't it? I handed mine in today about half-done. And there were a few hours put into it too. Alls I know is the rate is 2.5x10^-4 / dt, dt being whatever time you recorded for that particular solution and the rate constant k = [concentration of S2O8]^alpha X [concentration of I]^beta / rate
alpha = order of reaction with respect to S208
beta = order of reaction with respect to I
I think I got alpha = 1 and beta = 1 but that's probably wrong. It "explains" that in the chemistry book anyways. All my rate constants were x10^-3, I think the avg. (there's a bit where they ask for the avg. of three) was 4.12x10^-3 . My E act was about 40 kJ M^-1 I think. All I can say about that exp. is that it makes you look forward to a chemistry-free second year. Also, the management accept no liability for incorrect equations I may or may not have remembered correctly.

Its fantastic... it does pop up a bit here and there.. as do most subjects tho..
Particularly English and Latin in Analogue 2E6 :P

    Not quite.

Material science, thermodynamics and environmental engineering... ;)

    The 13b-REW?

Couldn't tell you tbh. Twas a drag spec RX-7 I saw it at the JAE in england a couple of years back. It was matte black, with plenty of stickers and the mechanics of the project were pretty simple. Namely a turbo the size of your head and plenty of room in the engine bay (three rotors only) to run a bunch of hefty intercooling pipes all over the shop.

Wiley is a POS, I checked it out today and it works in college but not at home. Anyone have any thoughts? I've cleared all cookies etc but that's all I could think of.

If you have a Dr Quinn for your analogue part youll see what we mean :P

Tri-rotor huh, that'll be a 20B from a Cosmo.. wouldn't be into drag racing myself though, more drifting.
Also, Digital Electronics was seriously dragged out..

This is an AND gate, this is an OR gate, this is an INVERTER would've sufficed..

    Mangonelling??

Yup, that seems to be the reasoning behind that lecture. Whats the craic with this mangonel yoke anyways is it a flat-pack with a small circuit? Any soldering to do?

Well if drifting is your thing the JAE would be also. A lot of big stands from sumo power and the likes and driftworks were there too. They were doing ride-alongs for £10 so I did it and it was class! Getting bits of rubber in the face from the car in front through the passenger window and the chap blew the tires in the end. Well worth it.

Also I agree on the Digital Electronics front, very sleep inducing. If he continues on at that pace he'll never get to anything relating to 1E9!!

It makes an AND gate and a flip flop. Fat chance of making AC out of those voltages and currents :P

The mangonel itself is flat pack pretty much..
Your just given all the wood and a set of instructions.. its very easy really..
Few screws here and there... and a few knots.. cant get it wrong..

The electronics are done on a breadboard.. the majority is given to you, you just connect up the wires... no soldering involved at all.. thats in second year :D

Aaw maaan. What do you guys have to solder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 639 ✭✭✭devinejay

Soldering is class alright, even though it took bloody ages I genuinely really enjoyed designing and soldering my LC Eng project. 6 leds, 2 motors, 2 dpdt switches, wire and a lot of cursing! Looking forward to more of that whenever I get the chance.

Windows? Good? Excuse me but I think you may have made some mistake. If the new monkeySoft OS is actually good, hold on to your hats. If that can happen then the LHC will start throwing strange matter in our faces, and both pi and a fraction with denominator equaling zero will be solved. And Keanu Reeves, no wait Patrick Swazye, will win an oscar!
