Would you drink breast milk?

Ok, inspired by the breast feeding in public thread I thought I'd throw this one out there. If human milk was on sale in the super market alongside the other dairy products would you drink it. Presuming it has been pasturised, the producers have been screened for disease ect obviously. Personally I never really understood why its not on sale, have a farm, milk the woman, pay them for the product. I mean it is supposed to be extremely healthy for you, boosts your immune system, ideal nutrition for human beings ect.

Vegan so no, even if I wasn't I'd be a bit icked out by it I think. It'd want to be free range at least.

You'd have to knock up a woman, then take the calf from her, milk her,and when she runs dry repeat the process. What would you do with the calves op?

if their female, wait till their child bearing age and repeat process

    <hides>

dont see human milk ever been produced/marketed/sold like this, far far to many ethical/humane/moral implications

Now I'm no scientician but aren't women able to produce milk continuosly once they have babies as long as they continue to eat healthily and are milked regularly? They would do with the calves what mothers always do with thier calves, if its not broke don't fix it.

    Why not?

Yeah OP, I would. I admit it would feel a bit weird initially cuz of how I've been socially and culturally conditioned, but Jesus, it's weird how that same society/culture has led me to believe it's ok to drink milk from a farm animal and not from my own species.

If it's good enough for babies then it's certainly good enough for adults.

Such as? I'm not suggesting women be chained in a shed and force fed crushed human brains and eyes mixed with hormones then milked round the clock while Beethoven plays in the backround or anything. It would be no different than a candlestick maker selling her candlesticks. Unless I'm over looking an obvious ethical issue?

So if you wanted to raise a vegan child (And subject it to all the raised health risks associated with that) you couldn't feed it the one kind of food that is definitely 100% certain to be the only thing that is definitely food made for humans?
    The mind actually boggles.

You're certainly not going to like my offer of cream so.
Were you a vegan at birth?

    OP: No. It tastes horrible.

I'm sorry, I should have made it more obvious, I'm not an infant, I'm an adult.
I don't want children but if I did have them I would definitely breastfeed and not raise them vegan (though probably vegetarian because I can't cook meat due to my own entirely vegetarian childhood which did me absolutely no harm). Clearer?

Nope not for me anyways, heard it's ment to taste sickly sweet.

So as an adult, your issue with the breast milk is that you cant have it because you are a vegan?
That's quite a strange one. I wonder what the general slant on that is from our other vegan brothers and sisters.

It was half in jest tbh, but seeing as I'm a vegan for reasons other than moral ones, I'd have much less of an issue with human milk than other milk as it's probably a lot better for you. Were you attacked by a vegan as a child or something?

Now thats just being silly, where would a vegan get the strenght to lift thier head up long enough to see someone to attack them?

Vegans are generally too weak to attack people. Similar to most consumers of breast milk actually.

I'd try it. It'd be strange to be repulsed by it when we do drink cow's milk.

I wouldn't be putting it on my cereal though.

    Yes they do.

Some nursing mothers supply milk for milk banks, for babies who's mothers for some reason or another cant produce breastmilk, so, this is already going on.
