In fairness, I was watching the show with a truck driver friend of mine and he found the comments that truck drivers are always murdering prostitutes very unfair and offensive. The truth is he had hardly killed any in the last couple of weeks, as he'd been concentrating on hitchhikers recently.

The simple fact is you're far more likely to be die in a car crash than to get murdered by a trucker. I hope this sordid affair isn't putting too many women off the idea of whoring their bodies out for money.

    From that article:
A spokeswoman from English Collective of Prostitutes said: 'This is a truly heartless comment. In the wake of the murders of five young women in Ipswich and the killing of over 60 prostitute women in the last 10 years, how did this remark, making light of the murder of prostitute women, come to be broadcast?

'Mr Clarkson should apologise immediately to prostitute women and our families especially those of us bereaved by murder.'

I'm sorry but lol. He should also apologise to the heroin dealers and pimps whose livliehoods have been affected.

    Clarkson is a legend.

    End of story.

Clarkson, ignorant ligger and jackass who uses PUBLIC airwaves to promulgate his brand of "Humour" something I must confess I never got a handle on.

These punters must realise they cannot use public airwaves(facilities paid for by the public) to peddle their little phobias and ideals.

Time we woke up to these people and stop treating them as if they were some kind of superior deity, when in reality they are just brass necked liggers.

Massive difference between Clarkson's and that knob-end Brand's comments

Did you listen to the Ross/Brand stuff? It's mostly Ross that says they stuff about the granddaughter.

Do you just sit there boiling in your own juices while reading what's posted on After Hours FlutterinBantam?

I think that boards.ie should have a complaints board for all those of sensitive tendencies.

they should have a new system for complaints, if the number of complainers is more than 50% of the people in a country take it seriously, if not, majority rules and ignore it. daft b**tards

7 Million people watched the show on Sunday night, and before it was reported on by newspapers and websites, there was only 188 complaints.

I think Stephen Fry said it best when he siad "You’re offended? So ****ing what?"

188 YAHOOS got offended, who cares, lets move on.

What are we here wimps or what??

If Stephen Fry said that to me and I paid a UK licence fee and if I was offended,I would say "Yes I was offended ,and I pay your wages you fat prick, now put your frikken Ace Of Hearts on that!!!"

Who do those people think they are??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 724 ✭✭✭cock robin

Enough is enough. Are there hoards of people out there just waiting to be offended. The slightest off the cuff remark and they are on the blower giving out. Why dont they bring back the test card and all of these cnuts can watch that with out fear of being upset. Clarkson and the Top Gear team are doing a great job. I wonder was he referring to Peter Sutcliffe (truck driver) aka the Yorkshire Ripper who despatched 13 sisters in the 70s. So its not a remark without qualification.

I remember Viz magazine printed an article on giving tips to 'all you lorry drivers' on how to murder prostitutes and where to dump them. Twas humerous. They have a bad rep alright.
On a serious note, Robert Black - a lorry driver was convicted of abducting and murdering three little girls in the early 80s. Susan Maxwell, Caroline Hogg and Sarah Harper. He's also a suspect in the disappearance of little Mary Boyle in Donegal 25yrs ago. One evil bastard.

You obviously weren't made for this world. Can you imagine how bland tv would be if you couldn't offend ANYBODY? No comedy show would exist, no news/documentary would ever be broadcast for fear of bias.
I don't know what white bread, de-caffeinated type of tv you wish to see but I'm pretty sure you should stick to watch home shopping channels.

Also nice use of 'fat prick', really shows your sincerity.

In a world like that, this board wouldn't exist, which is what a few complainers here seem to forget.

The problem is not so much the offensive tone, as the lack of wit.

That's certainly not something Fry can be accused of. He'd wipe the floor metaphorically with that greasy loudmouth cretin Brand, and rightly so.

Ross and Clarkson, despite the time they have spend hanging off the coat tails of public broadcasting, are little better.

What sort of "wholesome family comedy" do you think should be on the airwaves that absolutley nobody will get offended by. Actual examples please.

Just because it is funded by the public it doesnt mean the ENTIRE public has to like every show.

You should really read what people say before rushing to the keyboard.

What I am defending here is peoples right to protest if they feel they were offended.
Taxpayers/license payers/stakeholders are perfectly entitled to protest if they don't like what they pay for.Do you expect people to turn the BBC over to people like Brand/Ross/Clarkson et al and accept all or any of the stuff they may chose to come out with?? Great!! we will all fund this corporation at huge expense and allow certain people to use the facilities to say or do what they like?? Bulldust sir!!!

Somebody obviously got a bad beating with the naivety stick here.
