The MIBI (motor insurance board of ireland) deal with uninsured and unknown vehicles. Your dad just has to go thrrough his insurance and they'll deal with the MIBI my friend had this problem before and she got her compensation fairly promptly. Goodluck and I hope your dad recovers quickly

Pay someone to break his legs. No excuse for driving uninsured.
    ****ing scum.
Some of the best people I have met in foreign climes have been taxi drivers. Tend to be a font of local knowledge. Love hearing how exciting they can make an entire life story and yet fit it all into ten to twenty minutes.

As said above MIB will sort it out.

Which of course is funded by insured drivers.

If out of work then he will need to show his returns from previous years. Some taxi drivers will be in trouble if that happened to them

and this comes from where ?
the taxi insurance companies have a set rate that is payed out for loss of earnings .last time i checked with i think it was axa the rate was
80e a day up to a max of five days .
dont know where you got that information on having to show tax returns to make a loss of earnings claim to you car insurance company .

Yea there is some taxi drivers like that, my dad even talks to me about them but does that mean hes like one of them? My dad is really bad mentally, hes in total shock, he's never had a crash this bad before in his whole 40 years of driving and 12 years of driving his taxi.

    .

Don't dwell on what that Darren guy posted, no one else has.

The likes of him and his ilk come here, post up some total crap for a while - realise they're misfits in the company of (mostly) good people and feck off elsewhere.

If your Dad is still shook up, suggest getting out of the house for a walk with you. Get his mind off the accident, and show him your not too upset either.

I'm a father too, and I think in your Dads case I'd be more worried the effects of this are having on my family moreso than I.

Post over on Spooks board, the lads there seem fairly level headed.

What a ridiculous thing to say. He's shook up. The hospital isn't going to make any difference, but it doesn't change the fact that he was affected by it.

His dad went to bed suffering from shock, thats an injury and I bore that in mind when I was posting.

where do you normally go with an injury??

Last night my dad was working ( hes a taxi driver) and a drunk driver in his mid 20's crashed straight into the back of him (the dent in the back of the car looks really bad). There was 4 passengers in the taxi and one old woman in her late 70's. She was in great shock but luckily nobody was hurt including my dad. My dad rang the gards and they quicky found out the other driver was drunk (6~ pints) and he had no insurance. The drunk driver was arrested and taken back to the station.

Now here comes the dilemma. Seeing as the drunk driver was uninsured will my dad have to claim off his own insurance?

I don't know a great deal about how the crash happened or how fast the drunk driver was going because my dad is in bed and he only got to sleep by drowning his misery ironically on the drink. He's in great shock according to my mom.

This really ****s my dad up now because he could be out of work for a while with no income coming in and trying to support 2 children and an unemployed wife because some idiot of a drunk driver thought he'd take the risk. Well I hope he burns in hell.

have you never heard of anyone going to hospital due to shock.try reading all posts in a thread before you go off on one

delighted.ran in to one before years ago.25 mph and skidded on ice in to the back of him.wouldnt get out of the car.straight on to base and called guards.next day said he had severe neck/back pain and would be taking me to the cleaners.did my own detective work and that very night was out side his base horse playing with other drivers.(severe neck/back pain,i dont think so).claimed for the car been broke up even though travelling at 25mph and went in to his tow bar.his friend was the inspecting mechanic.got 24,000 euro and put my premium sky high.heard other instances of taxi drivers screwing people so i'd say your father wont be out of money for long.they think they are king of the roads when they are really scum of the earth

why are people so quick to judge??
    think outside the box
a bit of empathy would go a long way
