How to properly drive on a motorway.
    Taken from here
    Lane 1

The normal 'keep left' rule applies. Stay in this lane unless you are overtaking.

    Lane 2

On a two-lane motorway, use this for overtaking only and move back into lane 1 when you have finished. You may also use this lane to accommodate traffic merging from the left.

On a three-lane motorway, you may stay in this centre lane while there is slower moving traffic in lane 1.

    Lane 3

If you are travelling on a three-lane motorway, you must use this lane only if traffic in lanes 1 and 2 is moving in queues and you need to overtake or accommodate merging traffic. Once you've finished overtaking, move back to your left and allow faster traffic coming from behind to pass by.

Another thing I'd teach, is NOT to sing along to songs. It drives me nuts!

    Shame on you...

No, drunkin sing-alongs are fine, but singing to a song because you know the words, and so I can't listen to the song, only to your voice. THATS ANNOYING!

Fog lights (those lights integrated into the front bottom bumper) are for fog, and dazzle other motorists, increasing the chances of an accident occurring.

And that you look really stupid when you decide to turn them on only and not your headlights.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 817 ✭✭✭Burial

Lol! I did that once, and a taxi driver kept flashing me to turn them on, and I flashed him many times, until I realised that I had no lights on.

Also, a guy behind me had no lights on, so I turned on my hazards. He kept flashing me back until I turned off and on my lights. His and his wifes expressions were priceless!

...to stop idiots thinking that America is always right and that their goverment is corrupt to the core by lobbists and their huge money buying ways.

A law enacted in 1987 that banned shops from selling food below the invoice price. So we had the wonderful situation where our government were bringing Tesco and Dunnes to court for selling nappies too cheaply. Yep, you read that right. Thankfully the law was repealed in 2006, but some people still want it brought back!!

Sorry - but it's ultimately bad for the market - these shops entice you in with cheap prices on certain goods (but everything else is expensive but people are lazy so sure, they'll buy all while they're in one shop anyway) that smaller shops can't compete with which causes them to lose custom, close down - and then who are we left with? The big shops that can ratchet all the prices up again.

How to make a proper cup of tea.

Earl Grey teabag from Lidl in first.
    Add boiling water.
Smush teabag around for about half a minute.
    Remove teabag.
    Add 3 heaped teaspoons sugar.
Add splash of full fat milk.
Leave the spoon in while drinking.

Re: Dardania - The Groceries order was an awful piece of legislation, used by small shops to justify their own high prices. If the long term result is high prices anyway, at worst, we're back to where we started, at best, the competition between the big grocer's (Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, Dunnes, Asda(when they start up here), will stay intense, resulting in lower prices for all.
