Isnt it so cool to drive around all day with your fog lights on !

Personally i totally disagree, i would be slow to put them on even when its foggy - i think it is too bright with the fog, like having your head lights on in the fog.

What ye guys think ? who will own up !

(PS i did double check with a MOD before i posted this here - if another mod wants to delete/lock it then "they are more than welcome to" :))

These are the lights that help to blind you sometimes as the car faces towards you, right?
If so, I cycle a lot that they blind the feck out of me at inappropriate times when they are not needed!

Hate when people drive with foglights on especially when they are an SUV so higher up and behind me...seem to catch the mirror all the time!

yeah biggins the "spot lights" usually at the bottom of the car under the head lights.

I used to drive a jeep ! so was very weary about even having the normal lights on.

hate the people that drive with foglights on when not neccesary.

hate the people who drive behind you with full beams on even more though.

I have automatic lights on my car and I have it set that lights (including spot lights) are always on when I'm driving, day or night

Matt Cooper was talking about this before Christmas. A lot of people drive around with them on all the time cause they think it looks cool. Potentially quite dangerous though.

    Spot lights?

Absolutely wrecks my head!! You can't see sh*t when people have fog lights on and as far as I'm aware, they HAVE TO be fitted to all cars, but are only to be used in VERY remote country roads with no other lighting and foggy as fu*k.

I wouldn't even use them in very foggy conditions on Dublin roads as there is enough lighting already and with the fog it is just a screen of light and very difficult to make out what's ahead until last minute, where as normal lights you can see the haze of the car coming with the lights on very clearly from a distant.

Ask your local TD to propose banning in order to get your vote next time.

An other name for front fog lights.

    No.

Why do you have them turned on? Do you realise you're pissing off most of the motorists on the roads.

Anything that makes me more visible has to be a good thing. Why would anybody b e pissed off they are like 10 inches off the ground and are directed onto the road

Can't stand when people drive with fog lights on all the time. Might as well just turn on your full headlights, and pull out a torch too, for good measure.

So why do you dip your headlights when approaching or following another vehicle? After all main beam headlights make you more visible right?

Have you seriously never found fog lights dazzling?

Cause they're blinding to other road users.

That's what the "/waits /boom" bit was about.

Rear fog lights - yes; Front fog lights - no. Front fogs are purely optional and not a legal requirement.

I have been driving for nigh on ten years and I can honestly say that front fog lights have never ever dazzled me. I barely notice them. **** that don't dip their headlights do my head in though.

I hate when people in front dont use the handbrake at night and glare the feck out of you keeping the foot on the brake. That and muppets who dont dip their lights. I shouldn't have to dip my mirror becuase it's glaring me - it's dangerous. Bit of common courtesy seems to escape so many people.

What's worse are those godawful blueish lights that some cars have. They fairly cut the eyes out ya when you're driving.

Yes Clio V6. Yes I am.

Seriously do people feel this is a bad thing. What is the harm in it?

Have you seen micras? The old shape ones? Those fog lights are blinding. Ditto for quite a lot of SUV's. I've seen hundreds of dodgy / glaring foglights around.

How is your car not visible during the day?

Can anyone produce evidence of an accident caused by fog lights been on inappropriately?

There will be obviously no evidence for the opposite as they are accidents missed but I'm still pretty sure that they add an extra benefit.

Idon't go into Motors (too many holier than thous) too often Ciaran so I missed them threads. MarkR I must have been just lucky but i rarely even notice if a car has fog lights on. Badly adjusted dim lights are more of a nuicance I'd imagine.
