We can expect to see more Polish coming over here if this thing escalates.

    A loony legend :D

The Russians have probably beefed up on Rust Prevention since then, but as every DIY enthusiast knows, you can never be 100% certain of stopping it :pac:

Yes, thousands of 'em, flying across the sky with no planes after the initial strike, all screaming aaaarrrrgghhh

What was said is that "Poland will be a 1st strike target should there be any aggression" which means the Russians are gonna already have some of their arsenal pointed on them as of today, along with Ukraine and Georgia for either supporting the U.S. or allowing them to help(as in the current South Osseita invasion)

Why the other world leaders havent just come out and told the Russians to get the fu*k off their high horse yet, literally, is beyond comprehension...

Russia clearly have a right to defend themselves. If anything American should be told to **** off their high horse and get the **** out of Europe.

It is an absolute disgrace that Poland and the Czech Republic are allowing such installations on their soil.

Ireland could also be a target for Russian Nukes seeing as there are so many Polish people living here. Willie O Dea needs to to do something, and fast.

The Poles and the Czechs also have every right to defend themselves with any means at their disposal. Both having been screwed rotten by the Russians in the past, neither wishes to be screwed by them again.

Sorry guys, but I reckon Ireland will be one of the first to go if war breaks out. We're in a strategic location as the first port of call for troops coming across from the US, so we would be taken out.

Think it was a very stupid idea for Poland to do this right now. Surely waiting for a bit until things settle between Russia and Georgia.

Why should the world have only one "super-power" anyway? It's a little bit selfish of the US to think they can have everything in the world for thei own use under the guise of "spreading deomcracy". Someone is going to disagree with them, and they'll have to get over it.

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit.

It's the only way to be sure.

And that was my point to Stevek101 also. The Russians are STILL bitter at having lost so much territory that they will still seek to fu*k them over either economically or structurally.

If the Russian government are so worried about ex-patriots in Georgia, why dont they just kill them like they done in Chechnya while blowing the **** out of the place to kill the seperatists there?

Oh apparently the same Russians have decided to call a truce in Georgia and pull out it was just on the news, lets see how long it takes em to get out...

Our airforce is well equipped to deal with any aerial threats.

Its extremely naive to think the Americans are doing this to defend the Polish or Czech's or any of us Europeans. It is entirely for their interest. Occupied by the Americans rather than the Russians? Nice one.

In the combined interest of Poland the Czechs and the US. Its called an alliance. Its not an occupation when they are invited in.

Do you really honestly think that the Russian army in Poland would be even remotely comparable to the US army in Poland?

You missed my point. I know its an alliance. I was trying to make the point that its idiotic for them to think its an alliance worth taking part in.

Someone suggested that it was good for them to have such a defence system after everything they've been through with the Russians. All the Americans are going to do is **** them over as well.

In this day and age, the world and his father know that the Americans aren't providing something for nothing, but most would rather have the Americans on their side than a crowd of out-of-control Russian gangsters with chips on their shoulders.

Really? What about Iraq and Afghanistan? Guantanamo Bay? Abu Ghraib? Freedom and democratic loving nation...? My hole. New World Order ballocks. Europe should sort itself out the Americans aren't needed.

    Yes, really.

What about Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay etc etc? Anything bad done by the Americans in these places pales into insignificance when compared to what the Russians have done in the past.

Go and ask a few Poles or Czechs which of the two they would prefer.

Russia has nukes pointed at Dublin. I had a lecturer in UCD that worked in the Clinton administration and said he saw some files that stated this. So we are fvcked if they so wish.

Poland has far too many pretty women
“If a US strategic anti-missile shield is deployed near our borders, we will be forced to react not in a diplomatic fashion but with military resources,” the statement read

    http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=64730&sectionid=3510303

    From July 08

I suppose a threat like that is kinda serious :(

i dont think we have too much to worry about, this is all hot air from the russians, their missiles are almost half a century old and more than likely will never leave the ground

What about Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Vietnam? Genocide of Native Americans?
American sponsored despots throughout the world?
Anything bad done by the americans in these cases hardly pale into insignificance when compared to the Russians.

If a target is placed somewhere on the map, then that place on the map becomes a target. Its an obvious and fundamental defense strategy. The Poles know that, the US knows that, there is really nothing to be surprised about.

IMO a stupid decision by poland

Will defence shield make USA a safe place ? May be.

Will defence shield make poland a safe place ? NO

<of the funny side>hmmm this may trigger another wave of polish migrants :D

We could bully smaller, more vunerable countries like Switzerland and Albania.

Hey lay off the Swiss they make nice Cheese:)

Anyway how exactly did the Russians find out, it just seems stupid for people in Poland and the US to tell people what they were building even so i think Poland should scrap the plans if it would stop a war

BTW AH is starting to get more Political these days

I don't understand what Russia is getting upset about, this new system is of no threat to them. It is only bad for them if they actually do intend to use their nukes, in which case it is justified. Or am I missing something?

@Depeche (saw them in the RDS years ago)...If the US neutralise the potential threat of Soviet nukes then it becomes the sole superpower on Earth...OK so apparently they only want to send 10 (anti missile) missiles there but obviously that could /would/will increase.(The russians have at the very, very least 500 nukes probably thousands although hard to say how many 'mothballed')
