guna keep this nice n short,

Often see lads wearing belts while doin the bench press, would it make a difference with regards to the amount you can bench or is it to maintain a good motion while benching?

Thought you'd only need them for the likes of the deadlift etc...

Belts are for holding up your pants..
Them lads are plonkers in my opinion.
I'm sure someone will say otherwise. (as is the case in here)

Aww man. Belts are only used in the bench by powerlifters wearing bench shirts just to keep them pulled down and in place. They play no part ion the lift other than making some guys feel hardcore.

These guys you see are not wearing bench shirts. They are wearing matching gloves, but not bench shirts. Srsly these guys need to stop looking at Youtube videos of big guys lifting and start researching how the big guys got there.

They're really good for pushing your gut up to shorten your ROM.

    I'm half joking.

I don't think Ive ever worn a belt benching but I know when wearing one for other things I look and feel the part (as well as the obvious benefits of a belt) which in turn helps my confidence. I'm guessing there is an element of added confidence as well as making themselves look hardcore.
