How many grades are there in total ?

3 as far as im aware. Can't remember exactly where i read or heard it from (probably in the game itself or the manual) but if you have 3 schematics for the same weapon you will get the highest grade/condition according to your repair skill. So the higher your repair skill + the more schematics you have, the better the weapon will be when you make it

Interesting. Seems like I'm still learning as I go along here :D Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,067 ✭✭✭Gunmonkey

And for schematics like the Nuka-Grenade (such a satisfying explosion :pac: ) and the Bottlecap Mine, you get 2 and then 3 for each one you make with extra schematics found. Very handy for the Nuka's as Quantums are hard to find.

    Rare weapons I found:
Burnmaster flamethrower-In a cave in the South-West I think, was filled with Ghouls and lots of radiation
    .
The Terrible Shotgun-kill the merchant in the cliffside caverns
Fisto-RobCo factory I think, could be another factory in that area
The Shocker-not really sure, thinks it an office block somewhere in DC
Lincolns Repeater-In the Archives if I remember correctly
Medic Power Armour-cave near Vault 87, either has Yao Guai or Deathclaws guarding it

To expand on this slightly, the unique named weapons are repaired using the standard version of the weapon they're based on.

"You have to shoot 'em in the head!" spoiler:
I thought it was a bit random how you happen to ask about Fort Constantine in the speech options, I don't even remember the ghoul mentioning it? Anyway I went there and got the special power armour, I love how you have different ways to finish quests :)

Also whats the deal with finding the Android. I chose to
Tell Zimmer that he is dead and then swam over to pinkerton but was no option to ask about the Android

Woah, I've found loads of them and never bothered to grab them. Must start storing them now.

Because you're not supposed to tell Zimmer about him,you have to find Pinkerton first

    Republic of Dave
I talked to the girl at the door, and when I went into the room, they all started instantly attacking me? wtf?

Accidentally shoot at someone? I have done that a few times.

Republic of Dave is now republic of dead-bodies-and-little-kids-running-off-land. He annoyed me.

Where is Republic Of Dave? I've kind of stalled half way through my "goody two shoes" game to start a new one where I am just pure evil - its way more fun just ruining everyones life :D

Very top right of the map I believe.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to being good next play through.

You didn't by any chance say to her
" Your republic is Forfeit! Prepare to be reclaimed by the Wasteland! "
did you? If you say that to any of them they will attack you

or you could select the explorer perk ? anyone else select that one, you can see all places on the map, pretty handy but i might add its pretty daunting seeing the amount of places you can explore.

Actually that sniper lad never appeared in my game at all.
The cars exploded as I went into minefield like they were being shot, fair enough. Then I passed some brotherhood of steel outcasts walking through minefield. Went to Paradise falls for the slaver quest. No one mentioned capturing the Sniper (I read online you get asked to capture him for them). Went back and searched the building where he's supposed to be, no sign of him (except for the ammo crates and that) and just some guy called mel fleeing just outside Minefield.

I wonder if this was a bug/glitch or did the BOS outcasts kill him first time I was there ? (Playing on XBOX)

This game is too addictive; I jumped into it last night, thinking "just a quick hour around the wastelands before bed". Next thing I knew it was 3am! that I overslept this morning and was a half hour late for work is a total coincidence of course!

    Though two awesome things happened during that playthrough;
    1 )
I found a random satellite tower, killed a few talon scum guarding it and found some satellite alignment codes for a computer. Entering them, nothing happened so I left the tower. Upon leaving, 6 nuclear warheads flew down from space & nuked the surround countryside. Sh*ting hell! I also found an old nuclear silo that looks suspiciously active, if I could just find the launch codes ...

    2 )
I found Harold & his mate Bob! I guess 3 Dog was right, there really was a tree :D

So so true :) im a fallot addict need my fix :(.

I had something funny like that happen to me, i was walking in the southwest wastes when i found an outdoor cinema with loads and loads of cars. I was thinking wow this looks cool wonder what i can loot.

I fail to see their is a group of raiders sitting around in it, next thing i know im crouched behind the wall of the cinema and they are shooting me with some heavy weaponry and i was scrambling to pick a good weapon to decapitate them with.

Next thing i know one of them hits a car to much which explodes, setting of a chain reaction of all the other cars. Everyone of them blew up all the raiders were toasted and i was unharmed behind the wall.

BTW: anyone else find dogmeat can be so annoying at times, he either goes off on one growling in the wrong direction while you become the party toy for mutants, runs into a group thinking hes like superdog and you have to save him or blocks you in a room so you cant get out.

He annoyed me so much the other day i had to put him down and reload :), i suppose having Charon in my party makes up for it as his combat shotgun is lethal.

Yeah dogmeat can be annoying, but you can "talk" to him & tell him to wait for you at Vault101, thus avoiding having to put the poor fellow down :(

Oh yeah I almost forgot. Been meaning to ask this with a while - Noth of little lamplight theres a fenced area with Radiation warning signs populated by super mutants, when you go in the Rads build up to something astromonical, several hundred per sec, which kill me quite quickly.

I've tried radiation suits, rad-away and rad-x combos but I still cant get in there, is there some trick to it ?

I found the No Mutants Allowed map pretty good.

    http://www.nma-fallout.com/content.php?page=fo3-maps

The descriptions are handy if your looking for some place in particular.

Iv noticed slight bugs like these also, or it could be that the characters etc died somehow in the game (makes you feel as though the game world doesn't always revolve around your character :)). Mainly i notice this 'bug' is concerning the trade caravans. Sometimes when iv played the game, one or two of the trade caravan guys dont have their Brahmin transport and bodyguard.

Yeah, he bravely ran forward to attack a but of 3 molerats just as I lobbed a grenade at them. Crippled his left leg apparently, but he was asking for it.

How do you heal him? I know there was a 'hold still while I fix you' chat option when I first met him, but haven't seen it since. He bought it yesterday in Germantown Police HQ, was tempted to reload and work out how to heal him, but figured he can stay dead till next playthrough.

You need to have stimpacks, its not so bad though as one stimpack fully heals him you just need to be close to him apply it which sometimes means running into a horde of enemies and doing it.

Charon makes up for Dogmeat completely, you dont have to heal him and with his combat shotgun he kills enemies faster than you can. He was well worth the 2K i bought him for :).
