When I logged onto boards and saw this thread,I immediately thought myself. . . That happened in England.I was right.

~Ireland is one of the few countries which still has a strong moral fibre within its citizens.

Would bystanders allow a person to be kidnapped on Henry Street without intervening?
    I think not.
Its a shame the poor moral state in which England and many other states find themselves'.Thank God Ireland isn't anywhere near as bad.

Yes to death penalty. These 9 are scum, they are of no use to society which needs protection. They've proven what they are capable of and no amount of pc rehab will make them productive members of society.
They've done it once and crossed the line from whats right into whats wrong.

Ah, but you can never be 100% sure they did it

This sh1t's always been going on - it certainly would have been going on during biblical times. Seems pretty old testament to me - female oversteps some mark and gets punished by a load of men.

Yeah, what's the point in these threads? Everyone's disgusted by it? Wow! You don't say!

No, in fairness it gets all serious for stuff like this... one troll will come along and say the bitch deserved it or whatever, but generally the serious hat gets put on.

That's appalling. There's plenty of moral fibre within English society too... yes, there are serious social problems in certain areas but these are not representative of all English people.

Tsk tsk tsk.I was strictly referring to the country as a whole, not to each indivual.

And Yes,it is appalling that I was correct:)

And,she was kidnapped off a street in England and bystanders didn't do anything.

Yep. That guy who invented rape back in 1998 really has a lot to answer for!

    We are not far behind.

Not enough is being done to get rid of drugs, prostitution and alchoal related issues for starters. There should 0 drugs and 0 prostitution in this country. Its a small country. Surely these big drug barons and all their little boys could be taken down if the Gardai got the right Government support/legislation?

Also, there is no cencorship on Internet sites in this country nor TV. Uk channels are brodcasting in without much cencorship and the Internet is a free for all with young children and teenagers able to access hardcore pornography and other anti social material in a secretive manner. Its only a matter of time before we see horrible crimes like these here unless cencorship of media and Internet is brought in to control the situation. The phone sex lines are also brodcast over all the newspapers for children to ring. Sex shops are open on our door steps also normalising this activity. Why do people think young children and teenagers are turning into rapists? The human mind is very fragile.

All porn sites could be blocked by providers if proper legislation was brought in. :(

Aye, oh for the days of yore before immigrants invented rape.

In fairness it's a horrible story, it's the kind of thing that can happen anywhere. It's a tragedy, and hopefully they'll be imprisoned for a long time.

... and yet, this crime is like something that would happen in Afghanistan under the Taliban - a religious regime that outlawed any kind of fun.

Oh dear, oh dear. Let's all turn to God for salvation. It's never to late.

Good luck in preventing the above. Yes it will get worse and there is nothing you or your God can do to stop it.

Unfortunately one of the more popular organisations in this country has for years made the consumption of alcohol one of its most important rituals.
Also, there is no cencorship on Internet sites in this country nor TV.

That is not true. There is very little censorship on the internet but for Irish based sites there is some. There is most definitely censorship on TV here. Claiming otherwise is nonsense.

That's a fair point but parents need to take responsibility for keeping their children away from the dodgier stuff.
Sex shops are open on our door steps also normalising this activity.

Repeat after me: Sex is normal. Sex is normal.

Imo shutting it away and pretending like it doesn't exist does more damage to people growing up.
Why do people think young children and teenagers are turning into rapists? The human mind is very fragile.

There have always been rapists. Even before the internet. I know, shocking but there you go.
All porn sites could be blocked by providers if proper legislation was brought in. :(

    Boo. I like porn.

WTF? this thread is about the shocking rape of a 14 year old girl not about censorship of the internet ...

But I do agree there should be 0 prostitution, those girls should give it out for free ;)

That's right Dudess, in fact the bible started all of this. In the bible Moses even killed women and took thousands of virgins from cities that he ransacked as his loot/booty. Not to mention when the bible says that their god tells them all to eat poo in Ezekiel 4:12-13. This is where the phrase "eat sh*t" came from.

Ban the bible, it started this whole palaver.

Technically at the moment everyone from 3 to 103 have access to hardcore pornography free of charge.

I think religious images and websites should be blocked. Some religions are very questionable. However it would not be fair to just block some, so we have to blanket ban all religous talk on the internet.

Show me one country with a population of over 100,000 that has no prostitution, drugs or violence.

Internet providers could block off a list of sites if they wanted. Surely this is very easy? There is a lack of legislation there thats all. Technically its easy?

They block it, within 5minutes there will be a way around it. It is not possible to filter the internet.

I heard about this a few weeks back on tv (can't remember the programme name) The reason they gave her for raping was because she told their 'Leaders' girlfriend to dump him, and the stories of the amount of people who came along as it was happening are totally unbelievable. One woman went over to her as she was lying on the ground after being raped and had her nose broken and asked her if she was ok. I think i can safely say she didnt look ok, so why did the woman believe her when she said that she was alright and then walk away? Why did the two men who walked right into it just look the other way? Fair enough the scumbags who done this should be punished and what was printed in the BBC report didnt even tell the story properly (The victims description would shock any of us), but what kind of person walks by,sees this happening and then says nothing? Ok, you might be afraid of being attacked, but whats stopping you from ringing the police (Everyone has a mobile phone) and reporting whats happening? For me the people who walked past and done **** all about it are just as bad and those who carried out the attack.

You mean the way they block the illegal sharing of music from children and teenagers. Oh wait! Do you think if it was relaly that simple that there would still be stuff like child porn easily accesable? You're living in dreamreligion land.

Well its rediculous. And they wonder why society is the way it is. I often see teenagers in Internet cafes checking porn and also with other filth up on Bebo sites etc fuelling pure filth. Its not fair on them nor society. :(
