Here's an email i got from a friend in America. As far as im aware the whole court speech is bull**** and never happened, but would you agree with some of the points made her or not????????

Makes one stop and think after reading this :

Michael Richards is better known as Kramer from TV's Seinfeld series.

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act.

He makes some very interesting points. He said :

I'm proud To Be White. There, someone finally said it.

How many are actually paying attention to this ?

There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc.

And then there are just Americans.

You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.
You Call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman' ... and that's OK.

But when I call you, ******, Kike, Towel head, Sand-******, Camel Jockey, Beaner , Gook, or Chink ...
You call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live ?

· You have the United Negro College Fund.
· You have Martin Luther King Day
· You have Black History Month.
· You have Cesar Chavez Day.
· You have Yom Hashoah.
· You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
· You have the NAACP.
· You have BET.

If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists. If we had White History Month , we'd be racists. If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.

I wonder who pays for that ?

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant. If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships you know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US . Yet if there were 'White colleges' THAT would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists. You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or
beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud. But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists ?

Seriously why can't there be a day " I am proud to be white!"

As far as i am concerned, we are all individuals... The colour of your skin doesn't matter....

Was watching a programme on lfc tv last night about the abuse black players got 10 -20 years ago. John Barnes got bananas thrown at him, WTF, I am definitely not proud to be that white person who can justify that sort of abuse. I think in this day and age these sort of colour arguements should not even exist. But I suppose the origianl poster got his info from the U.S. Its still a third world country in my opinion. The fact that there are ghettos in one of the so called richest countrys in the world!!

He kinda ruined his credibility (imo) by saying "and then there are Americans"... oh so "American" automatically means white - as in, you're only a "true" American if you're white. Otherwise you have to have a prefix in front of "American".

I disagree when whites try to put their experiences of racism on a par with those of non white people. Sure, white people do face racism in certain areas; there are extremist groups - some very scary black ones in America - who literally want the white race exterminated.
End of the day though, white people in America have the luxury of being white - it guarantees them an easier ride - and they cannot claim to walk in the shoes of a non white person. They just can't.

As for proud of my race? Meh, I'm born a certain way - it's just the way it is. Not like I achieved it. And I think the same should apply to those of all colours.

I wouldn't be ashamed to be white because of what fellow whites have done either though.

This reminds me of when I was little and I used to ask my mum "why isnt there a childrens day?" and she would say "everyday is childrens day"

that was the 80s, since then I think some sort of international childrens day started up, but no matter, do you get my point?

Actually I was watching "The Good Shepherd" last night and there was a scene where Jo Peschi (I think) and Matt Damon were sitting outside.

Peschi says the Italians have the church and their family, the Irish have their homeland...what do you have?

Damon replies "The Unites States of America and the rest of you are just visiting".

Now I know that was set in the 60's but I wonder how many Caucasian Americans, or maybe upper class Americans still feel that way?

Many I'm sure. Extraordinarily ignorant of white Americans of European descent to view the United States as always "theirs". Makes me uncomfortable - kinda reminds me of Boers in South Africa viewing that country as "theirs".

Was in OZ for a while, Couldnt get over how racist some of them were. they hate all the tourists invading their country.. Not one of them is more than 2-3 generations in the place yet claim to be Austrailian.. That is to say a small but highly vocal majority casting aspersions on the efforts of the majority.

Remember, it's not cool to be proud, and white.

I can say i am proud to be Irish, or a culchie, or whatever the **** ( okay, maybe not culchie........actually **** that, suck my balls i'm proud of it ) but not white.

Oh no.

It's like Straight Pride, or Fianna Fail Pride, basically being reactive when you are, for the most part, in the easy having majority.

I'm proud to be me. I'm a unique person, most probably annoying to a lot of people, but have a reasonable sense of humour and like a bit of fun. When I walk down the street, I see other unique people- each with their own story of how they got to be the people they are. I don't focus on race or nationality- I'm far more likely to focus on a smile, an act of kindness, a little pleasantry or what appears to be good humoured demeanor. I wonder about the sadness in some people's faces, or take joy in the happiness on other people's faces. Life is far too short to get hung up on aesthetics- people should be judged by their actions, not who they are.

Nah can't agree with that. The Boers were a tiny minority ruling a massive majority. In the USA the majority of the population is of white european descent and could view the country as "theirs" without trying to negate other peoples claims on living there.

Well fair enough, but in the context of the quote from that movie: Irish-Americans and Italian-Americans are just visitors? But other European-Americans who are there the same length of time aren't? Because they're WASPs probably. Load of cack.

Em actually that's not in any way true nationally although in some states there would be a tiny majority.

Info from US Census 2006 so unless something really drastic has changed in the last two years.

White: 221, 331, 507
Black: 37, 051, 483
Asian: 13, 100, 095
Some other race alone (i.e. Hispanic etc): 19, 007, 12

Obviously this doesn't take into account people of mixed race but then again neither do the people filling out the census returns as they will check the box they think applies to them.
