Your next pizza. I have worked in a delivery office - they're dirty bastids, some of them, and for so-called idiots, they can remember who tipped and didn't. Be warned. Everyone in the shop might make a contribution..........

Well if thats really the case they have lost my custom.
We used to order 16inch pizza, so thats 40 euro I will be keeping in my pocket.;)
And when I get my next text from Four Star with their
latest offer on the go , I will ring them and explain why I won't be ordering anymore pizza's.
Obviously not saying where I heard it though.:pac:

Never tip the pizza guy, thought never even crossed my mind tbh. Usually tip taxi drivers and the like though.

I don't order pizza that often at all but I do get Thai food delivered. I knew a girl who used to deliver for this particular takeaway and said she would always go to the houses of "good tippers" first.

They only have 2/3 drivers so I know them quite well at this stage! I give them a tip every time and find that even on a busy night (when I'm told it could be 40 mins to an hour) they'll get to me in about 20-25 mins max and my food is always hot.

I'm presuming it's because of the tips but I'm not gonna risk stopping now! :p

It's people willing to work for under minimum wage that undercut everyone.
If you get a similar job, insist on minimum wage at least

Sorry, comes across as a harsh post, not sure why people tolerate it though:confused:
I realise you didn't work there long

I didnt know what they got paid but i did notice that they only hire foreigners. Iv applied for delivery work in Dominoes a few times in the last few months and they never get back to me, i can only assume they wont hire me as they think il insist on min wage since im Irish. Its a pity really since im a student and working evenings would be perfect for me!
Im not anti foreign or anthing but it pissed me off a bit i must say.

I didn't realise what **** service we got in restaurants and that in Ireland until I went to some decent ones Stateside. Sure you get **** waiters there too but I had ones take time out to explain the different types of wine suggest loads that they'd thought we'd like for meals etc. Friendly, funny and working damn hard at their jobs. They all got good tips.

Here waiters and waitresses (in general) aren't on the same par at all.

As for pizza delivery guys - I always toss them a couple of euro. They're delivering pizza - it's a ****ty job with ****ty pay. Give a brother a break - c'mon!

Yeah but stateside 10% is considered a terrible tip, they would usually get around the 20% mark and for bad service they would still get around 10%. Thats what iv been told by Americans anyway. They also try to avoid the scabby Europeans..

Nice Guy Eddie: C'mon, throw in a buck!
    Mr. Pink: Uh-uh, I don't tip.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't tip?
Mr. Pink: Nah, I don't believe in it.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't believe in tipping?
Mr. Blue: You know what these chicks make? They make ****.
Mr. Pink: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money that she can quit.
Nice Guy Eddie: I don't even know a ****ing Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me get this straight: you don't ever tip?

I don't ever tip, not because of this film, add up all them 2 euros you give to the delivery man in your life, That's a lot of money! I could buy more pizza out of that money...

Fuk the pizza guy, I don't tip him anything.

Slam the door in his face and run as fast as possible to the sofa to scoff down my 16" pizza while watching supersize me.

I normally tip them about €2 too - €3 if they're quicker than normal.

Even I wouldnt tip the pizza guy. Not unless they make it to the door within 30 minutes - it almost never happens anymore.

I don't like pizza :pac: in general my tipping habits are entirely dependent on how flush I am, just after I get my grant or if I'm working full time, or I've just gotten a load of money from somewhere I'd tip in cafés, taxis, maybe even bars. If I'm broke though I don't feel bad about not tipping.

Mate of mine was stuck for work few weeks back and went into four star in sandyford looking for a job to tide him over. He was told he wouldnt get minimum wage and that most guys make between 5-6 euro an hour on average so he would have to make do on that. He actually figured he was making better money on the dole so turned down a job with them . Isnt it againest the law to charge below minimum wage or does that not include the service industry? Dont know how anyone could survive even on the minimum wage in this city but below that is just insane.

Always take the opportunity to haggle with the delivery guy. Say a figure. Every time he says anything other than "ok" knock a euro off the price you'll pay, reminding him/her that he can always stick the pizza up his/her hole.

If you make a successful purchase as you hand over the cash let them know you **** spit and blew your wad all over the note they are holding.

Then give them a couple of good slaps and tell them to fcuk off out of it and not come near your house again.

Next time, up the ante by answering the door in your underpants and holding a gun.

Fcuk the pizza guy and the spitters.

I always tip two or three euro, and strangely enough I always get a nice quick delivery, even on the busy weekend nights.
Taxis's on the other hand depends purely on the conversation- if they're sound they get a tip, cranky oddballs get nowt.

How anyone could tip a taxi driver is beyond me. I mean would you tip a Dublin bus driver as you got off at your stop?

im amazed by the amount of people that actually tip for delivery in this thread....pizza places...especially 4 star are a bunch of robbing f******

Somebody mentioned many pages earlier that corporation areas tip more than "well to do areas".

Why does anybody tip? What did the delivery guy do other than his job? I was in a restaurant tonight and did not tip. Why? The service was slow, unwelcoming and apathetic.

I remember being in America. We were leaving and the girl tutted when she went to the table to see what was there. I turned and smiled and she frowned. Why should I give a ****, its not my f**king problem your country instilled a culture of tipping. I paid for my damn food, let your boss pay your wages. Im not paying twice.

Thats the same for me here unless the service deserves it.

Taxi's, you can go Fvck yourselves. What do you deserve it for? Driving me to where I tell you and hoping you get stuck in traffic so you can tell me your fvcking life story. Fvck you!

Doorman in a hotel. Im not fcking john travolta(who tips very well), Im poor, probably poorer than you so NO! I have my own arms anyway and can open a door.

Porters. I will give them a tip on account of my GF's heavy ass bags. Sky caps also fall into that category.

Barman, bite me! Give me a clean glass and a consistent pint and still i wont give you a tip. What do you need a tip for? You get free drink and flirt with ladies every night and day you work.

I seem to have slipped into a tangent so will stop while Im already behind. :D

I started tipping €1 regularly and I'm getting a bit less of the 'extra cheese' than I used to.

They deliver pizza's for crying out loud. Monkeys have been trained to do more complicated things.

If anything tip the guy that cooked it, not the tit who delivers it. you see him for about 10 - 15 seconds? What does he do in that time that amazes you so much that you give him your 1-2 euro?

I know a pizza delivery guy who is a DIRECTOR of an insurance broker... tell me he needs tips and I will laugh my ****ing ass off.

i generally stick with the 2 euro rule

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,159 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Over here in Domino's it is $6.95 to collect a large pizza yourself or $14.95 to have it delivered. So generally I go get it myself and if for some reason I need it delivered, i.e. I've been on the sauce, then there's not a hope of the feckers gettin a tip out of me considerin the price difference.

good call. if the delivery price is that expensive i wont be shelling out any more

In the states people working in bars etc only get $2 - $3 dollars per hour in some place as the job relies solely on tips. Thats the way it is.

In Ireland there is a minimum wage, if you are willing to undercut someone else by taking less than the legal minimum you are entitled to then thats your problem, why should I tip you!

Oh and if i find out that someone has spat on my food I'll put in an order and when they arrive at my door i will proceed to kick the living **** out of them..

    What pizza guy??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭Zangetsu

Everywhere gets about 2-4 euro off me for a tip, I've worked in a bar and know how important tips are to people in that sort of industry. My tips used to be worth more then my weekly wage (which was ****).

I tip if it's handy to do so. If something is 18, i'll give them 20 and tell them to keep the change. I'm not going to go out of my way to tip them. It's not my fault they're working for a job that doesn't pay minimum wage.

Maybe they should have listened harder at school (relax only joking ;))
