    Hi all

back in April i was badly bitten by a dog just above the ankle. I reported the incident to the police and to this day the dog is still running free and terrorising anything that moves. Now 6 months later I have been left with dreadful scars to my leg, and i feel it has healed as best it can heal. I dont know what to do, should i sue or just accept the scars as tough luck. I am female and wear skirts and dresses a lot but to be honest it looks horrible.

Im against suing for groundless reasons, but...

Dog owners should have their mutt attached to a leash at all times. Its unpleasant and unfair on anyone else if they are threatened by a dog barking/growling at them. Now if they bite you because the muppet owner hadn't the piece of mind to leash it, then it would be reasonable to be extremely pissed off. These people don't seem to take others into account and have an inflated perception of their dog as harmless, which is probably why its not trained/disciplined at all.

Try this forum for tips on covering that scar right up with all manner of potions and lotions.

As regards your question, next time you see the dog in public, wrestle it to the ground, hold it down and bite it as hard as you can on the rump. See how he bloody likes it.

A dog bit me under the eye before, came very close, no scar there, its just seems a but swollen the whole time. Scars are cool i wouldnt worry about it, and not all dogs are like that either.

See, it all depends on what type of dresses you were. St. Bernard, Jennifer Lopez or some other random dress brand. Could be that you're a little tubby and squeezing into them... not many lads like that sort of thing.

I wouldn't think the OP would want St. Bernard anywhere near her after what happened.

Sue, it could happen again. It could happen a child. That dog should be put down and its owners punished. As for the scar have you thought about plastic surgery/grafts? Do you think its on that level? Perhaps bio oil could even out the skin tone and stuff if that's the problem.

    *Derisive snort*

Well you see, that's where you went wrong. You need to take the law into your own hands! That's the only way to deal with...ANYTHING!

    Sue, it could happen again.

I just spent 2 minutes reading through this thread again wondering who the hell Sue was. Maybe I need some of the ol' Amigo 3 fish oil. :o

Get over it. I was mauled by a dog when I was two and have scored many a bloke with by pointing out the teethmarks in my forehead and telling the story.

    Scars rock. End of.

You're from the country, get your rifle and shoot the dog.
Oh and I suppose you should eat it too as otherwise some people would object.

Seeing as how you are from the country (anyone outside Dublin is from the country) - ask a farmer to save you the stomach lining of a pig the next time he kills one. Take it, turn it inside out, dry it out naturally and then scrape the inside of it off on to a bit of kitchen roll - rub the scrapings then on to your scar and it should be healed/gone in 2 weeks.

You should try the legal section or Personal Issues not after hours.

I thought that read you had mauled a dog and scored many blokes by saying that to them. I think I need some sleep.

OP. Find out if the person who owns the dog has a child. Bite the child on the ankle. An eye for an eye, etc etc.

ask your doctor about silicone gel to reduce the scarring.id a big bright purply red scar on my leg from cutting it to the bone and having kept the silicone gel on it the colour went out of it compleatly except for when its ice or roasting hot like in a bath

The best thing for you to do would be to make a appointment with a dermatologist. There is a cream available in pharmacists for skin scar tissue (can't think of the name) but I'd seek expert advice first.

ah well, that's what ya get for lookin like an easy target to the dog.
