    People are *****.

Not a whole lot Tbh. In my time here, I have found most Boardsies to be Good natured, intelligent, passionate, somewhat reasoned, generous and quite humourous. Outside this website (or the real world if you prefer), ive found most to be the opposite of that list. Boards is a country Id like to live in, let me know if ye ever cede from the mother country.

People love their little bit of power, and they'll use whatever tools of power you give them with glee.

I probably knew that already though.

There are lots of funny people out there and there are a good few deeply messed-up people out there.

It's taught me a lot about myself tbh.

AARRRGH and Piste's points are true of me in varying ways.

Having probably spent far too much of my life since I was 13/14 on the internet, there still exists a trail of posts I made on various forums, not just on boards, that portray me at various stages of my personal development.

People say stuff behind the comfort of their keyboard, way too much.

I'm always surprised when I see people make this assumption. Unless you have met the person in "real" life how do you know what they would and would not say?

I agree with the "people are decent", I've seen a lot of posts on this which give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

There is a lot of sick humour out here.

As for people being louder behind a keyboard, I think it's something to do with a post by a loud person and a post by a quiet person are the same.
In the real world, if your quiet and start to speak you can easily be interuppted by a louder person.
Posts tend to get read so you have a better chance of getting your post across regardless of how forceful you are.

Haven't been here every long but I've noticed there's quite a few insular, xenophobic people around, many of whom attempt to cloak their bigotry in respectable language.

Because the majority of people on here are brave, all-knowing and confrontational where applicable. In reality, it's quite often not the case. If you don't think there is a hint of truth in people finding comfort in the safety of confrontation online, then I don't think you're being honest with yourself.

I find people are more of that outside of boards.ie - I can't imagine people saying what they say in the comfort of privacy on a webforum like this.

I think people will definitely argue more or stand up for themselves more behind a keyboard yes. I don't think majority of people on here log on looking for fight.

I'm also not so sure it is a case of being braver, more a case of when you are in public people don't like starting fights and arguments when people are supposed to be socialising and having a good time.

*I realise the irony in entering into an argument online, about arguing online. But I piss people off in the outside world as well.

There are people out there who are weirder even than me.

There is more to the internet than just pr0n!!

In general, most people on here are very nice and helpful with any problem under the sun that you could posibbly have. From subjects ranging from programming to relationships to Flutteringbantums'(sp?) toilet problems/posts ( whatever you could qualify them as )

I was also thinking if boards was down, would Ireland be a lot more productive workforce?? I think so.

    Whoops.
    Sorry about that.
I meant to re-open it a few minutes later, but forgot. It's open now.

What always amazes me when looking through threads is how did so many people get through all those years of education writing "would of" instead of "would have".
Not to mention the spelling and the reliance of a spell check tool which Americanises everything.

If you are using one of these, the word "Americanises" will should up with a red line under it.

A lot of people are unable to have opinions based on logic or honesty. They personalise the issue, and then let their emotions cloud their judgement. No matter what obvious evidence is placed before them, they refuse to accept reality...

That the standard of spelling and grammar is shooíte.

If this is a reflection on the current education standard, then we are all in trouble.

That there is a coterie of whankers on boards.ie who think they know everything, and try to influence others opinion, when people who are a tad more experienced treat them as what they are-whankers.

Eh... there should be a space after a comma.

    Sorry :)

bored-s.ie has taught me nothing about people.. its teh internetz, not real!

i learn about people face to face.

I've learned that people can be very hypocritical and inconsistent - I'm no exception.
But it's part of the human condition and people are strange, complex creatures.

I've noticed the hypocrisy, inconsistency thing in particular when it comes to "men v women" stuff.

I was quite amazed to find out people thought i was worth listening to.

I also discovered that alot of people are more pessimistic than i thought.

The best thing i learnt though was that as a species, we tend to pull together if ANYONE starts to fall. It's reassuring really :D

I have learned that some people will use the PI forum to make themselves look like they actually give a **** when in reality its about how they are preceived to the rest of boards is all they really interested in.

I was a lurker for months, but I find Boards, full of funny and strange characters..
But the moderation is excellent(unlike a few other well known sites) and seems to be fair and equal..
