LAS VEGAS, Nevada (CNN) -- Former gridiron great O.J. Simpson was found guilty of all 12 counts in the armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas, Nevada, casino hotel last year.

The jury reached the verdict 13 years to the day O.J. Simpson was acquitted of two murders.

Simpson, 61, and his co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart, 54, were charged with a dozen offenses stemming from the alleged sports memorabilia heist.

Stewart was also found guilty of the same charges as Simpson. Both men will likely spend the rest of their lives in prison.

Quick google search shows charges including criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery, and using a deadly weapon.

He's gonna service life for this, no clever lawyer can get him out of this sentance this time

Edit: Clever lawyer idea in Post 4

Sounds incredibly dubious to be perfectly honest. As guilty as I think Simpson is of the murders 13 years ago, this whole thing wreaks of set up.

Wait a second. I'm no lawyer but my extensive knowledge of John Grisham novels shows this might be grounds for an appeal
the jury of nine men and three women, none of them African-American

Demographics of Las Vegas from wikipedia
The racial makeup of the city was 69.86% White, 10.36% African American, 0.75% Native American, 4.78% Asian, 0.45% Pacific Islander, 9.75% from other races, and 4.05% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 23.61% of the population.

A jury of your peers, hmmmmmmmm

Btw this the shoddiest law argument you've ever seen, no lawyer would quote facts from wikipedia

    Quick search

"The 6th Amendment guarantees the accused the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury. The phrase "jury of one's peers" is not included in the Amendment.

A jury of one's peers does not mean a black defendant must be tried by an all black jury or a female defendant must be tried by an all woman panel. The objective is to select an impartial jury from a randomly selected juror pool who will be fair, listen to the facts of the case, and render a just verdict based on the evidence"

I thought it would be roughly representative of the local demographics and I don't think I'm incorrect on this.

Hollywood has a lot to answer for! Those lawyers are always trying to relocate juries to different counties so they can get their preferred ratio of jurors.

A Time to Kill is an example of this and yes, it's a John Grisham novel too.

O.J. was acquitted by an all black jury thirteen years ago.

Fault the defence team in both instances. Both prosecution and defence can dismiss potential jurors prior to the case without providing reason. Both sides typically use this to leverage the panel of jurors so that it's not tilted too much to their disadvantage. High profile cases in America tend to dismiss large numbers before settling on the final twelve and alternate.

If he gets life, do you think he'll finally admit to the murders?

seeing that he got off 13 yrs ago , this means he had no previous convictions when on trial for this crime , purely from a legal point of view , a life sentence would seem incredibly harsh for armed robbery , no one in this country ever done more than 10 for such an offense

    Wasn't just armed robbery irish_bob.

It was criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery, and using a deadly weapon.
I suppose all of these come under armed robbery but it's not you or me who decide what charges to pursue

Sure in California, you can get the death penalty for kidnapping alone.
    This was Nevada though.

Not a life sentence per se, but at age 61 he could get 20 years and that'd do it!

In some states you can get the death sentence for it too, it came about after the Lindberg baby kidnapping.

Who says the jury was not roughly representative of the demographics? There's 12 people on a jury and roughly 1 in 10 people in the area are African American. That's nowhere near high enough a number to guarantee a black juror. Sure by that logic, with only 4.78% of the population, there should never be an Asian juror.

Pure nonsense and I sincerely hope that's not actually considered grounds for an appeal.

Watch the video of the verdict being read. It shows O.J.'s expressions. You have to wonder what is going through his head. I can imagine his twisted mind was trying to find a way out. Trying to find a way to survive, manipulate and twist the situation to his advantage. Watch the video closely observing his body language and it is pretty interesting. As slippery as O.J. is I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow, someway got out of this too.

Also watch the lawyers as he is being handcuffed. They are looking for anything they can to point their fingers at in an appeal. "They cuffed him too tight! Brutality!".

    Weasels!
