i've applied for on campus accommodation but they said I'll get a reply tomorrow... i doubt it will be positive. i am kind of scared for the whole "finding a place to live" situation since i might have to come to ie earlier cuz of that, but well, i'll sort that out after tomorrow. :)
    did u apply as well?

Hardly expected to get to know people in my class before I walked into a single lecture!

Ah the wonders of technology. So the guys to girls ratio? Mostly girls then? (I'm a bloke btw) Sounds interesting. Really looking forward to the first class party!

Well it makes sense though. I mean, we are studying Communications, so "communicating" on an Irish forum should be one of our hobbies!

After all, I doubt those studying Agriculture and Environmental Management in GMIT would have internet forums as high on their list of priorities...

For now.....remember the trend 80 girls 10 boys!!!!

This could be the entire population of men here lads!

There's no guarantee that the 70:10 ratio will apply to us as well though. I mean maybe yeah it sounds like there will be a large majority of girls over guys but that won't necessarily be 70 to 10.

I was telling some friends about the course tonight, they now think i'm the luckiest guy in the world!

    little correction - 70 girls
see, it's not that bad :P

initially i thought the guys will be more actually...

So what you all looking to get out of the Degree?

What career path are you interested in or have you know idea yet?

Journalism was initially the first career I seriously considered, and up to the start of 6th year, JS in DCU was my first choice. But after thinking about it a bit more I thought that comms would give me more options in the grander scheme of things, while not completely ruling out Journalism in the future.

Pretty much all the areas of occupation listed in this topic a page or two ago would really interest me tbh

Journalism was initially my career choice as well, but thought the CS degree would be far more rounded. Looking to do the postgrad though.

I'm sure we will have a few whose ambition is to host the Den or something, or live and die in Donnybrook :D:D

I have my housemates heads wrecked talking about the course. Us mature students get to do a few days early though - we get two days of orientation.

    I'm counting down the days!!

i was thinking of journalism as well but i didn't put it before CS for the same reason... it still remains an open option though :)

Yeah, me too. But apparantly it's REALLY hard to get into?

They only take 25 students every year but something like more than 3 times that amount apply for it!
