I'm wary of dogs.

Attacking people when they show fear - yeah, real brave.

Was the victim of two unprovoked attacks when I was younger. Mid 1980s.
Reported the first. Dog wasn't put down.
Didn't bother reporting the second but the same dog attacked someone else on the road a few weeks later.

Their older brother called round the following day and killed the dog with an axe in full view of its owners. Brutal but effective.

I ended up with two permanent scars. Just learned to live with them as they're only visible if I wear shorts.

First port of call is the Dog Warden, explain what happened and he'll take it from there. I'm covered in scars from being bitten by dogs over the years. My favourite is the one on my ear where my little terrier bit me when I was teenager. People ask me sometimes what happened to my ear and I tell them a German tourist was fishing off a boat on the Shannon onetime and as he was casting out this huge triple hook caught my ear and pulled me into the water..........some people will believe anything

........I know it's cliched but it's only on your ankle and it could have been a whole lot worse. Rumour has it some scars turn into erogenous zones !!!!!

Ok its not so much i mind about killing the dog that bit you(I HATE dogs) but its more about the fact your older brother, got out of your house walked around with an axe and killed a dog infront of its owners

I got bit by a little monkey which was owned by the rich, bored kid in my neighbourhood. Nobody ever believes me when I tell the story, but I swear it's true. I got 4 scars on my calf as a soveniour.

just to let you all know, the dog didnt simply nip at my ankle and scratch it, its teeth were dug into my leg and it was growling and shaking its head while the teeth were still embedded in my leg. I now have 3 purple scars eaching about 3 inches long above my ankle. I guess i'm just angry that i've been permanently marked and the little b***ard dog is still running around. The filth couldnt have cared less and would only consider an official complaint if i was prepared to go to court over it. I'm just annoyed i suppose.

i did not necessarily want the dog put down, i wanted to ensure that it was going to be kept in, possibly contained in their back garden. I was told the police were only concerned that there was a licence for the dog, they could not tell the owners what to do with their dog. Personally i couldnt be bothered to bring someone to court over not having a dog licence.

Calm down now. Go back and read my post again. I don't have any brothers.

As far as I know [I wasn't there and it was 1983], the dog was killed by two or three blows to its chest. The lad was subsequently restrained by two adults but not before the damage was done.

Yes - the older brother of the second victim.

The situation probably sounds shocking and horrible but it's important to remember that these were unprovoked attacks. I was bitten outside my own house by an unleashed dog. The second guy was bitten while walking to school about 200 yards from where the dog lived. It wasn't as if either of us had trespassed or even walked past the house.

Ultimately the dog was the instigator / aggressor in this case and had to be punished.

Its a long time since I've heard the police referred to as "The filth", probably says more about you than this whole thread says about the dog.

If the dog is vicious, and has bitten people and left scaring.. it should be put to sleep.

How did you attract the dogs attention... , and could toddler do the same thing...

worst case senario.. you can explain to some toddlers mum, you were not arsed going to court.

sure might never happen.. just like it never happened to you.
