Men Are ye that shallow?

Well, put it like this!
Shallowness means being attracted to somebody simply because they "look good" instead of taking personality into consideration.
The concept of who looks good and who doesn’t is universal because we all evolved brains that associate certain facial features (eg. facial symmetry) and bodily features (eg. a certain hip to waist ratio) with increased odds of producing both healthy bodies for themselves and of producing healthy offspring.

So the genes that built the bodies and brains that preferred those traits were more likely to get passed than the genes that built bodies and brains that had a preferences for other traits (eg. facial asymmetry or heaviness which is linked to infertility).

So nowadays both men and women are, whether they like to admit it or not, shallow when it comes to who they would want to mate with. Even though we don’t consciously think it, our genes have hardwired us with a brain which impels our body to mate with the best possible deal we can get to maximise the chances of our offspring growing up to be attractive, pass on more of genes and so on. You need only look at the wedding photos of the local newspaper to see that people only mate with people of equal physical attractiveness. It is irrational to ignore the evolutionary baggage which nature has left us with!!!

That said, people can deviate to a certain extent with regard to how equal in attractiveness their mate is and can sometimes be seen to mate with somebody less attractive than themselves..but ONLY if the person has other traits eg. humour, ambition or another good characteristic that make up for the deficit. We are programmed to be always trying to get the best for ourselves, whether we like to think it or not!!

So in answer...yes, all people, men included are shallow.......makes me ashames to be a human really!!! And I'm 18 by the way, not some bitter old guy!!!
