I will not STFU, remember where you are...

Lets compare a recreational drug and working in lidl, shall we?

If you woke up at 6 in the morning from an online binge you must have gone to bed early?

There's no comparrison, simple as :)

Apologies. Didnt mean any offence to young Xavier. Temporarily got caught up in the moment and used AH speak to illustrate my point rather than doing so in my own unique style.

Would you be reading a tabloid newspaper? Porn? A book written by David Attenborough?

That's a whole other topic, but it depends what you're watching on TV.

Well I would rather play wow all day and evening than watch the crap that is on TV.

The number of people I've seen trying to relate giving up WoW to overcoming drug addiction makes me think I'd rather have a dimebag than a 30-day card.

If I'm correct, I have the highest /played time in wow on boards.ie across all my characters (according to a recent thread on the WoW forum here). Yet still I'm not "addicted"

I rarely actually sit down and watch TV, I don't drink much at all (can't even remember the last time I was out in a pub), so dunno what the problem is, I don't do anyone any harm by enjoying playing a game I like

Also don't see the problem with smoking weed either so meh...

Well see, I would argue that weed and alcohol still leave you open to socialise with people. I mean youd have some serious skills if you could play WoW and flirt successfully at the same time.

Well that's easy enough for me as my missus also plays Wow, she gave up trying to stop me playing a long time ago and just joined in.

WoW is every bit as addictive and destructive as any narcotic/addictive substance. I played it for over 2 years and I am only now seeing what i was like during that period, skipping nights out to stay in , not socialising, not excercising, becoming unhealthy and obsessed. All of those symptoms are the same as drug addiction.

Comparing it to watching tv for 3-4 hours, in my opinion, is moronic. I can easily go without TV but I couldnt go without WoW and anyone who plays it regularly and says they can go without it is suffering from another classic addiction trait, denial.

WoW itself is set up to be addictive, its not like any other game that has a defined ending or limits on what you can do. WoW is ever changing and adapting to ensure that there is no possible ending, no sense of completion, there is always something more to do, or at least it makes you feel like you have to.

WoW builds itself up to be a social game where you rely on others to 'complete' tasks that really cannot be ever completed as when you do the game creators simply create a new task. So immediately it drags you into a social network that replaces real life social networks.

Lastly, the facts speak for themselves, people have actually died from overplaying WoW due to neglecting their own body. What does that remind you of? Again, drugs addictions. I have not heard of any other game with that track record. WoW is every bit as dangerous as any drugs out there.

Complete BS. I've played WoW on and off since release. It's a hobby, a passtime, something I enjoy doing. It has little or no adverse effects on my life. I've a full time job, good friends I enjoy socialising with, other interests such as poker and football, and I excercise regularly. The only thing WoW has replaced in my life is sh!t tv.

It's a game, games are supposed to be fun and it is fun.

Are you high? Did you just take a big hit from wow? Ok we have compared wow with lots of drugs out there. I think you need to sleep or get your brain checked out by multiple doctors. No needles came with my Wrath of the Litch King... Them b4stards...

Anything can be addictive if your that much of a tithead... pfft!!!

Denial - Not just a river

Overeactive defensive behaviour upon any perceived criticism of your 'hobby', glad you guys arent acting like your addicted anyway.

Something needs needles to be addictive now? Damn tobacco and alcohol companies with their false advertising!
I drink a fair bit on nights out with work for example, it makes me feel good. I dont however drink for 3-4 hours every day like a 'tithead' as you say. If i drank for 3-4 hours every day im sure others would say i had a problem and then i would go ' no way man! no needles with these mutliple bottles! its a hobby! i can stop anytime i want!'

    And so forth.

Ignore the troll or continue beating him with the "YOUR WRONG" stick?

Well you got one thing right, Tobacco and alcohol companies falsely advertise, and have for many many years :)

Drinking is not considered a hobby, beit 3-4 bottles a day, or just at the weekends. Goodluck getting a job with that on your CV

    Hobbies and Interests: DRINKING

    Here comes the roflcopter :P

I am not addicted to wow, nor are most people. We do enjoy the game. Did your account get an indefinate ban? Does your mother not allow you play it? Or are you just too rubbish at the game? Something in your tone suggests that you have been hurt in the past. Poor guy... :(

I don't understand how you became addicted to a game though Fishfood ?
If I wanted to stop playing tomorrow, I would but if I wanted to stop smoking tomorrow, I couldn't honestly say I would.

I enjoy playing in my spare time so I won't stop playing it just because a certain section of society have "mental issues" and do "think" they become addicted. It's a good game, so wtf is the problem anyway ?

If you think you were addicted to a game then really, you have more serious problems to worry about.

Oh and I played PlanetSide (MMOFPS) for years also, before Wow ever came out and I really enjoyed playing that too.

I just cannot understand how you or anyone else thinks they are or were addicted to a fcking game.

So if I ask you "are you addicted to hardcore animal porn?" and you say "no", are we to take it that you are simply in denial? Again, your spouting complete BS.

I really don't see how I'm over-reacting? You posted complete and utter rubbish and I called you on it. I've done it before with other topics, and I'm sure I'll do it again.

Last time I checked, the adictiveness of their products was not one of the major selling points for tobacco and alcohol companies. And for what its worth, I smoked for nearly 12 years, and gave up at New Years. I can tell you right now that WoW is most definitely not addictive in the sense cigarettes are.

Doing something for 3-4 hours a day is not a measure of addictiveness. I work for 8-10 hours a day, but you're not claiming I'm addicted to work.

Tbh, if this is the level of your thinking, you have far bigger problems in store for you then an addiction to a computer game.

RP servers are just giant cyber-secks chatrooms with a GUI. It's the only reason anyone rolls on them.
