Israel has just scored an own goal in the propaganda war. Its Navy has rammed the Cypriot vessel carrying medical supplies and with doctors on board causing substantial damage to the craft. Israel has no excuse for this huminatarian mission was well publicised in the media since Sunday.

The boat ended up in Lebanon. This is appalling considering Israel is making absolutly no attempt to help aid to the countless number of innocent civilians it has maimed in the current holocaust in Gaza.

Israel is no longer considered about the way its perceived in the west, and hasn't been for a long time.

The Cypriots deserve it for beating us 5-2 in football a few years ago.

What a pile of absolute bastards. Israel should be ashamed.

Send an EU/NATO task force to nuke stop them, seriously. Israel is a waste of space. Bit hasty tbh. But I'm still pissed off.

Why not? They're not content with absolutely raping palestine just because of a few dissidents with rockets, but they're ramming aid boats out of the water in international territory where they have absolutely no jurisdiction. Give me one good reason why the world should not dicipline them for these, stuipd, bigoted, thoughless actions.

Sure, defend themselves. But with a couple of snipers or the like, not F-16's and warships. All they're doing is killing indiscrimiately because they're pissed off and to assert themselves.

I'm not agreeing with you or disagreeing.

The tone, extremely strong expressive language, these similar topic related threads quickly take lately is terrible and shocking.
I'll say no more on this subject.
I'm not qualified in any way to express a useful opinion, in what is clearly a huge problem for the people directly involved.

    All the best.

So if a boat is warned not to procede into a closed military area, then refuses to listen to said warning and keeps going, then as patrol boats move to intercept said boat.... The very same boat then decides to try and out-maneuver the patrol boat and it ends up in a collision. It's all the Israeli's fault.

Of course the Israeli's are in the wrong, I mean when someone deliberately tries to break through a naval blockade you're supposed to let them do it. Especially when it's an unmarked boat that doesn't show in any way that it's a relief vessel, it's common military practice to let them sail right through

Ahhh come on. It was a well-publicised aid mission heading towards a different country. The fact that Israel is blockading Gaza at all is a bit pathetic.

Why is it? They have to stop arms getting into Hamas somehow.

Israel reject a majority of aid ships that try to dock with aid for Palestine. I've been on 2 that were escorted out of Israeli waters by gun ships aiming weapons at us. And it would have been well known it was a chartered aid ship because they clear the initial paperwork for it but reject it at the end. Only something like 20 odd % ever make it.

Is it common practise to blockade aid to refugees and to cause starvation in a region?

Are you for real? The aid ships do be pre cleared and are tracked. They do know very well they are aid ships and when they do let them dock the Israelis control all the movement and x ray everything. So they know guns are not coming in that way.

Good stuff, and I would hope our navy would ram similar craft delivering drugs to our shores, or as in back in the day, ram shipments of arms to the IRA.

    Bravo to the Israeli Navy.

What is Obama's stance on Israel?

    I assume 100% unwavering support.

If the funds were cut off, Israel would have a life expectancy of about 11.5 seconds. The old adage of being nice to people on the way up springs to mind.

The last report I saw he was asking for calm from both sides or at least along the lines of that. He also said he was closely monitoring the situation.

You can't expect him to have much to say though, the man isn't even in power yet. Until he is, he just has to sit and watch like everyone else.

I totally agree with you, Bravo to the Israeli Navy, the more they keep this up the greater the boycott.

The Notices to Mariners (which are also well publicised and are required reading for anyone planning on sailing about the place) gave plenty of advance notice (like, since August 13th) that the ship would not be permitted access. This was not an off-the-cuff decision by an Israeli captain to deny access.

    NTM

    Again more neivity from you.

You have no idea what comes and goes from this country both to and from Israel.

I used to treat your posts as a source of amusement here, but in the last few hours its become painfully obvious to me that you believe the crap you post.

No it doesn't. It just means that the company that produces it was assigned that EAN number by the Israeli Standards Institute.

I'd bet my life the computer you are currently using has an Intel processor in it. I'd advise you to turn it off immediately. The processor in it was as likely to have been fabricated in Israel, as Leixlip.

Look... all these threads on here are getting stupid. I'm surprised they haven't been at least merged by a moderator. This is an issue that decades worth of work by representitives from the communitities directly involved hasn't sorted, bickering on here about the rights and wrongs of the situation from behind a computer screen in Ireland while sipping a glass of red and chumping digestives is completely idiotic.

I call on they people currently discussing it at length in the various threads to, at the very minimum, attempt to put your own feelings aside and contribute about ways that the situation might possibly be resolved in the future without resorting back to using the stupid "terrorists/murderers" type of language being used at the moment.

Stop with the oneupmanship and talking likely angsty teenagers discussing who the best bands are and start debating.
If you're making a point have a source to back it up ffs. Otherwise it's of no value.

    For God sake, please.

*disclaimer, not aimed at everyone involved (but the bleedin' majority)
